Shabbat Shalom שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today is the Shabbat, God’s Time

----------------

 Let’s pray

--------------------------------

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s.

Today is February 1st, 2014

February -- month of Februa

Latin dies februatus "day of purification"

Februarius had 28 days, until circa 450 BC when it had 23 or 24 days on some of every second year, until Julius when it had 29 days on every fourth year and 28 days otherwise.

Februa is the Roman festival of purification held on February fifteenth. It is possibly of Sabine origin.

------------------

Yehovah has His own calendar

We are now in the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat /Sh'vat, the last day

Zech.1[7] Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Yehovah unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet….

Corresponding to modern  Jan. / Feb.

------------------------

This evening is the New Moon which starts the 12th month of God, Adar

Esth.3 [7] In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.

Adar = “glorious”- אדר

Corresponding to modern Feb. / March

Today’s Topic:

Beware of the Novice, and Pride

A novice should not be teaching or leading a group

Over the years, we have witnessed many people who have studied with us for awhile, then leave, telling everyone they learned everything on their own – another lie and pride.

We don’t mind if you leave us, there are no bars on this place, but the bible says don’t teach when you’re a novice.

------------------------------------------------------------

2Pet.2[1] But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Let's talk about "the Proud - Pride"

I see pride has always been a problem

Here are a few verses:

1Tim.3[6] Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

1Pet.5 [5] Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

Pss.10[2] The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

[4] The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

Pss.31[20] Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Pss.36[11] Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

Pss.59[12] For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

Pss.73[6] Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.

Prov.8[13] The fear of Yehovah is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Prov.11[2] When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

Prov.13[10] Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

Prov.14[3] In the mouth of the foolish is a rod of pride: but the lips of the wise shall preserve them.

Prov.16[18] Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Prov.29[23] A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

1John.2[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Pss.12[3] The Yehovah shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:

Pss.17[10] They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

Pss.31[18] Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

[23] O love Yehovah, all ye his saints: for Yehovah preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

Pss.40[4] Blessed is that man that maketh Yehovah his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Pss.86[14] O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them.

Pss.94[2] Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.

Pss.101[5] Whoso privily slandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off: him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.

Pss.119[21] Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.

[51] The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.

[69] The proud have forged a lie against me: but I will keep thy precepts with my whole heart.

[78] Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.

[85] The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law.

[122] Be surety for thy servant for good: let not the proud oppress me.

Pss.123[4] Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

Pss.124[5] Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

Pss.138[6] Though Yehovah be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Pss.140[5] The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

--------------------

Prov.6[16] These six things doth Yehovah hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

[17] A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

[18] An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

[19] A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren

---------------------

Prov.15[25] The Yehovah will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.

Prov.16[5] Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Yehovah: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

[19] Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Prov.21[4] An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

[24] Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.

Prov.28[25] He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in Yehovah shall be made fat.

1Tim.6[1] Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

[2] And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

[3] If any man (woman) teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

[4] He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
[5] Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

Jas.4[6] … God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble

Mark 7 [17] And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

[18] And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
[19] Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

[20] And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man (woman).

[21] For from within, out of the heart of men (woman), proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
[22] Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
[23] All these evil things come from within, and defile the man (woman).

---------------

How to deal with people that are proud and obstinate:

Rom.16 [17] Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

1Tim.6 [20] O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:[21] Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

2Tim.2 [23] But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

Tit.3 [9] But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

[10] A man (or woman) that is an heretic after the first and second admonition reject;
[11] Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.

-----------------------------

1Tim.1

[1] Paul, an apostle of Yeshua the Messiah by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Yeshua the Messiah, which is our hope;
[2] Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Yeshua the Messiah our Lord.
[3] As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

[4] Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

[5] Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

[6] From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

[7] Desiring to be teachers of the law;understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

Vain jangling: ματαιολογία - mataiologia - mat-ah-yol-og-ee'-ah- random talk, that is, babble

-------------------------------------

Let’s talk about the humble person – humility

Some verses may be the same as above, however now I will emphasize the “humble” person now.

Job.22[29] When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

Pss.9[12] When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.

Pss.10[10] He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

[12] Arise, O Yehovah; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.

[17] Yehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

Pss.34[2] My soul shall make her boast in Yehovah: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

Pss.69[32] The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.

Prov.16[19] Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Prov.29[23] A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.

Prov.15[33] The fear of Yehovah is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.

Prov.18[12] Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.

Prov.22[4] By humility and the fear of Yehovah are riches, and honour, and life.

Acts.20[19] Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

1Pet.5[5] Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

--------------

First humble yourself and go and get forgiveness before you pray or bring an offering to God

Matt.5 [23] Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

[24] Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Prov.6[1] My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
[
2] Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

[3] Do this now, my son (daughter), deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

[4] Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
[5] Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

Eph.4[26] Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Matt.6[15] But if ye forgive not men (woman) their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matt.18[35] So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother (or sister) their trespasses.

In closing:

Jas.5[16] Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

a difference

Pss.32[5] I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Yehovah; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
