The Ten Commandments

Do We Have to Keep Them?

Answer is: YES!

We are Saved by the GRACE of God

Eph:2:1: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

Eph:2:2: Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Eph:2:3: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Eph:2:4: But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Eph:2:5: Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Eph:2:6: And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Eph:2:7: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

Eph:2:8: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph:2:9: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Can we sin wilfully and remain saved?

Ro:6:1: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Ro:6:2: God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Heb:10:26: For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

Heb:10:27: But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Heb:10:28: He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:

Heb:10:29: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

The bible clearly states that we cannot sin wilfully,(on purpose) and remain saved.

Ro:11:22: Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Heb:8:6: But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

Heb:8:7: For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

Heb:8:8: For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

Heb:8:9: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

Heb:8:10: For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Heb:8:11: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

Heb:8:12: For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Heb:8:13: In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

We need to understand that Jesus Fulfilled the Levitical priisthood and the Psalm and Prophecies concerning him, not the 10 Commandments or the ordinances. This is how we know sin. We are Supposed to have the law written on our hearts (the Ten Commandment and Ordinances), and we have forsaken them. We are so afraid of doing good works in fear that others may believe that we are saved by works and not grace, but my friends;

  FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD!

Jas:2:17: Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Jas:2:18: Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Jas:2:19: Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Jas:2:20: But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Jas:2:21: Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?

Jas:2:22: Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Jas:2:23: And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.

Jas:2:24: Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only

the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

The Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:3-17):

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any      thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

6. Thou shalt not kill.

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

8. T hou shalt not steal.

9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

The Levitical Priesthood:

Heb:7:11: If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

Heb:7:12: For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Heb:7:13: For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.

Heb:7:14: For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

1Jo:3:4: Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

1Jo:3:5: And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

1Jo:3:6: Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

1Jo:3:7: Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1Jo:3:8: He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1Jo:3:9: Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Ro:3:25: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

The bible statees that God does not hear the prayer of sinners:

“Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.” (John 9:31)

“Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” (Isaiah 59:1

What is Righteousness and what is Sin?

God is explicit, he is straight forward and not confusing. The Devil is confusing; God does not imply.

Righteousnes:

De:6:25: And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

Sin:

Ro:7:7: What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Ro:7:8: But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

Jas:1:13: Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Jas:1:14: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Jas:1:15: Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. {Death of the soul}

What is the Curse of the Law?

Ga:3:13: Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Most people misinterpret this verse. Christ didn’t redeem us from the law. He redeemed us from the curse of the law, which is death.

De:21:22: And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:

The bible states that there are two kinds of sin: Ignorantly and willfully:

Nu:15:26: And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance.

Nu:15:27: And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.

Nu:15:28: And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before the LORD, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.

Nu:15:29: Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance, both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.

Nu:15:30: But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Nu:15:31: Because he hath despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

Understanding the LAW

Everyone needs to read carefully the first 5 books of the Old Testement. As you are reading, you will discover that there are the Ten Commandments, Judgments, Ordinances, and the Levitical priesthood with all the precepts, ordinances, statutes, and commandments for them.

Examples in the New Testemsnt:

Ordinances:

Eliszebeth and Zachariah - Parents of John the Baptist:

Lu:1:5: There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

Lu:1:6: And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Paul delivered the ordinances to the Corinthians:

1Co:11:1: Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

1Co:11:2: Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

Where are these Ordinances: See Leviticus Chapters 18 and 19. Please read. you will be surprised to see many of the ordinances spoken about in the New Testement. You probably thought they were new, but as you know, the apostles did not have the New Testement when they preached. What was a sin in the Old Testement remains in the New Testement. Jesus added only one new Commandment:

Joh:13:34: A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

What is God’s love for us?

1Jo:3:16: Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

What is the Love of God?

1Jo:5:3: For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Where are the Judgmets and how do they affect us now?

The Judgments are in Exodus Chapters 21 thru 23. Also some of the judgments are after the ordinances in Leviticus Chapter 20. Please read them. How does Paul know the judgement of God in Romans Chapter 1?

Ro:1:32: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Paul didn’t have the New Testement with him. Obviously, because Paul knew the Law (the books of Moses) so well, he knew what the judgement for homosexual behavior was:

Le:20:13: If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Jesus will judge us when we die; however, these remain the judgments of God if we die with sin on our soul! God will judge us according to his word.

1Co:4:5: Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest

Jas:2:25: Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?

Jas:2:26: For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Ti:1:16: They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Jas:2:14: What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

The answer is NO! Yes, you are saved by Grace; however, you must repent of your sins and stop sinning willfully (knowingly). Jesus did not suffer and die on the cross for those who choose to sin. Jesus Is our atonement sacrifice (propitiation) for our sins when we sin ignorantly. We all make mistakes unknowingly. There is a difference between knowingly telling someone a lie and telling someone that you intend to do something (and fully intend to), but something happened and you couldn’t.

Jas:5:12: But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

M't:5:17: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to

destroy, but to fulfil.

M't:5:18: For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

M't:5:19: Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Ec:12:13: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Ec:12:14: For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

1Jo:2:3: And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1Jo:2:4: He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

John:2:5: But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

And in Revelations:

“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.(Rev. 12:17)

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. “(Rev. 14:12)

“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city”.(Rev. 22:14)
