The First Commandment

Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

Exodus 4:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

Deuteronomy 5:7 Thou shalt have none other gods before Me .

Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

"29": And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:

"30": And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the
first commandment .

"31": And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Matt. 22:36: Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

"37": Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. "38": This is the first and great commandment .

"39": And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

"40": On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Isaiah 5:20

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light , and light for darkness ; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

"21": Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

"22": Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

"23": Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

"24": Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.

"25": Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Proverbs 17:13 Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

Ezekiel 22:26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.

Ezekiel 44:23 And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.

"3": I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the LORD.

"4": I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;

"5": And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by the LORD, and that swear by Malcham;

6: And them that are turned back from the LORD ; turned back

and those that have not sought the LORD , not sought

Ezekiel, chapter 14

"1": Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.

"2": And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

"3": Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

"4": Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;

"5": That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

"6": Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

"7": For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel,
which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:

"8": And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

"9": And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

"10": And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;

"11": And the
Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:)

"12": And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be shewed them.

"13": And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

"14": Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

"15": And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin.

"16":
And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

"5": And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

"6": And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.

"7": Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

"8": And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.

"9": And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

"10": So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

"11": And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

"12": And
they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
13: That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death , whether small or great, whether man or woman.
"14": And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

"15": And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.

"16": And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

Mark 3

"28": Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:

2 Peter 3

"1": This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

"2": That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

"3": Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

"4": And saying,
Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

"5": For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: "6": Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

"7": But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store,
reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

"8": But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

"9": The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

"10": But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

"11": Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

"12": Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

"13": Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

"14": Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

"15": And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

"16": As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

"17": Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

"18": But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Revelation 19

"11": And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

"12": His eyes were as a flame of fire , and on His head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself .

"13": And
he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

"14": And the armies which were in heaven followed
him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

"15": And out of
his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

"16": And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

1 Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords

26: O give thanks unto the God of heaven : for his mercy endureth for ever.
