Many released prisoners return to terror, government admits

About one-fifth of the Palestinian security prisoners Israel plans to release this weekend as part of a “goodwill gesture” toward Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas will return to terrorist activity, if Israeli Justice Ministry statistics hold up.

Emmy Palmor, head of the Pardons Department at Israel's Justice Ministry, told reporters on Wednesday that 17 percent of the Palestinians released in previous deals and as part of past goodwill gestures had promptly resumed their efforts to kill Israeli men, women and children.

In a petition filed with the Supreme Court against the pending release, the Almagor Terror Victims Association noted that over the past seven years, 179 Israelis have been killed by Palestinian released from Israeli jails.

The government justified the risk by pointing out that none of the 250 Palestinians slated for release have “blood on their hands,” meaning they have not participated directly in the murder of Israelis.

Palmor conceded that the argument is morally ambiguous since many of the terrorists about to be freed had tried to kill Israelis, but were caught before they could do so.

Israelis Disgusted at Release of 255 PA Terrorists - Published: 07/20/07

Speaking from the Ketziot prison, where over 250 terrorist prisoners were released this morning, terror victims' activist Meir Indor says many Israelis are disgusted at the idea.

Indor, head of the Almagor Terror Victims Association, was on hand
to watch the 255 terrorists being released . "I came with just one other person," he said, "a man whose son was murdered by terrorists several years ago and who came straight from visiting a monument to his son, and yet the authorities here didn't let us come near the reporters. They called this mission 'Fresh Breeze,' and they didn't want to let anything ruin the refreshing atmosphere..."

"But I can tell you," Indor continued, "that even though the politicians and the higher-ups in the army and those who are waiting to be promoted don't object to this release , the fact is that as you go further down in the army and security forces, there is a lot of opposition and disgust. In the Supreme Court, as well, at least one judge - Elyakim Rubenstein [the lone dissenting voice in the 21.7.07] - showed, let's say, dissatisfaction with the release."

"You can also tell by the talkbacks on the websites," Indor said. "Opposition to this deal is very widespread... It's just a terrible deal for Israel. And the authorities tried to hide its full extent. Even today, the commander of the southern region of the Israel Prison Service was quoted as saying that all the prisoners to be released had served 70% of their time - when in fact he's either stupid or a liar. About 3/4 of them have served only between a third and a half of their sentences, and we showed this in the Supreme Court yesterday!"

"We also forced the State's representative to admit that several of them were repeat offenders. Judge Rubenstein asked, 'Don't you think that this is an indication that they should not be freed?'"

Later, Indor was allowed to speak with reporters, and he expressed satisfaction at having been able to explain his case to several news outlets. "I don't wage these battles in order to win," he said, "but merely in order to hopefully ensure that the next time, more terrorists will remain in prison."

Gesture to Abu Mazen
The 255 prisoners were freed today as a gesture by Prime Minister Olmert to Fatah leader and Palestinian Authority chairman Abu Mazen (Mahmoud Abbas), in order to strengthen his waning stature. Olmert promised the release four weeks ago at the Sharm el-Sheikh summit with Abbas, Jordan's King Abdullah and Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

"Olmert just threw out the number 250," Indor said, "and then told the security services to deal with finding the right ones. And then when they came up with a list, Olmert behaved like a gangster and said, 'That would be insulting to Abu Mazen. I need bigger fish!' And so they gave him bigger fish - people who placed bombs, who used to be sentenced to 20 years and now are sentenced to only 10, and now they got out after 3-4 years, just because they were lucky and the bomb didn't kill anyone but only damaged the car. And they included attempted murderers, and those who fired shots and missed, etc."

Reminded that the terrorists signed a commitment not to return to terrorism as a condition for being released, Indor said
, "We have 196 families whose loved ones were murdered by terrorists who were once in prison. The lesson is simply not learned, and we see that Olmert's decisions are made hastily, not only in last summer's war, but here as well."

Fatah claimed on Friday morning that 30 of the 255 freed prisoners were Hamas members, but both Israel and Hamas denied this.

Scattered Throughout Yesha
The terrorists were taken to the Bituniya checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, from where buses took them to the various area of Judea and Samaria. The release of one terrorist was canceled when he was found to be a Hamas member, and that of another one was delayed when he refused to sign the commitment; he was finally persuaded to do so, and was freed.

On hand to greet the freed prisoner terrorists outside Ramallah was Arab-Israeli Knesset Member Ahmed Tibi, together with Abu Mazen and others.

Among the 255 is Abdel Rahim Mallouh, who was Deputy Secretary General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Mallouh's PFLP terrorists were behind the assassination of Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze'evi, the suicide bombing in a pizzeria in Karnei Shomron, murdering two teenagers, and more. Mallouh, a personal friend of Abbas, was sentenced to seven years in prison, and was scheduled to be released two years from now.

In another Olmert gesture to Abu Mazen, 178 wanted Fatah terrorists have been taken off of Israel's wanted list for the coming three months, unless they are found to be actively engaging in terrorism. If they succeed in acting peacefully for the next three months, their names will then be taken off the wanted list permanently.

Israel's Shimon Peres Urges Peace Talks With Syria

NewsMax.com Wires
Friday, July 20, 2007

JERUSALEM -- President Shimon Peres on Thursday called on Syria to open direct peace talks with Israel, urging Damascus to drop its demand that negotiations take place through mediators.

The comments by the Nobel Peace laureate was the latest overture by leaders of the two nations toward restarting long-stalled peace efforts.

Each country, however, has attached conditions to its offer and accused the other of being insincere, raising doubts about whether negotiations can resume after a seven-year lull.

Peres said direct talks would send an important message that Syria is serious about pursuing peace. In a speech this week, Syrian President Bashar Assad said he is ready to resume talks, but only through a third party.

"If Syria wants true peace, there is no substitute for direct negotiations between it and Israel which will open with a meeting between the leaders and will symbolize mutual recognition, at the opening stage," Peres said at a meeting with China's Mideast envoy.

Peres, a veteran political leader and former prime minister, assumed his largely ceremonial office this week. He immediately said he would use the presidency to continue his longtime efforts for Mideast peace, drawing criticism from Israeli hard-liners that he was overstepping the boundaries of his job.

Miri Eisin, spokeswoman for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, said Olmert had no problem with Peres' comments. "What he says specifically is the prime minister's stance," she said.

Olmert last week said he was ready for direct talks.

Assad responded in a speech Tuesday by saying Syria would resume negotiations in the presence of an honest broker if Israel first promised to return the Golan Heights, captured by the Jewish state in the 1967 Mideast war.

Peace talks broke down in 2000 after Syria demanded that Israel withdraw from the Golan Heights. Israel offered to go back to the international border, but Syria insisted on also controlling another small strip of territory - the east bank of the Sea of Galilee, which it captured during the 1948-49 war. Talks broke down on that point and over the extent of peaceful relations Syria would offer.

Olmert has signaled he is ready to give up the Golan, but has not laid out a formal position.

God said: the land is mine and He gave it to Israel!

Lev.25 [1] And the LORD spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,[23] The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine ; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.

Exod.23 [32] Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.[33] They shall not dwell in thy land , lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.

Isa.14[ 25] That I will break the Assyrian in my land , and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

Jer.2[ 7] And I brought you into a plentiful country, to eat the fruit thereof and the goodness thereof; but when ye entered, ye defiled my land , and made mine heritage an abomination.

Jer.16[ 18] And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.

Joel.3 [2 ] I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

the fifth month

A month to be remembered:

Num.33 [38 ] And Aaron the priest went up into mount Hor at the commandment of the LORD, and died there, in the fortieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the first day of the fifth month .

2Kgs. 25 [8 ] And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month , which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem:[ 9] And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.[10 ] And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.[ 11] Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carry away.

Jer. 52 [12 ] Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem,
[13] And burned the house of the LORD, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire:
[14] And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.
[15] Then Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.
[16] But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for husbandmen.

Zech. 7 [3 ] And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years? [ 4] Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,
[
5] Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?
[6] And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

[7] Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

[8] And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,
[
9] Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:
[
10] And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.
[
11] But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.
[
12] Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
[
13] Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:
[
14] But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

Ezra. 7 [8 ] And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king . [9] For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

Judaism's 9th of Av - no mention of that date in the scriptures.

Let's read...

2Kgs. 25 [3] And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

[8] And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem: [9] And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
[
10] And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
[
11] Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carry away.
[
12] But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.

Ezra .7 [8] And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king. [9] For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem , according to the good hand of his God upon him.

Jer. 1 [1 ] The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
[
2] To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. [3] It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

Jer. 39 [2] And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

Jer.52 [6] And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month , the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land

[12] Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem, [13] And burned the house of the LORD, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire:
[14] And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.
[15] Then Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.
[16] But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for husbandmen.

We read from law and the prophets every Sabbath

60 times in the Gospels and letters it uses the word Sabbat

Acts.13 [13] Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.[14] But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.[15] And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

Acts.15[21] For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

Luke.4[16] And he, Yeshua / Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.[17] And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias.

Acts. 13:27 For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

Acts.13 [42] And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
[44]And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Parshah ( portion ): Devarim 1:1-3:22

D'VARIM (words) DEUTERONOMY 1:1-3:22, Isa. 1:1-27

A small recap of Deut.1

[20] And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which the LORD our God doth give unto us.
[
21] Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
[
22] And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.
[
23] And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:
[
24] And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.
[
25] And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which the LORD our God doth give us.
[26] Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:
[27] And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because the LORD hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
[28] Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.
[29] Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
[
30] The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
[
31] And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
[
32] Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
[
33] Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
[
34] And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
[
35] Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
[
36] Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.
[
37] Also the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.
[
38] But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
[
39] Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

Are you ready for your Giants?

Don't let anyone discourage you from serving the Lord

Some say - Mal.3 [14] Ye have said, It is vain to serve God : and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?

We always have the physical and the spiritual to consider in the scriptures

a reminder of our Spiritual Giants

1Pet.4[ 12] Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you :[13] But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings ; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
[
14] If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

2Cor.10[ 3] For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:[4 ] (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) [5] Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; [6] And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience , when your obedience is fulfilled.

Eph.6[ 10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.[ 11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places .[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.[14 ] Stand therefore , having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;[ 16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.[ 17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:[ 18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;[19 ] And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,[ 20] For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Rev. 12 [12 ] Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

[17] And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

1Pet. 5 [8 ] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil , as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

John 15[ 20] Remember the word that I, Yeshua said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

Mark 10 [ 29] And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,[30] But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

2Tim 3[ 1] This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
[
2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
[
3] Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
[
4] Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
[
5] Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
[
6] For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
[
7] Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
[
8] Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
[
9] But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
[
10] But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
[
11] Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecution s I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. [12] Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Rom.8 [ 35] Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah / Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution , or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?[ 36] As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.[ 37] Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.[ 38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,[39 ] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Messiah Yeshua - Christ Jesus our Lord.
