Shabbat Shalom

שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

We are sadly, still using the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s today in the 21 century

Today is 3/23/2024

March - Mars' month

Middle English March(e)
Anglo-French March(e)
Old English
Martius
Latin
Martius "of Mars"
Latin Marti(s) "Mars" + -us (adj. suffix)
Latin
Martius mensis "month of Mars"

Martius has always had 31 days.

March was the original beginning of the year and the time for the resumption of war.

Mars is the Roman god of war. He is identified with the Greek god Ares.

Yehovah has His own calendar which is deleted from the world

We are now in Adar2, day 12

In three days we will read the book of Esther - Purim

Today’s topic:

It is your choice

God is aware of the knowledge of good and evil thought out infinity

Free will has entered the story

Free will - ability to act at one's own discretion

It is your choice of good or evil

First murder

Gen.4

[1] And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from Yehovah.
[2] And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
[3] And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto Yehovah.
[4] And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And Yehovah had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
[5] But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
[6] And Yehovah said unto Cain, Why art you wroth? and why is your countenance fallen?

[7] If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and

if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And unto your shall be his desire, and you shall rule over him.

[8] And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that
Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

A lie - [9] And Yehovah said unto Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?

Jude reports – Jude 1 [11] Woe unto them! For they have gone in the way of Cain…

Our bible is full of battles, war – good and evil

Good and evil – your choice

Gen.2

[9] And out of the ground made the Yehovah God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

[17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.

Gen.3

[4] And the serpent said unto the woman, you shall not surely die:

[5] For God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
[6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

[7] And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

Heb. 5

[13] For every one that uses milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
[14] But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised
to discern both good and evil.

The words battle and war:

Gen.14 [2] That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.

[8] And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim; [9] With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.

Zech.14 [2] For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.[3] Then shall Yehovah go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

Mic.4 [3] And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Then we have the letters and gospels:

Matt.24 [6] And you shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

1Cor.14 [8] For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

Last words battle and war are here in scripture:

Rev.19 [19] And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

Rev.20 [8] And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Rev.12 [7] And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,

[8] And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

[9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

It is your choice

2 Pet.2

[4] For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

[5] And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

[6] And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

[7] And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filyour conversation of the wicked: [8] For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds…

Jude 1

[6] And the angels who kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he had reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

[7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Deut.30

[19] I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:

therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live: [20] That you may love Yehovah your God, and that you may obey his voice, and that you may cleave unto him: for he is your life, and the length of your days:

that thou may dwell in the land which Yehovah sware unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Josh.24

[14] Now therefore fear Yehovah and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve you Yehovah

[15] And if it seem evil unto you to serve Yehovah,

choose you this day whom you will serve;

Whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell:

but as for me and my house, we will (choose) to serve Yehovah.

It is your choice if you keep the commandments of God or not

Here are 10 commandments of God:

Exod.20

[1] And God spoke all these words, saying,
[
2] I am Yehovah your God, which have brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

1
[
3] You shall have no other gods before me.

2
[
4] You shall not make unto your any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
[
5] You shall not bow down yourself to them, nor serve them: for I Yehovah your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
[
6] And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

3
[
7] You shall not take the name of Yehovah your God in vain; for Yehovah will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.

Catholic Church change the 4th commandment, just about “no one”  keeps it.

4
[8] Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[9] Six days shall thou labor, and do all your work:
[
10] But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yehovah your God: in it thou shall not do any work, thou, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is within your gates:
[
11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yehovah blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

5
[
12] Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be long upon the land which Yehovah your God gives you.

6
[13] You shall not kill.

7
[
14] You shall not commit adultery.

8
[
15] You shall not steal.

9
[
16] You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

10
[
17] You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is your neighbor’s.

There are other commandments (food laws, nakedness, feasts of Yehovah, just to name a few…)

Lev.19

[18] You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am Yehovah.

Your choice to forgive or not forgive, to talk and work things out or not.

Said to say, one of the commandments most of the world does not keep is the 4th commandment. (and others)

1 John 3 [4] whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Exod.20 or Deut.5

Rev.22 [14] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

In closing for today:

It is your choice each day what you are going to do, good or evil

Choose life that you may live

May God bless your lives
