שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today, we sadly use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s.

Today’s date is Oct.22, 2022

October -- the eighth month – now the 10th month

Middle English octobre
Latin October
Latin
octo "eight" + -ber (adj. suffix)
Latin
october mensis "eighth month"

October has always had 31 days.

The God of Israel has His own Calendar: we are now in the 7th month called:

הָאֵתָנִים - ha Ethanim - 25th  day

1Kings 8:2

Today’s Topic:

Repentance and forgiveness

As we see in our life, some people repent; most don’t, some accept Him, and most reject Him.

God has no pleasure in the death of the wicked

Ezekiel 3, 18, 33 says about the same needful things:

Ezek.3

[16] And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of Yehovah came unto me, saying,
[17] Son of man, I have made you a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them
warning from Me.

[18] When I say unto the wicked, you shall surely die; and you give him not warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at your hand.

[19] Yet if you warn the wicked and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

[20] Again, when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because you have not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at your hand.

[21] Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also you have delivered your soul.

Yeshua said:

Mark 2

[15] And it came to pass, that, as Yeshua sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Yeshua and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
[
16] And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, how is it that he eats and drinks with publicans and sinners?

17 When Yeshua heard it, he said unto them, they that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous,(or self righteous) but sinners to repentance.

Matt.11 - here are some cities that repented not:

[16]… whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
[
17] And saying, We have piped unto you, and you have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and you have not lamented.
[
18] For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
[
19] The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

[20] Then began Yeshua to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

[21] Woe unto you, Chorazin! woe unto you, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
[
22] But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
[
23] And you, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shall be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in you, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
[
24] But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the Day of Judgment, than for you.

Luke 13

[1] There were present at that season some that told him of the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
[2] And Yeshua answering said unto them, suppose you that these Galileans were sinners above all the Galileans, because they suffered such things?
[3] I tell you, Nay: but, except you repent,
you shall all likewise perish.
[4] Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, you think that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
[5] I tell you, Nay: but, except you repent,
you shall all likewise perish.

Luke 15

[7] I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

Luke 24

[44] And he said unto them, these are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
[45] Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
[46] And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Messiah to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

[47] And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Luke 3

[1] Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,
[2] Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
[3] And John came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

[4] As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
[5] Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
[6] And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Isa.40

[3] The voice of him that cries in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of Yehovah, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

[4] Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
[5] And the glory of Yehovah shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of Yehovah had spoken it.

[6] The voice said, Cry. And he said, what shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
[7] The grass withers, the flower fades: because the spirit of Yehovah blows upon it: surely the people is grass.
[8] The grass withers, the flower fades: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

  דְבַר־אֱלֹהֵינוּ יָקוּם לְעוֹלָם

Back to Luke 3

[7] Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

[8] Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
[9] And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Mat. 12

[40] For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man, Yeshua be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

[41] The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and, behold, a greater than Jonah is here - Yeshua.

Repent or:
[43] When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.
[44] Then he says, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished.
[45] Then he goes and takes with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Prov.28

[13] He that covers his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy.

Luke 17

[1] Then said Yeshua unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!
[2] It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

[3] Take heed to yourselves: If your brother / sister trespass against you rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
[4] And if he trespass against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to you, saying, I repent; you shall forgive him.

Acts 5

[29] … Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
[
30] The God of our fathers raised up Yeshua, whom you slew and hanged on a tree.
[31] Yeshua had God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

[32] And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God had given to them that obey him.

Acts 26

King Agrippa and Saul /Paul

[9] I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Yeshua of Nazareth.

[10] Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them.

[11] And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.

[12] Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests,

[13] At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
[14] And when we were all fallen to the earth,

I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?

It is hard for you to kick against the pricks.

[15] And I said, who are you, Lord? And he said, I am Yeshua whom you persecute.

[16] But rise, and stand upon your feet: for I have appeared unto you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of these things which you have seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto you;
[17] Delivering you from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send you,
[18] To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in Me.

[19] Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
[20] But showed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance

Eph. 1

[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
[4] According as he hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
[5] Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Yeshua the Messiah to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
[6] To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
[7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace…

Col.1

[14] .. we have redemption through Messiah Yeshua blood, even the forgiveness of sins

1 John1

[9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Pss.32

[5] I acknowledged my sin unto You God, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto Yehovah; and You God forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

Ezek.18

[29] …the house of Israel said, the way of Yehovah is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? Are not your ways unequal?

[30] Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, said Yehovah. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

[31] Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby you have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will you die O house of Israel?

Ezek.33

[11] Say unto them, as I live, said the Lord Yehovah, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn you, turn you from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel?

Matt.3

[2] …Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Matt.10

[7] …as you go preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

1 John 2

[12] I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name's sake.

And so do I write unto you…
