שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today is August 3, 2019 - in the 21 Century

August -- Augustus Caesar's month

Latin Augustus "Augustus"
Latin Augustus mensis "month of Augustus"
Latin sextilis mensis "sixth month"

Sextilis had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

Augustus Caesar clarified and completed the calendar reform of Julius Caesar. In the process, he also renamed this month after himself.

We acknowledge Yehovah’s calendar

We are now in the - 5th month of God, no scriptural name – day 1

Judaism and some Messianics calls this month Ab /Av - made up, wrong, a lie

Today’s topic

A short study: Set, Prepare, Seek, be Mindful, Forget not Yehovah your God

זָכַר zakar {zaw-kar'} Mindful

Meaning:  1) to remember, recall, call to mind 1a) (Qal) to remember, recall 1b) (Niphal) to be brought to remembrance, be remembered, be thought of, be brought to mind 1c) (Hiphil) 1c1) to cause to remember, remind 1c2) to cause to be remembered, keep in remembrance 1c3) to mention 1c4) to record 1c5) to make a memorial, make remembrance

Usage:  AV - remember 172, mention 21, remembrance 10, recorder 9, mindful 6, think 3, bring to remembrance 2, record 2, misc 8; 233

1Chr.16 [15] Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;

Pss.10 [4] The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

Isa.17 [10] Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:
[11] In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.

[12] Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!

[13] The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters:

but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.[14] And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not.

This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.

Prepare

1Sam.7 [3] And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto Yehovah with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto yehovah, and serve him only: and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines. (Your enemies)

Jer.10 [21] For the pastors are become brutish, and have not sought Yehovah: therefore they shall not prosper, and all their flocks shall be scattered.

Brutish: stupid, foolish person

Neh.9 [16]they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments, [17] And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not

Here is some serious verbiage:

Josh.1 [18] Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death: only be strong and of a good courage.

2Chr.15[13] That whosoever would not seek Yehovah God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

Sought Yehovah

2Chr.15 [1] And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
[2] And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin;
Yehovah is with you, while ye be with Him; and if ye seek Him, He will be found of you; but if ye forsake Him, he will forsake you. - No eternal security here

1Chr.28 [9] And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve Him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for Yehovah searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek Him, He will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, He will cast thee off for ever. - No eternal security here

Exod.33 [7] And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought Yehovah went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.

2Chr.14 [1] So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.

[2] And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of Yehovah his God:
[
3] For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:

[4] And commanded Judah to seek Yehovah God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

[5] Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
[
6] And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because Yehovah had given him rest. [7] Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought Yehovah our God, we have sought him, and He hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

2Chr.26 [4] And Uzziah did that which was right in the sight of Yehovah, according to all that his father Amaziah did. [5] And Uzziah sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought Yehovah, God made him to prosper.

Uzziah ended wicked

David said:

Pss.34 [4] I sought Yehovah, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Pss.77 [2] In the day of my trouble I sought Yehovah: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

Seek Yehovah

Deut.4 [29] But if from thence thou shalt seek Yehovah thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. [30] When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to Yehovah thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;[31] (For Yehovah thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

2Chr.19 [1] And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.
[
2] And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate Yehovah? therefore is wrath upon thee from before Yehovah. [3] Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.

2Chr.30 [18] For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good Yehovah pardon every one
[
19] That prepareth his heart to seek God, Yehovah God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.
[
20] And Yehovah hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people. [19] That prepareth his heart to seek God, Yehovah God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.

Pss.14 [1] The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

[2] Yehovah looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
[
3] They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

[4] Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon Yehovah.

[5] There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.

[6] Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because Yehovah is his refuge.

[7] Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when Yehovah bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Pss.53 same as Pss. 14

Pss.69 [30] I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
[
31] This also shall please Yehovah better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
[
32] The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
[
33] For Yehovah heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
[
34] Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and everything that moveth therein.
[
35] For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.
[
36] The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

Deut.4 [29]if from thence thou shalt seek Yehovah thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Pss.34 [10] The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek Yehovah shall not want any good thing.

Pss.105 [3] Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek Yehovah.[4] Seek Yehovah, and his strength: seek his face evermore.

Prov.28 [5] Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek Yehovah understand all things.

Hos.10 [12] Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek Yehovah, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

Amos.5 [6] Seek Yehovah, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and devour it, and there be none to quench it in Bethel.

Zech.8 [21] And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before Yehovah, and to seek Yehovah of hosts: I will go also.[22] Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek Yehovah of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before Yehovah.

The sinners

Deut.32 [18] Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

Pss.104 [35] Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou Yehovah, O my soul. Praise ye Yehovah.

Isa.1 [28] And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake Yehovah shall be consumed.

Isa.13 [9] Behold, the day of Yehovah cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

Isa.33 [14] The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

Amos.9 [10] All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

Same situation at the End of Time:

Zeph.1 [1] The word of Yehovah which came unto Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hizkiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.

[2] I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith Yehovah.

[3] I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumblingblocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the land, saith Yehovah.

[4] I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests;[5] And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops; and them that worship and that swear by Yehovah, and that swear by Malcham;

[6] And them that are turned back from Yehovah; and those that have not sought Yehovah, nor inquired for Him.

[7] Hold thy peace at the presence of Yehovah Yehovah: for the day of Yehovah is at hand: for Yehovah hath prepared a sacrifice, he hath bid his guests.

[8] And it shall come to pass in the day of Yehovah's sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.

[9] In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit.

[10] And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Yehovah, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.

[11] Howl, ye inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the merchant people are cut down; all they that bear silver are cut off.

[12] And it shall come to pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and punish the men that are settled on their lees: that say in their heart, Yehovah will not do good, neither will he do evil.

[13] Therefore their goods shall become a booty, and their houses a desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not drink the wine thereof.

[14] The great day of Yehovah is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of Yehovah: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.

[15] That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,

[16] A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.

[17] And
I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against Yehovah: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.

[18] Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of Yehovah's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealousy: for He shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land.

Saul /Paul said:

Acts.17 [24] God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
[
25] Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though He needed any thing, seeing He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
[
26] And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
[
27] That they should seek Yehovah, if haply they might feel after Him, and find Him, though He be not far from every one of us:
[
28] For in Him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also His offspring.
[
29] Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
[
30] And the times of this ignorance God winked at (was aware of); but - and now commands all men everywhere to repent:

[31] Because He, the Father hath appointed a day, in the which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man Yeshua whom he, the Father hath ordained; whereof He, the Father hath given assurance unto all men, in that He, the Father hath raised him, Yeshua from the dead.

In closing:

Josh.24 [20] If ye forsake Yehovah, and serve strange gods, then He will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that He hath done you good.

My suggestion is that you Set, Prepare, Seek, be Mindful, Forget not Yehovah your God for you good always.
