November 29th, 2014

November -- the ninth month (now the 11th month)

Middle English Novembre
Latin November
Latin Novembris mensis "
ninth month"

Novembris had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long.

We are now in the 9th month called Chislev כִסְלֵו

Today's Topic:

The 9th month called Chislev כִסְלֵו

This maybe a time to consider in prayer, fasting and repenting instead of false merrymaking, shopping and drunkenness…

Let’s consider:

Jer.23

[1] Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith Yehovah.

[2] Therefore thus saith Yehovah God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith Yehovah.

[3] And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
[4] And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith Yehovah.

[5] Behold, the days come, saith Yehovah, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

[6] In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, YEHOVAH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Messiah - a righteous Branch and a King

A different Exodus to think about

[7] Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Yehovah, that they shall no more say, Yehovah liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

[8] But, Yehovah liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

-------------

[9] Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of Yehovah, and because of the words of His holiness.

[10] For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the land mourneth; the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil, and their force is not right.

[11] For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith Yehovah.

[12] Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith Yehovah.

[13] And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.
[14] I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

[15] Therefore thus saith Yehovah of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.

[16] Thus saith Yehovah of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Yehovah.

[17] They say still unto them that despise me, Yehovah hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
[18] For who hath stood in the counsel of Yehovah, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?

[19] Behold, a whirlwind of Yehovah is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

[20] The anger of Yehovah shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly.

[21] I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

[22] But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.

[23] Am I a God at hand, saith Yehovah, and not a God afar off?
[24] Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith Yehovah. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith Yehovah.

[25] I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

[26] How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;

[27] Which think to “cause my people to forget my name” by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.

[28] The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith Yehovah.

[29] Is not my word like as a fire? saith Yehovah; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

[30] Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith Yehovah, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.

[31] Behold, I am against the prophets, saith Yehovah, that use their tongues, and say, He saith.

[32] Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith Yehovah, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith Yehovah.

[33] And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee, saying, What is the burden of Yehovah? thou shalt then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith Yehovah.

[34] And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of Yehovah, I will even punish that man and his house.

[35] Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbour, and every one to his brother, What hath Yehovah answered? and, What hath Yehovah spoken?

[36] And the burden of Yehovah shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of Yehovah of hosts our God.

[37] Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath Yehovah answered thee? and, What hath Yehovah spoken?

[38] But since ye say, The burden of Yehovah; therefore thus saith Yehovah; Because ye say this word, The burden of Yehovah, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of Yehovah;

[39] Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence:
[40] And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten.

Jer.36

[1] And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from Yehovah, saying,

[2] Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

[3] It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.

[4] Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of Yehovah, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.

[5] And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot go into the house of Yehovah:

[6] Therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of Yehovah in the ears of the people in Yehovah's house upon the fasting day: and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.

[7] It may be they will present their supplication before Yehovah, and will return every one from his evil way: for great is the anger and the fury that Yehovah hath pronounced against this people.

[8] And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of Yehovah in Yehovah's house.

[9] And it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before Yehovah to all the people in Jerusalem, and to all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.

[10] Then read Baruch in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of Yehovah, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the higher court, at the entry of the new gate of Yehovah's house, in the ears of all the people.

[11] When Michaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of Yehovah,
[12] Then he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber: and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.

[13] Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
[14] Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come.

So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.

[15] And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So Baruch read it in their ears.
[16] Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the king of all these words.

[17] And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?

[18] Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.

[19] Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye be.

[20] And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.

[21] So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe's chamber.

And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.

[22] Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.

[23] And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

[24] Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

[25] Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had made intercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not hear them.

[26] But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet:

but Yehovah hid them.

[27] Then the word of Yehovah came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,

[28] Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

[29] And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim the king of Judah, Thus saith Yehovah; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

[30] Therefore thus saith Yehovah of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

[31] And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; but they hearkened not.

[32] Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.

Neh.1

[1] The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,

[2] That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
[3] And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.

[4] And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,

[5] And said, I beseech thee, Yehovah God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

[6] Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned.

[7] We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
[8] Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:

[9] But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.

[10] Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.

[11] Yehovah, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.

For I was the king's cupbearer.

Ezra 9

[1] Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites.

[2] For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

[3] And when I heard this thing, I rent my garment and my mantle, and plucked off the hair of my head and of my beard, and sat down astonied.

[4] Then were assembled unto me every one that trembled at the words of the God of Israel, because of the transgression of those that had been carried away; and I sat astonied until the evening sacrifice.

[5] And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto Yehovah my God.

[6] And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.

[7] Since the days of our fathers have we been in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, and our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
[8] And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from Yehovah our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
[9] For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.
[10] And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,
[11] Which thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, unto which ye go to possess it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their uncleanness.
[12] Now therefore give not your daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.
[13] And after all that is come upon us for our evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as this;
[14] Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there should be no remnant nor escaping?
[15] Yehovah God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because of this.

Ezra 10

[1] Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

[2] And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against our God, and have taken strange wives of the people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.

[3] Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of myYehovah, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

[4] Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

[5] Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.

[6] Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.

[7] And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;

[8] And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.

[9] Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days.

It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.

[10] And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.

[11] Now therefore make confession unto Yehovah God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

[12] Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.

[13] But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
[14] Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.

[15] Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.

[16] And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

[17] And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.

[18] And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives:

namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
[19] And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.
[20] And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.
[21] And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
[22] And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.
[23] Also of the Levites; Jozabad, and Shimei, and Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,) Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.
[24] Of the singers also; Eliashib: and of the porters; Shallum, and Telem, and Uri.
[25] Moreover of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, and Jeziah, and Malchiah, and Miamin, and Eleazar, and Malchijah, and Benaiah.
[26] And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, and Abdi, and Jeremoth, and Eliah.
[27] And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, and Jeremoth, and Zabad, and Aziza.
[28] Of the sons also of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.
[29] And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, and Adaiah, Jashub, and Sheal, and Ramoth.
[30] And of the sons of Pahath-moab; Adna, and Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, and Binnui, and Manasseh.
[31] And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,
[32] Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.
[33] Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.
[34] Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,
[35] Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,
[36] Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,
[37] Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,
[38] And Bani, and Binnui, Shimei,
[39] And Shelemiah, and Nathan, and Adaiah,
[40] Machnadebai, Shashai, Sharai,
[41] Azareel, and Shelemiah, Shemariah,
[42] Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.
[43] Of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, and Joel, Benaiah.

[44] All these had taken strange wives: and some of them had wives by whom they had children.

Hag.2

[1] In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of Yehovah by the prophet Haggai, saying,

[2] Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,

[3] Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?

[4] Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith Yehovah; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith Yehovah, and work: for I am with you, saith Yehovah of hosts:
[5] According to the word that I covenanted with you when ye came out of Egypt, so my spirit remaineth among you: fear ye not.

[6] For thus saith Yehovah of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

[7] And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith Yehovah of hosts.

[8] The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith Yehovah of hosts.

[9] The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith Yehovah of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith Yehovah of hosts.

The glory of the latter house was greater because Messiah entered it.

-----------------

[10] In the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Yehovah by Haggai the prophet, saying,

[11] Thus saith Yehovah of hosts; Ask now the priests concerning the law, saying,

[12] If one bear holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and with his skirt do touch bread, or pottage, or wine, or oil, or any meat, shall it be holy? And the priests answered and said, No.

[13] Then said Haggai, If one that is unclean by a dead body touch any of these, shall it be unclean? And the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean.

[14] Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith Yehovah; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

[15] And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of Yehovah:

[16] Since those days were, when one came to an heap of twenty measures, there were but ten: when one came to the pressfat for to draw out fifty vessels out of the press, there were but twenty.

[17] I smote you with blasting and with mildew and with hail in all the labours of your hands; yet ye turned not to me, saith Yehovah.

[18] Consider now from this day and upward, from the four and twentieth day of the ninth month, even from the day that the foundation of Yehovah's temple was laid, consider it.

[19] Is the seed yet in the barn? yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and the pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day will I bless you.

[20] And again the word of Yehovah came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,

[21] Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth;

[22] And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

[23] In that day, saith Yehovah of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith Yehovah, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith Yehovah of hosts.

Zech. 7

[1] And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of Yehovah came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;

[2] When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regem-melech, and their men, to pray before Yehovah,

[3] And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of Yehovah of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?

[4] Then came the word of Yehovah of hosts unto me, saying,

[5] Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

[6] And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

[7] Should ye not hear the words which Yehovah hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

[8] And the word of Yehovah came unto Zechariah, saying,

[9] Thus speaketh Yehovah of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:
[10] And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

[11] But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears that they should not hear.

[12] Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which Yehovah of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from Yehovah of hosts.

[13] Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith Yehovah of hosts:

[14] But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not.

Thus the land was desolate after them that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

In closing:

This maybe a time to consider in prayer, fasting, repenting and soberness rather than false merrymaking and drunkenness…

Watch some current events; it might change some of your old feelings.

Beware of the false image of love and the false feelings and emotions that run wild.

These feasts that are not scriptural bring on loneliness, depression and suicide and oh yes, debt for years to come.

Shabbat Shalom
