 שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s.

August 29, 2020 - in the 21 Century

August -- Augustus Caesar's month

Latin Augustus "Augustus"
Latin Augustus mensis "month of Augustus"
Latin sextilis mensis "sixth month"

Sextilis had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

Augustus Caesar clarified and completed the calendar reform of Julius Caesar. In the process, he also renamed this month after himself.

Yehovah God has His own calendar, which is deleted from the world

We are now in the 6th month of God called Elulday 9

Neh.6 [15] So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul ,  אֱלוּל in fifty and two days

Neh.7 [73] So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and
when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

Today’s Topic:

The God of mercy, mercies

Num.14 [18] Yehovah is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. [19] Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of your mercy, and as you hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

Deut. 5 [8] (The second commandment) You shall not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:
[9] You shall not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I,
Yehovah your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,
[10] And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

2Sam.24 [14] And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Yehovah; for His mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

Neh.9 [18] Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is your God that brought thee up out of Egypt, and had wrought great provocations;

[19] yet you in Your manifold mercies forsook them not in the wilderness: the pillar of the cloud departed not from them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way wherein they should go.

[27] Therefore you delivered them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them: and in the time of their trouble, when they cried unto thee, you heard them from heaven; and according to Your manifold mercies you gave them saviors, who saved them out of the hand of their enemies.

[28] But after they had rest, they did evil again before thee: therefore left you them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them: yet when they returned, and cried unto thee, you heard them from heaven; and many times didst you deliver them according to Your mercies; [29] And testified against them, that you might bring them again unto your law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto your commandments, but sinned against your judgments, (which if a man do, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.

[31] Nevertheless for Your great mercies' sake you didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for You are a gracious and merciful God.

Some Psalms:

Pss.6 [4] Return, O Yehovah, deliver my soul: oh save me for your mercies' sake.

Pss.25 [6] Remember, O Yehovah, Your tender mercies and your loving kindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

Pss.31 [16] Make your face to shine upon your servant: save me for Your mercies' sake.

Pss.40 [11] Withhold not you your tender mercies from me, O Yehovah: let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me.

Pss.44 [26] Arise for our help, and redeem us for your mercies' sake.

Pss.51 [1] Have mercy upon me, O God, according to your loving kindness: according unto the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Pss.69 [16] Hear me, O Yehovah; for your loving kindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of your tender mercies.

Pss.79 [8] O remember not against us former iniquities: let your tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Pss.89 [1] I will sing of the mercies of the Yehovah for ever: with my mouth will I make known your faithfulness to all generations.

Pss.103 [1] Bless Yehovah, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
[2] Bless Yehovah, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
[3] Who forgives all your iniquities;
who heals all your diseases;

[4] Who redeems your life from destruction; who crowns thee with loving kindness and tender mercies;

[5] Who satisfies your mouth with good things; so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
[6] Yehovah executes righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
[7] He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel.
[8] Yehovah is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
[9] He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger forever.
[10] He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
[11] For as the heaven is high above the earth,
so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
[12] As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
[13] Like as a father pities his children, so Yehovah pities them that fear him.
[14]
For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.
[15] As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourishes.
[16] For the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
[17] But the mercy of Yehovah is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;
[18] To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
[19] Yehovah, hath prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom rules over all.
[20] Bless Yehovah, you his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
[21] Bless you Yehovah, all you his hosts; you ministers of His, that do his pleasure.
[22] Bless Yehovah, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless Yehovah, O my soul.

Pss.106 [7] Our fathers understood not your wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of your mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

[45] And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of His mercies.

Pss.119 [41] Let Your mercies come also unto me, O Yehovah, even your salvation, according to your word.

[77] Let your tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for your law is my delight.

[156] Great are your tender mercies, O Yehovah: quicken me according to your judgments.

Pss.145 [9] The Yehovah is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all his works.

Isaiah

Isa.54

[1] Sing, O barren, you that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, says Yehovah.
[
2] Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of your habitations: spare not, lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes;
[
3] For you shall break forth on the right hand and on the left; and your seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
[
4] Fear not; for you shall not be ashamed: neither be you confounded; for you shall not be put to shame: for you shall forget the shame of your youth, and shall not remember the reproach of your widowhood any more.

[5] For your Maker is your husband; Yehovah of hosts is his name; and your Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.

[6] For Yehovah hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when you were refused, says your God.
[
7] For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
[
8] In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, says Yehovah your Redeemer.
[
9] For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
[
10] For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, says Yehovah that hath mercy on thee.
[
11] O you afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay your stones with fair colors, and lay your foundations with sapphires.
[
12] And I will make your windows of agates, and your gates of carbuncles, and all your borders of pleasant stones.
[
13] And all your children shall be taught of Yehovah; and great shall be the peace of your children.
[
14] In righteousness shall you be established: you shall be far from oppression; for you shall not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
[
15] Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for your sake.
[
16] Behold, I have created the smith that blows the coals in the fire, and that brings forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.

[17] No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall raise against thee in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of Yehovah, and their righteousness is of me, says Yehovah.

Isa.63 [7] I will mention the loving kindnesses of Yehovah, and the praises of Yehovah, according to all that Yehovah hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

Jeremiah

Jer.42 [[11] Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid; be not afraid of him, says Yehovah: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand. 12] And I will show mercies unto you, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land.

Lam. 3 [22] It is of Yehovah’s mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. [23] They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

[32] But though He cause grief, yet will He have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies

Dan 9[9] To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against him…

[18] O my God, incline Your ear, and hear; open Your eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.

Saul / Paul

Rom.12

[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
[
2] And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

2Cor.1

[3] Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;[4] Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Phil.2

[1] If there be therefore any consolation in Messiah, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,[2] Fulfill you my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
[
3] Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Col.3

[12] Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; [13] Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Messiah forgave you, so also do you.
[14] And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
[15] And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also you are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Yeshua the Messiah

Matt.5 [7] Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Matt.12

[1] At that time Yeshua went on the Sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungered, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
[
2] But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the Sabbath day.
[
3] But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him;
[
4] How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the showbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
[
5] Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the Sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless?
[6] But I say unto you, that in this place is one greater than the temple.
[
7] But if you had known what this means, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
[
8] For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.

Rom.9 [15] For he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. [16] So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. [17] For the scripture says unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.[18] Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardens.

Rom.11 [30] For as you in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: [31] Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. [32] For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

2 Cor.4

[1] Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

[2] But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
[
3] But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
[
4] In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Messiah, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Eph.2

[1] And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
[
2] Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:
[
3] Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[
5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Messiah, (by grace ye are saved;)
[
6] And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua:
[
7] That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Messiah Yeshua

Tit.3 [5]…according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost…

Jas.2 [13] For He shall have judgment without mercy, that hath showed no mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment.

Jas.5 [11] Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Rom.12

[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
[
2] And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
[
3] For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
[
4] For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
[
5] So we, being many, are one body in Messiah, and every one members one of another.
[
6] Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
[
7] Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching;
[
8] Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
[
9] Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
[
10] Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;
[
11] Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
[
12] Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
[
13] Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
[
14] Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
[
15] Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
[
16] Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.
[
17] Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
[
18] If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men.
[
19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, says the Lord.
[
20] Therefore if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shall heap coals of fire on his head.
[21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

***The Lord Yeshua had mercy on all of them; you can read all these verses yourselves.

Matt.15 [22] And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

Matt.17 [15] Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for often times he falls into the fire, and oft into the water.

Matt.20 [30] And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.[31] And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

Matt.23 [23] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

Mark.10 [47] And when he heard that it was Yeshua of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Yeshua,  thou Son of David, have mercy on me. [48] And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

In conclusion:

Jude.1 [21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah unto eternal life.

[22] And of some have compassion, making a difference:
[23] And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
[24] Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
[25] To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
