שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today is May 23, 2020 – in the 21 century

May - Maia's month

Old French Mai
Old English
Maius
Latin
Maius "of Maia"
Latin
Maius mensis "month of Maia"

Maius has always had 31 days.

Maia (meaning "the great one") is the Italic goddess of spring, the daughter of Faunus, and wife of Vulcan.

We acknowledge Yehovah’s calendar:

We are now in the 2nd month called Ziv – day 29

1Kgs.6[1] And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Yehovah.

The 2nd month is not Iyyar (made – up, a lie) as Judaism states; it is Ziv as scriptures states.

It is now the 6th Sabbath of the 7 Sabbaths we were told to count.

We are on our way to the Feast of Weeks. How are you doing?

New moon Sunday evening - the third month, called Sivan

Esther 8 [9] Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan

סִיוָן Sivan {see-van'} Meaning:  Sivan = "their covering"

Today’s Topic:

The third month, but…

Unbeknownst to me this morning, beside the giving of the law and the giving of the Holy Spirit (Pentecost – Feast of weeks or the story in Esther), was - Pride was raising its head up in the third month

2 Chr. 15

[1] And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
[2] And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin;

Yehovah is with you, while you are with him; and if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

[3] Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

[4] But when they in their trouble did turn unto Yehovah God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

[5] And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
[6] And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city:

 for God did vex them with all adversity.

[7] Be strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

[8] And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of Yehovah, that was before the porch of Yehovah.

[9] And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that Yehovah his God was with him.

***[10] So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

[11] And they offered unto Yehovah the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

[12] And they entered into a covenant to seek Yehovah God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

[13] That whosoever would not seek Yehovah God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

[14] And they swear unto Yehovah with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

[15] And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and Yehovah gave them rest round about.

[16] And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

[17] But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

[18] And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
[19] And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.

A litter more about Asa and his - pride

2 Chr. 16

[1] In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

[2] Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of Yehovah and of the king's house, and sent to Ben-hadad king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying, [3] There is a league between me and you, as there was between my father and your father: behold, I have sent you silver and gold; go, break your league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

[4] And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-maim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
[5] And it came to pass, when Baasha heard it, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.

[6] Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.

[7] And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on Yehovah your God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of your hand.

[8] Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen?

Yet, because you didst rely on Yehovah, he delivered them into your hand.

[9] For the eyes of Yehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

Herein you have done foolishly: therefore from henceforth you shall have wars.

[10] Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing.

And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.

[11] And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, lo, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

[12] And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to Yehovah, but to the physicians.

[13] And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.

[14] And they buried him in his own sepulchers, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries' are: and they made a very great burning for him.

More on the third month:

Ezek.31 - Pride

**** [1] And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the third month, in the first day of the month, that the word of Yehovah came unto me, saying,

[2] Son of man, speak unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, and to his multitude;

Pharaoh King of Egypt?

Pharaohs were in Exodus, Ezekiel was in the captivity.

Let’s read on:

Who are you like in your greatness?

[3] Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches, and with a shadowing shroud, and of a high stature; and his top was among the thick boughs.

[4] The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.

[5] Therefore his height was exalted above all the trees of the field, and his boughs were multiplied, and his branches became long because of the multitude of waters, when he shot forth.

[6] All the fowls of heaven made their nests in his boughs, and under his branches did all the beasts of the field bring forth their young, and under his shadow dwelt all great nations.

[7] Thus was he fair in his greatness, in the length of his branches: for his root was by great waters.

[8] The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chestnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.

[9] I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.

[10] Therefore thus says the Lord Yehovah; because you have lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;

[11] I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the heathen; he shall surely deal with him:

I have driven him out for his wickedness.

[12] And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.

[13] Upon his ruin shall all the fowls of the heaven remain, and all the beasts of the field shall be upon his branches:

[14] To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water:

for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.

[15] Thus says the Lord Yehovah; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning:

I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.

[16] I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit:

and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

[17] They also went down into hell with him unto them that be slain with the sword;

and they that were his arm, that dwelt under his shadow in the midst of the heathen.

[18] To whom are you thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden?

yet shall you be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth:

you shall lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword.

This is Pharaoh andall his multitude”, says the Lord Yehovah.

Satan in the midst - More Pride

Ezek.28

[1] The word of Yehovah came again unto me, saying,

[2] Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus says the Lord Yehovah;

Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas;

 Yet you are a man, and not God, you set your heart as the heart of God:

[3] Behold, you are wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from you:

[4] With your wisdom and with your understanding you have gotten you riches, and have gotten gold and silver into your treasures:

[5] By your great wisdom and by your traffic have you increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches:

[6] Therefore thus says the Lord Yehovah; because you have set your heart as the heart of God;

[7] Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon you, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they shall defile your brightness.

[8] They shall bring you down to the pit, and you shall die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.

[9] Wilt you yet say before him that slays you, I am God? but you shall be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slays you.

[10] You shall die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, says the Lord Yehovah.

[11] Moreover the word of Yehovah came unto me, saying,

[12] Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus says the Lord Yehovah; You seal up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

[13] You have been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of your tabrets and of your pipes was prepared in you in the day that you were created.

[14] You are the anointed cherub that covers; and I have set you so: you were upon the holy mountain of God; you walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

[15] You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till iniquity was found in you.

[16] By the multitude of your merchandise they have filled the midst of you with violence, and you have sinned: therefore I will cast you as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

[17] Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty, you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness: I will cast you to the ground, I will lay you before kings, that they may behold you.

[18] You have defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of you, it shall devour you, and I will bring you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold you.

[19] All they that know you among the people shall be astonished at you: you shall be a terror, and never shall you be any more.

The king of Babylon

Isa.14 [4] you shall take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased, the golden city ceased!

[5] Yehovah hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers.

[6] He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hinders.

[7] The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.

[8] Yea, the fir trees rejoice at you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since you are laid down, no feller is come up against us.

[9] Hell from beneath is moved for you to meet you at thy coming: it stirred up the dead for you, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

[10] All they shall speak and say unto you, Are you also become weak as we? Are you become like unto us?

[11] Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under you, and the worms cover you.

[12] How are you fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!

How are you cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

[13] you have said in your heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

[14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

[15] Yet you shall be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

[16] They that see you shall narrowly look upon you, and consider you, saying, is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

[17] That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?

[18] All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, everyone in his own house.

[19] But you are cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.

[20] You shall not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed thy land, and slain thy people:

the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

A word from Daniel and Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon again

Dan.4

[24] This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:

[25] That they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomsoever he will.

[26] And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots;

your kingdom shall be sure unto you, after that you shall have known that the heavens do rule.

[27] Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto you, and break off your sins by righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of your tranquility.

[28] All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

[29] At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
[30] The king spoke, and said, is not this
great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?

[31] While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken;

The kingdom is departed from you.

[32] And they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make you to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomsoever he will.

[33] The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

[34] And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honored him that lives forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

[35] And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What do you?

[36] At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honor and brightness returned unto me; and my counselors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

[37] Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment:

and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
