Learn not the way of the heathen

Jer.10[ 2] Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen , and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

the customs of the people are vain

[3] For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
[
4] They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

Colossians 2

The letter was written about AD 64 - A province in Asia Minor, in the neighbourhood of Laodicea and Hierapolis, city of Phrygia.

It is said that this letter was written when Paul was bond in Rome.

Col.4[18] The salutation by the hand of me Paul. "Remember my bonds." Grace be with you. Amen.

Col.2[1 ] For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
[
2] That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; Messiah
[3] In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
[4] And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.
[5] For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
[
6] As ye have therefore received Messiah / Christ - Yeshua / Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

[7] Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

[8] Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ / Messiah.

Inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit

Jer.16[ 19] O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

[9] For in him ( the Messiah ) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
[
10] And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
[
11] In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: / Messiah.
[12] Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
[
13] And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him,

having forgiven you all trespasses; ( which have judgments ) [14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was "against us", which was "contrary to us", and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

The curses are the judgments we would have received. They were "against us", "contrary to us". Thank God for the Messiah and His death on the tree which set us free.

Rom.3[ 25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past , through the forbearance of God;

Eph.1[ 7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins , according to the riches of his grace;

Col.1[ 14] In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins :

1John.2[ 12] I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

Ezek.18 [21] But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

[27] Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. [28] Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

Mic.7[ 19] He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea .

**back to Colossians 2

[15] And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:[17] Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

All things of God are replaced by most people of the earth

God told us about clean and unclean foods - Now people eat and drink anything.

Holydays and Feasts of the Lord are replaced by all the pagan feasts and traditions of the world.

God's calendar is replaced by Pope Greg's calendar.

New moon is not talked about any more except in wiccan pagan circles.

God's Sabbath, the 7th day is replaced by the 1st day of the week.

The "shadows of things to comes" from Messiah's body are obscured and forgotten by most people on the earth.

Deut.32[ 18] Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten God that formed thee.

Deut.4[ 9] Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;

[23] Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.

Deut.6[ 12] Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

Deut.8[ 11] Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

[14] Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget the LORD thy God , which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

[19] And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.

**back to Colossians 2

[18] Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
[
19] And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

[20] Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
[
21] (Touch not; taste not; handle not;[22] Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

[23] Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Bad Traditions

Matt.15[ 3]Yeshua said:....... Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

[6] ... Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

Mark.7[ 13] Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

[9] And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Col.2[ 8] Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men , after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

1Pet.1[ 18] Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers ;[19 ] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: [20 ] Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

False feasts in Scripture that lead to other Gods

a "False" feast is a sin

Exod.32 one calf

[1] And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.
[
2] And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons , and of your daughters , and bring them unto me.
[
3] And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

[4] And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf : and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. [5 ] And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD .

[6] And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

[7] And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:
[
8] They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

[9] And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
[
10] Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.
[
11] And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?
[
12] Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.
[
13] Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.
[
14] And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
[
15] And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
[
16] And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.
[
17] And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.
[
18] And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.
[
19] And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing : and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.
[
20] And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

[21] And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?
[
22] And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.
[
23] For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

[24] And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

[25] And when Moses saw that the people were naked ; ( for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies: )

[26] Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.
[
27] And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
[
28] And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
[29] For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.
[
30] And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin : and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.
[31] And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.
[
32] Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.
[
33] And the LORD said unto Moses , Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
[
34] Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
[
35] And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf , which Aaron made .

1Kgs.12 two calves - sin

[1 ] And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.
[
2 ] And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
[
3 ] That they sent and called him. And Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto Rehoboam, saying,
[
4 ] Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
[
5 ] And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
[
6 ] And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men , that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
[
7 ] And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
[
8 ] But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
[
9 ] And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
[
10 ] And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father's loins.
[
11 ] And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
[
12 ] So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
[
13 ] And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men's counsel that they gave him;
[
14 ] And spake to them after the counsel of the young men , saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
[
15 ] Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
[
16 ] So when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto their tents.
[
17 ] But as for the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
[
18 ] Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. Therefore king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
[
19 ] So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.
[
20 ] And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
[
21 ] And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all the house of Judah, with the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
[
22 ] But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
[
23 ] Speak unto Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
[
24 ] Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.

[25 ] Then Jeroboam built Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and went out from thence, and built Penuel.
[
26 ] And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom return to the house of David:
[
27 ] If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem , then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to Rehoboam king of Judah.

-------------
[
28 ] Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold , and said unto them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

[29 ] And he set the one in Bethel, and the other put he in Dan.

[30 ] And this thing became a sin : for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan .
[
31 ] And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.

[32 ] And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah ( feast of Tabernacles - 7th month ), and he offered upon the altar. So did he in Bethel, sacrificing unto the calves that he had made: and he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places which he had made.
[
33 ] So he offered upon the altar which he had made in Bethel the fifteenth day of the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto the children of Israel: and he offered upon the altar, and burnt incense.
