Shabbat Shalom

שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today, we sadly use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s.

Today’s date is Jan. 28, 2023

January - Janus's month

Middle English Januarie
Latin Januarius "of Janus"
Latin Janu(s) "Janus" + -arius "ary (pertaining to)"
Latin Januarius mensis "month of Janus"

Janus is the Roman god of gates and doorways, depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions. His festival month is Januarius which had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

The God of Israel has His own Calendar: we are now in the 11th month of God called Sebat / Sh’vat שְׁבָט

Day 5

Zech.1 [1] [7] Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat / Sh’vat שְׁבָט

Today’s Topic:

The Word, Messiah Yeshua

John 1 [1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[3] All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.
[4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[5] And the light shines in darkness; and
the darkness comprehended it not.

[14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

We read many times in TaNaK the Word of Yehovah came speaking to many people.

Here is the Word of Yehovah that was made flesh speaking again in the Gospels as Yeshua.

Some quotes of Messiah Yeshua:

Yeshua, quoting Torah said to Satan,

Matt.4 [7] Yeshua said unto Satan, It is written again, You shall not tempt Yehovah your God.

Deut.6

[16] You shall not tempt Yehovah your God, as you tempted him in Massah.

Matt.8

[5] And when Yeshua was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
[6] And saying, Lord, my servant lies at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
[7] And Yeshua said unto him, I will come and heal him.
[8] The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
[9] For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
[10] When Yeshua heard it, he marveled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

[11] And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
[12] But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

[13].. Yeshua said unto the centurion, Go your way; and as you have believed, so be it done unto you. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

[18] Now when Yeshua saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.
[19] And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow you whithersoever you go.

[20] And Yeshua said unto him, the foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man had not where to lay his head.
[21] And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

[22] But Yeshua said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Matt.9

[14] Then came to him, Yeshua, the disciples of John, saying, why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples fast not?
[15] And Yeshua said unto them, Can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them?

But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

Matt.13

[54] And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, whence had this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?
[55] Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
[56] And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then had this man all these things?

[57] And they were offended in him.

But Yeshua said unto them, A prophet is not without honor, save in his own country, and in his own house.

[58] And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Matt.14

[14] … Yeshua went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.

[15] And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

[16] But Yeshua said unto them, They need not depart; give you them to eat.

[17] And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
[18] He said, bring them hither to me.
[19] And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
[20] And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
[21] And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

Matt.15

[10] And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
[11] Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defiles a man.
[12] Then came his disciples, and said unto him, know you that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
[13] But he answered and said, every plant, which my heavenly Father had not planted, shall be rooted up.
[14] Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

[15] Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

[16] And Yeshua said, Are you also yet without understanding?

[17] Do not you yet understand that whatsoever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
[18] But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
[19] For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
[20] These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defiles not a man.

Matt.16

[5] And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
[6] Then Yeshua said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

[7] And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

[8] Which when Yeshua perceived, he said unto them, O you of little faith, why reason you among yourselves, because you have brought no bread?

[9] Do you not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

[10] Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

[11] How is it that you do not understand that I spoke it not to you concerning bread that you should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

[12] Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (Hypocrisy)

Matt.17

[14] And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
[15] Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatic, and sore vexed: for often times he falls into the fire, and oft into the water.
[16] And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not cure him.

[17] Then Yeshua answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me.

[18] And Yeshua rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

[19] Then came the disciples to Yeshua apart, and said, why could not we cast him out?

[20] And Yeshua said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. [21] Howbeit this kind goes not out but by prayer and fasting.

[22] And while they abode in Galilee, Yeshua said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: [23] And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

Matt.19

[13] Then were there brought unto him little children that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

[14] But Yeshua said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

[15] And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

[16] And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

[17] And he said unto him, why do you call me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments.

[18] He said unto him, which?

Yeshua said, You shall do no murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, [19] Honor your father and your mother: and, Thou shalt love your neighbor as thyself.
[20] The young man said unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

[21] Yeshua said unto him, If you will be perfect, go and sell that you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

[22] But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

[23] Then said Yeshua unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
[24] And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

[25] When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
[26] But Yeshua beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

[27] Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed you; what shall we have therefore?

[28] And Yeshua said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that you which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Matt.22

[35] Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
[36] Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

[37] Yeshua said unto him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.[38] This is the first and great commandment.

[39] And the second is like unto it, You shall love your neighbor as thyself.
[40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Matt.24

[1] And Yeshua went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to show him the buildings of the temple.

[2] And Yeshua said unto them, See you not all these things? Verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

[3] And as he Yeshua sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately saying, tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of your coming, and of the end of the world?

Matt.26

[31] Then said Yeshua unto them, All you shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.

Zech.13 [7] Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, said Yehovah of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered…

[32] But after I am raised again, I will go before you into Galilee.

[33] Peter answered and said unto him, though all men shall be offended because of you, yet will I never be offended.

[34] Yeshua said unto him, Verily I say unto you, that this night, before the cock crow, you shall deny me thrice.

[47] And while he yet spoke, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
[48] Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast.
[49] And forthwith he came to Yeshua and said, Hail, master; and
kissed him.

Luke 22 [48] But Yeshua said unto him, Judas, you betray the Son of man with a kiss?

Yeshua died for us and rose again for us

Matt. 28 [16] Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Yeshua had appointed them.

[17] And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

[18] And Yeshua came and spoke unto them, saying,

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

[19] Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

[20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We need to finish our work for God

Finish:  Διανύω - dianuō - dee-an-oo'-o : to effect; to accomplish thoroughly.

Rom.9

[28] For he, Yeshua will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.

2 Tim.4

[7] I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: [8] Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his, Yeshua appearing.

Heb.12

[1] Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

[2] Looking unto Yeshua the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. [3] For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds.

Rev.10

[7] But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

Rev.11

[3] … I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
[4] These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
[5] And if any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devoured their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
[6] These have power to shut heaven that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

[7] And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

[8] And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
[9] And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
[10] And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
[11] And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which
saw them.
[12] And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

Finally: λοιπόν loipon loy-pon' : something remaining (adverb): - besides, finally, furthermore, (from) henceforth, moreover, now, + it remains, then.

Eph.6

[10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
[11] Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
[14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
[16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
[18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…

Phil.3

[1] Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous but for you it is safe.
[2] Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.
[3] For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Messiah Yeshua and have no confidence in the flesh.

Phil.4

[8] Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
[9] Those things, which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

2 Thes.3

[1] Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
[2] And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
[3] But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.

1Pet.3

[8] Finally, be you all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
[9] Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that you are thereunto called, that you should inherit a blessing.

1Pet.4

[7] …the end of all things is at hand:

be you therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
[8] And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
[9] Use hospitality one to another without grudging.

[12] Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

[13] But rejoice, inasmuch as you are partakers of Messiah’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.

[14] If you be reproached for the name of Messiah, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

[15] But
let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

[16] Yet if any man or woman suffer as a Messiah follower, Christian let them not be ashamed; but let them glorify God on this behalf.

[17] For the time is come
that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

[18] And if the righteous scarcely be saved,
where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

[19] Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Ecclesiastes 12

[13] Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

[14] For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

John 5 - Yeshua said:

[39] Search the scriptures;

for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me, Yeshua.

2 Cor.13

[11] Finally, brethren, farewell.

Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. Amen

In closing for now,

Amazingly, we do have some of the words and events of Messiah Yeshua today.

As John puts it:

John 21

[25] And there are also many other things which Yeshua did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.

Amen.

God bless you all
