Shabbat Shalom

 שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today is November 16, 2019

November -- the nineth month (now the 11th month)

Middle English Novembre
Latin November
Latin Novembris mensis "nineth month"

Novembris had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long.

We acknowledge Yehovah’s calendar

We are now in the eight month of God called “Bool – 18th day” in the Hebrew Bible, not Marcheshvan that is made up in Judaism

1Kgs.6[38] And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul /Bool which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he, Solomon was seven years in building it.

Today’s Topic:

1 John 5 [19] And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lies in wickedness.

Wicked The Musical, Tickets on sale now – not for me

The Dictionary is not any better:  Wicked: evil or morally bad in principle or practice; sinful; iniquitous: wicked people; wicked habits.

The Scriptures tell us a different story:

Below, these attributes / traits are wicked:

Deut. 18: [9] When thou art come into the land which Yehovah thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,

[11] Or a charmer , or a consulter with familiar spirits , or a wizard , or a necromancer. [12] For all that do these things are an abomination unto Yehovah: and because of these abominations Yehovah thy God doth drive them out from before thee.

The Bible has a different “take” on the word “wicked”, let’s review:

Gen.6 [5] And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

[6] And it repented Yehovah that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
[
7] And Yehovah said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Exod.23 [1] Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.

[7] Keep thee far from a false matter; and the innocent and righteous slay thou not: for I will not justify the wicked.

Lev.18 [17] Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter, neither shalt thou take her son's daughter, or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; for they are her near kinswomen: it is wickedness.

Lev.19 [29] Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.

Lev.20 [14] And if a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you.

Deut.25 [1] If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

1Sam.2 [9] God will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

1Sam.24 [13] As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked:

2Sam.7 [10] Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,

Job.4 [8] Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.

Job.9 [22] This is one thing, therefore I said it, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.

Job.20 [5] That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

Job.31 [3] Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?

Job.40 [12] Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

Psalms and Proverbs are filled with verses, here are some

Pss.7 9] Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.

[11] God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

Pss.9 [5] Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.

[16] Yehovah is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.[17] The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Pss.10 [2] The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.[3] For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom Yehovah abhorreth.

[4] The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

[13] Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.

[15] Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.

Pss.11 [2] For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.

[5] Yehovah trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

[6] Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

Pss.12 [8] The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.

Pss.17 [9] From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

[13] Arise, Yehovah, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

Pss.22 [16] For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

Pss.26 [5] I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

Pss.27 [2] When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Pss.28 [3] Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.

[4] Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.

Pss.31 [17] Let me not be ashamed, Yehovah; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.

Pss.32 [10] Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in Yehovah, mercy shall compass him about.

Pss.34 [21] Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

Pss.36 [1] The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

[11] Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

Pss.37 [10] For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.

[12] The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

[14] The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.

[17] For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but Yehovah upholdeth the righteous.

[20] But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of Yehovah shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

[21] The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.

[28] For Yehovah loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.

[32] The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

[34] Wait on Yehovah, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

[35] I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.

[36] Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
[37] Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.

[38] But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.

[40] And Yehovah shall help them and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.

Pss.39[1] I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

Pss.50 [16] But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?

Pss.55 [3] Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

Pss.58 [3] The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

[10] The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.

Pss.64 [2] Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

Pss.68 [2] As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

Pss.71 [4] Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.

Pss.73 [3] For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
[4] For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
[5] They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
[6] Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
[7] Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
[8] They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
[9] They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.

Pss.74 [19] O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.

Pss.75 [4] I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:

[8] For in the hand of Yehovah there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.

[10] All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

Pss.82 [2] How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

[4] Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

Pss.91 [8] Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.

Pss.92 [7] When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

[11] Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

Pss.94[3] LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

[13] That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

Pss.97 [10] Ye that love Yehovah, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

Pss.104 [35] Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou Yehovah, O my soul. Praise ye Yehovah.

Pss.106 [18] And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.

Pss.109 [2] For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

Pss.112 [10] The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.

Pss.119 [53] Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

[61] The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.

[95] The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.

[110] The wicked have laid a snare for me: yet I erred not from thy precepts.

[119] Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: therefore I love thy testimonies.

[155] Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes.

2Thes.2

[1] Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, and by our gathering together unto him,
[2] That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Messiah is at hand.
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and
that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
[5] Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
[6] And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
[7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
[8] And then shall
that Wicked be revealed, whom Yehovah shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
[9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
[10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
[11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
[12] That
they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
[13] But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of Yehovah, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
[14] Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
[15] Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
[16] Now our Lord Yeshua the Messiah himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
[17] Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

Matt. 13:18 the wicked one is Satan.

Matt.13 [36] Then Yeshua sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
[37] He answered and said unto them, He that
soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

[38] The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

[39] The enemy that sowed them is the devil;

the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

[40] As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

[41] The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
[42] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

[43] Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.

Isa.11 Messiah

[1] And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
[2] And the spirit of Yehovah shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Yehovah;
[3] And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of Yehovah: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
[4] But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall
he slay the wicked.

Ezek.18 [20] The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

[27] Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

Ezek.33 [12] Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.

[19] But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

In closing for now:

Believe it or not, this is just a sample of the words wicked and wickedness.

I hope you see that the word wicked is not a good thing. J

So should we use this term Wicked so loosely? I think not.

Be safe out there; always watch all around you wherever you are.

Shabbat Shalom
