One in Messiah Congregation
Yeshus is both Messiah, son of Joseph and Messiah, son of David
John.1[ 45] Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Yeshua / Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
John.6[ 42] And they said, Is not this Yeshua / Jesus, the son of Joseph , whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
Luke.3[ 23] And Yeshua / Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph

Matt.1[ 1] The book of the generation of Yeshua the Messiah / Jesus Christ, the son of David , the son of Abraham.
[6] And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias
[16] And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Yeshua / Jesus, who is called Messiah / Christ .[17] So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Messiah / Christ are fourteen generations.
Matt.9[ 27] And when Yeshua / Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David , have mercy on us.
Matt.12[ 23] And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
Matt.15[ 22] And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David ; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
Matt.20[ 30] And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. [ 31] And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.

Pss.118[
21] I will praise thee: for
thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
[22] The stone which the builders
refused is become the head stone of the corner.
[23] This is the LORD's doing;
it is marvellous in our eyes.
[24] This is the day which the
LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
[25]
Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity
.
Mal.3[
1] Behold, I will send my messenger,
and he shall prepare the way before ( Messiah ) Me:
and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall
suddenly come to this temple,
even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight
in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Matt.22[

Mark.10[
47] And when he heard that it
was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say,
Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. [
48] And many charged him that
he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal,
Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
Mark.12[
35] And Jesus answered and said,
while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that
Messiah / Christ is the Son of David?
Luke.3[
23] And
Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed)
the son of Joseph, which was the
son ( in law ) of Heli,
Mary's father
[31] Which was
the son of Melea, which was the son of Menan, which was the son of Mattatha,
which was the son of Nathan, which was the
son of David,
[38] Which was
the son of Enos, which was the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam,
which was the son of God.
Luke.18[
38] And he cried, saying,
Jesus, thou Son of David, have
mercy on me. [39] And they which
went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much
the more, Thou Son of David,
have mercy on me.
The Two-Messiah Theory
When one studies rabbinic views of the Messiah one finds
something very interesting. Many ancient rabbis spoke of two Messiahs, one
who was the "Son of David" and another who was the "Son of Joseph."
Though one can find the sufferings of Messiah attributed to the sufferings
of the Davidic Messiah in many rabbinic writings, often a second Messiah is
posited, the "Son of Joseph" or "Son of Ephraim," who is
the one who suffers while the Davidic Messiah conquers. The rabbis struggled
with Biblical portraits of a suffering Messiah, as found in Isaiah 53 and other
places, and portraits of a conquering Messiah, also found in the Hebrew Bible.
They posited two Messiahs, but could it not also be reasonable to believe there
is just one Messiah but two aspects of his mission, a suffering aspect and
a conquering aspect?
The eminent scholar Raphael Patai, who "taught Hebrew
at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem" and served as Professor of Anthropology
at Dropsie University,1said this of the two-messiah
theory:
"When the death of the Messiah became an established
tenet in Talmudic times, this was felt to be irreconcilable with the belief
in the Messiah as Redeemer who would usher in the blissful millennium of the
Messianic Age. The dilemma was solved by splitting the person of the Messiah
in two: one of them, called Messiah ben Joseph, was to raise the armies of
Israel against their enemies, and, after many victories and miracles, would
fall victim Gog and Magog. The other, Messiah ben David, will come after him
(in some legends will bring him back to life,
which psychologically hints at the identity of the
two), and will lead Israel to the
ultimate victory, the triumph, and the Messianic era of bliss."
