Parshah: Vayikra - Lev. 1 to 5
Last week's Torah portion, we talked about the red heifer, purity...
Num.19 [2 ] This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:
Heb.9 [13] For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an ( red ) heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:[14] How much more shall the blood of Messiah /Christ , who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
1Tim.4 -[12 ] Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1Tim.5 -[2 ] The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
We read in today's Torah portion about offerings and atonement for different sins.
Lev.1 [1
] And the LORD called unto Moses, and spake unto him
out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,
[2] Speak unto the children
of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring
an offering
unto the LORD,
ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd,
and of the flock.
[3] If his offering be a burnt
sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer
it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation
before the LORD.

, that is to say,
a gift, by whatsoever
thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.

Peter records:
1Pet.2
[5
] Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a
spiritual house, an holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual
sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
[9] But
ye are a chosen generation, a
royal priesthood
, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should
shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his
marvellous light:
Mark.12 - [
28] And one of the scribes
came, and having heard them reasoning together, and
perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him,
Which is the first commandment of all?
[29] And Yeshua
/ Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments
is, Hear, O
Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
[32] And the
scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is
one God; and there is none other but he:[33
] And to love him with all the heart, and with all the
understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love
his neighbour as himself, is more than
all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
[34] And when
Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him,
Thou art not far from the kingdom of God
. And no man after that durst ask him any question.
The word
"Law"
has many applications
Gal.3
[19]
Wherefore then serveth the law? ( talking about the
"Levitical priesthood"
here )
,
"
It
" ( refers to sacrifices
) was
"added because of transgressions"
...
Heb.7
- [11] If therefore perfection were by
the "
Levitical priesthood",
(for under it the people received
the law,)
...
Below are just a few scriptures
that show what God "first required"
before the people turned from Him.
Jer.7
[22] For
I spake not unto your fathers
, nor commanded them in the day that I brought
them out of the land of Egypt, concerning
burnt offerings or sacrifices:
[23] But this
thing commanded I them,
saying,
Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and
ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you,
that it may be well unto you.
Deut.10
[12
] And now, Israel, what
doth the LORD thy God require of thee,
but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and
to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all
thy soul,
Mic.6
[8]
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and
what doth the LORD require of thee
, but to do justly, and to love
mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
1Sam.15
[22
] And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great
delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold,
to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Pss.51
[16
] For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou
delightest not in burnt offering.[17]
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:
a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt
not despise.
Hos.6
[6]
For I desired
mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings
.[7] But they like men have
transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.
Isa.1
[11]
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices
unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the
burnt offerings of rams, and the fat
of fed beasts; and
I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or
of lambs, or of he goats.
[12] When ye come to appear before me, who hath required
this at your hand, to tread my courts?
your hands are full of blood.
[16] Wash you,
make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease
to do evil;
[20] But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with
the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
Hebrews chapter 10
Heb.10 [
1] For the law having a shadow of good
things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those
sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto
perfect.
Pss.40
[6
] Sacrifice and offering
thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened
:
burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not
required.[7] Then said I, Lo, I
come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
[8] I delight
to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
back to Heb.10
[8] Above when he said, Sacrifice
and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither
hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
[9]
Then said he,
Lo, I come to do thy will, O God
. He taketh away
the first ( animal
scarifices ), that he may establish
the second.
[10] By the which will we are sanctified
through the offering of "the
body of Yeshua the Messiah - Jesus
Christ" once for all.
[11] And every
priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices,
which can never take away sins: ( forever )
[12] But this
man, after he had offered one sacrifice
for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
[13] From henceforth
expecting till his enemies be made his footstool
.
Pss.110
[1
] The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until
I make thine enemies thy footstool.
back to Heb.10
[14] For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
[15] Whereof
the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Jer. 31 -[
16] This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and
in their minds will I write them;[17
] And their sins and iniquities will I
remember no more.
back to Heb.10
[20] By a new
and living way, which he hath consecrated for us,
through the veil, that is to say,
his flesh;
[21] And having
an high priest over the house of God
;
[23] Let us
hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful
that promised;)
[26] For if
we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there
remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
[28] He that
despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
[29]
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose
ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under
foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith
he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of
grace?
Deut.32

to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured
a great fight of afflictions;

Sanhedrin to Purchase Sheep
for Passover Sacrifice
reprinted from 24/3/07
- Feb 28, '07 / 10 Adar 5767
(IsraelNN.com) The modern-day Sanhedrin, headed by Rabbi Adin
Steinsaltz, has decided to purchase a herd of sheep to be used
for the Passover sacrifice ritual
to be held this year if possible at the Temple Mount.
The Sanhedrin, which was formed several years ago, meets once
a week, according to the Haaretz news service, in what it says is a renewal
of the Jewish High Court that existed more than a thousand years ago.
A member of the Sanhedrin, Professor Hillel
Weiss, said in an interview that the symbolic Passover sacrifice is intended
to remind Jews that the Temple rituals will resume when the Messiah comes.
ONE SACRIFICE FOR SINS FOREVER
No more daily sacrifice needed
Heb.7[
27] Who needeth not daily,
as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first
for his own sins, and then for the people's: for
this he did once
, when he offered up himself.
Heb.9[
12] Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood
he entered in once
into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for
us.
[26] For then must he often have suffered since the foundation
of the world: but now once
in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away
sin by the sacrifice of himself.
[28] So Messiah
/ Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many
; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without
sin unto salvation.
Heb.10
[10] By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body
of Jesus Christ once for all.
[11] And every priest
standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes
the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
[12] But
this man, Yeshua, after he had
offered one
sacrifice for sins for ever,
sat down on the right hand of God;
Rom.6[
10] For in that he died,
he died unto sin once
1Cor.5[7] Purge out therefore the old leaven,
that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Messiah / Christ
our passover is sacrificed for us:
Eph.5[2] And walk in love, as Christ also
hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to
God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Phil.4[18] But I have all, and abound: I
am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you,
an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
Heb.13[16] But to do good and to communicate
forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
1Pet.2[5] Ye also, as lively stones, are
built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices,
Rom.12[1] I beseech you therefore, brethren,
by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
LEVITES ARE A SHADOW OF MESSIAH'S PRIESTHOOD
Exod.40[
13] And thou shalt put upon
Aaron the holy garments, and anoint him
, and sanctify him; that he may minister unto me in the
priest's office.[
14] And thou shalt bring his sons,
and clothe them with coats:[15
] And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father,
that they may minister unto me in the priest's office
: for their anointing shall
surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations
.
Num.25[
10] And the LORD spake unto
Moses, saying,[11]
Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son
of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel,
while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children
of Israel in my jealousy.[12
] Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:[
13] And he shall have it, and
his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting
priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and
made an atonement for the children of Israel.
New Priesthood
, other priesthoods
Heb.7
[1] For this
Melchisedec,
king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham
returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
[5] And verily
they that are of the sons of Levi
, who receive the office of the priesthood
, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according
to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of
Abraham:
[11] If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood,
(for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that
another priest
should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called
after the order of Aaron?
[12] For the
priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
[17] For he testifieth,
Thou art a priest for ever after the order
of Melchisedec.
Pss.110
[4] The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent,
Thou art a priest for ever after the
order of Melchizedek.
Heb.7 [18
] For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment
going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
[23] And they truly were many priests, because they were
not suffered to continue by reason of death:
We are priests, Yeshua is the high priest,
we offer
up spiritual sacrifices
1Pet.2[

so will we render

Heb.13
[15] By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of
praise to God continually, that is,
the fruit of our lips
giving thanks to his name.

Rev.1[
6] And
hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father;
to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Rev.5[
10] And
hast made us unto our God kings and priests
: and we shall reign on the earth.
Rev.20[
6] Blessed and holy is he that
hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power,
but they shall be

and shall reign with him a thousand years.
We are the TEMPLE of God
1Cor.3
[16] Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and
that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
[17] If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God
destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1Cor.6[
19] What?
know ye not that your body is the temple of
the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God,
and ye are not your own?
2Cor.6[
14] Be ye not unequally yoked
together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
and what communion hath light with darkness?[15
] And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part
hath he that believeth with an infidel?[16
] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living
God; as God hath said, I will
dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be
my people.[17
] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith
the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,[
18] And will be a Father unto
you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Messiah is our offering
Acts.21
[26
] Then Paul took the men, and the next day purifying himself with
them entered into the temple, to signify the accomplishment of the days of
purifcation, until that an offering
should be offered for every one of them.
Rom.15
[16
] That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles,
ministering the gospel of God, that the offering
up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified
by the Holy Ghost.
Eph.5
[2]
And walk in love, as Messiah / Christ
also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an
offering and a sacrifice to God for
a sweetsmelling savour.
Heb.10
[5
] Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice

Zech.8 [

In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all

about Jews in Judaism who have not received the Messiah Yeshua.

Who is a

John.3 [

but he that believeth

he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both

SHALOM
----
[30] And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all
thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:
this is the first commandment.
[31]
And the second is like, namely
this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour
as thyself. There is none other
commandment greater than these.
[24]
But they hearkened not, nor inclined
their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil
heart, and went backward, and not forward.[25] Since the day that your fathers
came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you
all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:
[26]
Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor
inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.
[13] Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new
moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity,
even the solemn meeting.
[14] Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble
unto me; I am weary to bear them.
[15] And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea,
when ye make many prayers, I will not hear:
[17] Learn to do well; seek
judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
[18] Come now, and let us reason
together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as
white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
[19] If ye be willing and obedient,
ye shall eat the good of the land:
[2] For then would they not
have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should
have had no more conscience of sins.
[3] But in those sacrifices
there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
[4] For it is not possible that
the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
[5] Wherefore when he cometh
into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body
hast thou prepared me:
[6] In burnt offerings and sacrifices
for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
[7]
Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to
do thy will, O God.
[18]
Now where remission of these is, there
is no more offering for sin. ( We don't need any
more animal sacrifices )
[19] Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter
into the holiest by the blood of
Yeshua / Jesus,
[22] Let us draw near with a
true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled from an evil conscience, and
our bodies washed with pure water. ( red heifer )
[24] And let us consider one
another to provoke unto love and to good works:
[25] Not forsaking the assembling
of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:
and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
[27] But a certain fearful looking
for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
[30] For we know him that hath
said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again,
The Lord shall judge his people.
[31]
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
[33] Partly, whilst ye were
made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye
became companions of them that were so used.
[34] For ye had compassion of
me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves
that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
[35] Cast not away therefore
your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
[36] For ye have need of patience,
that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
[37] For yet a little while,
and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
[38] Now the just shall live
by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
[39] But we are not of them
who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the
soul.
[2]
To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation
King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem,
which is, King of peace;
[3] Without
father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days,
nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually
.
[4] Now consider how great this
man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
[6] But
he whose descent is not counted from them
received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
[7] And without all contradiction
the less is blessed of the better.
[8] And here men that die receive
tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
[9] And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes,
payed tithes in Abraham.
[10] For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
[13]
For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which
no man gave attendance at the altar.
[14] For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda
; of which tribe Moses spake
nothing concerning priesthood.
[15] And it is yet far more
evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec
there ariseth another priest
,
[16] Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the
power of an endless life.
[19] For the law made nothing
perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh
unto God.
[20] And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made
priest:
[21] (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by
him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent,
Thou art a priest for ever after the order
of Melchisedec:)
[22] By so much was Yeshua - Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
[24] But this man, because he continueth
ever , hath
an unchangeable priesthood.
[25] Wherefore he is able also to
save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth
to make intercession for them.
[26]
For such an high priest became
( for ) us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made
higher than the heavens;
[27] Who needeth not daily,
as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then
for the people's: for this he did once,
when he offered up himself.
[28]
For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity;
but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the
Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
but as touching the election, they are beloved for
the fathers' sakes.
