שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today is August 17, 2019 - in the 21 Century

August -- Augustus Caesar's month

Latin Augustus "Augustus"
Latin Augustus
mensis "month of Augustus"
Latin
sextilis mensis "sixth month"

Sextilis had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

Augustus Caesar clarified and completed the calendar reform of Julius Caesar. In the process, he also renamed this month after himself.

 We acknowledge Yehovah’s calendar

We are now in the - 5th month of God, no scriptural name – day 15

Judaism and some Messianics calls this month Ab /Av - made up, wrong, a lie

Today’s topic:

Be an example of a believer in Messiah everywhere you go

Lexicon definition of the word “ensample”

There are many words in the Greek, here is one:

ὑπόδειγμαhupodeigma - hoop-od'-igue-mah

an exhibit for imitation or warning (figuratively specimen, adumbration(to produce a faint image or resemblance of; to outline or sketch)): - en- (ex-) ample, pattern.

Some dictionary definitions of the word “example”

One of a number of things, or a part of something, taken to show the character of the whole: This painting is an example of his early work.

A pattern or model, as of something to be imitated or avoided: to set a good example.

An instance serving for illustration; specimen: The case histories gave carefully detailed examples of this disease.

An instance illustrating a rule or method, as a mathematical problem proposed for solution.

An instance, especially of punishment, serving as a warning to others: Public executions were meant to be examples to the populace.

A precedent; parallel case: an action without example.

Let’s read some scripture:

John.13

[13] Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
[14] If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
[15] For
I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
[16] Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
[17] If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

1Cor.10

[1] Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
[
2] And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
[
3] And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
[
4] And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Messiah.

[5] But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

[6] Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

[7] Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

[8] Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

[9] Neither let us tempt Messiah, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

[10] Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

[11] Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

[12] Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

[13] There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

[14] Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.[15] I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.

Phil.3

[15] Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

[16] Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

[17] Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

[18] (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Messiah:
[
19] Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

[20] For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Yeshua the Messiah:
[
21] Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

1Tim.4

[1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
[2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
[3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

[4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
[5] For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

[6] If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Yeshua the Messiah, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

[7] But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

[8] For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

[9] This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

[10] For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe.

[11] These things command and teach.

[12] Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

[13] Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

[14] Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

[15] Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

[16] Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

1Thes.1

[1] Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Yeshua the Messiah: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
[2] We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
[3] Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, in the sight of God and our Father;
[4] Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.

[5] For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
[6] And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

[7] So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
[8] For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak anything.

[9] For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
[10] And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Yeshua, which
delivered us from the wrath to come.

Jas.5

[10] Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

 [11] Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

1Pet.2

[19] For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
[20] For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

[21] For even hereunto were ye called: because Messiah also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
[22] Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
[23] Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
[24] Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

[25] For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

An Example of unbelief

Heb.4

[1] Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

[2] For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

[3] For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

[4] For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

[5] And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

[6] Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
[7] Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

[8] For if Joshua had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

[9] There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

[10] For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

[11] Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

[12] For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

[13] Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

[14] Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Yeshua the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.

[15] For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

[16] Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Jude

[1] Jude, the servant of Yeshua the Messiah, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Yeshua the Messiah, and called:
[2] Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
[3] Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
[4] For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
[5] I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
[6] And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
[7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh,
are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

[8] Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

[9] Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
[10] But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

[11] Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

[12] These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
[13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

[14] And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
[15] To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

[16] These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.

[17] But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah;
[18] How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

[19] These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
[20] But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
[21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah unto eternal life.

[22] And of some have compassion, making a difference:
[23] And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

[24] Now unto him, Messiah that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
[25] To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

1Pet.5

[1] The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Messiah, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
[2] Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
[3] Neither as being lords over God's heritage,
but being ensamples to the flock.
[4] And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

2Thes.3

[1] Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
[2] And
that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.

[3] But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
[4] And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.

[5] And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Messiah.

[6] Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.

[7] For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
[8] Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
[9] Not because we have not power,
but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

[10] For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

[11] For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

[12] Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
[13] But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

[14] And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

[15] Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

[16] Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.

[17] The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.

[18] The grace of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah be with you all. Amen.

Let us follow Messiah God as our example

God has a purpose for each choice He makes

I see everything is selected, chosen:

chosen chariots, chosen captains, chosen men, chosen people, His chosen, chosen Apostles, chosen Zion, chosen Jacob, chosen us and everything else…

Examples in your lives lead to choices you make each day.

Choose the right examples – Godly people.

Our lives are full of choices from the minute we get up until we go to sleep.

There is no need to list all the choices,  just think of them over yourselves.

All choices and decisions we make have consequences, some good and some bad.

The choices we made in the past led us to where we are today whether you like it or not or know it or don’t know.

We all can say at this time: If only we had the wisdom of an older person when we were younger, to decide, choose.

Parents are supposed to help with our decisions, choices.

Sad to say, most families are without the God of Israel and His Words, the scriptures.

The family unit is just about gone. No longer two parents.

In these days, one parent, mostly the mother is left who works, the children are at daycare.

Most fathers or mothers are gone.

In these days two females or two males raise the kids.  (Very un-Godly)

Most children are left to daycare centers all day, no discipline; kids are left to decide, make choices on their own.

Children are threatening the teachers in schools.

In schools, workplaces:

Drugs, alcohol, peer pressure,  bullies, vulgar language, sexual activities, joining riots, writing terrible things on social media and the rest, selfies or pictures of others… (Don’t look up on the net)

These activities are always there to help children make the wrong choices.

Some websites, television shows don’t help people in the choices of how to dress, talk and carry themselves or behave.

I wonder what guidance counselors are doing in schools?

Sometimes you may be talked into a choice, pressured or left with no other option.  Ask counsel.

You make the choice; there are still ramifications, consequences which you  will have to deal with.

The scriptures are full of choices people have made, from the time of Adam and Eve, Noah, Samuel, Kings, Judges, the Prophets and all the writings.

We see some of the consequences that we are left with today.

The Scriptures have many examples (of situations, people) of what to do and not to do.

Remember: Godly counsel, Godly examples may help you in your decisions, choices you need to make.

Shabbat Shalom
