Shabbat Shalom

שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today, we sadly use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s.

Today is September 16, 2023

September - the seventh month (today in 2023 it is the 9th month)

Middle English septembre
Latin September
Latin septem "seven" + -ber (adj. suffix)
Latin september mensis "seventh month"

September had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long.

We are now in the 6th month of God called Elul אֱלוּל , day 30

Neh.6 [15] So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days

Neh.7 [73] So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

Today’s Topic:

Different kinds of children

There are many passages in the scriptures that depict two different kinds of people, two camps.

Your choice

Here are a few terms in scripture:

children of the wicked one

children of the flesh

children of them which killed the prophets

children of the devil

People that don’t keep God’s Commandments

children of the bridechamber

children of the kingdom

children of the Highest

children of the resurrection

children of the prophets

children of the stock of Abraham

children of the living God

children of light

children of the day

children of Israel, later known as the children of the captivity

People that do keep God’s Commandments

Now we will go over some terms in context:

[1] And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
[2] And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
[3] And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
[4] And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
[5] And Yehovah came down to see the city and the tower, which
the children of men built.

[6] And Yehovah said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

[7] Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
[8] So Yehovah scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off building the city.
[9] Therefore is the name of it called Babelbecause Yehovah did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did Yehovah scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

בָּבֶל Babel {baw-bel'}

Meaning:  Babel or Babylon = "confusion (by mixing)"

The children of Belial

בְּלִיַּעַל  {bel-e-yah'-al}

Meaning:  1) worthlessness 1a) worthless, good for nothing, unprofitable, base fellow 1b) wicked 1c) ruin, destruction (construct)

Usage:  AV - Belial 16, wicked 5, ungodly 3, evil 1, naughty 1 ungodly men 1; 27

[1] Sing, O barren, you that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, said Yehovah.

Amos 3

[1] Hear this word that Yehovah had spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
[2You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.[3] Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

[27] Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
[28] Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
[29] There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
[30] And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
[31] And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
[32] Last of all the woman died also.
[33] Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
[34] And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
[35] But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
[36] Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being
the children of the resurrection.

[1] .. you had He quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
[2] Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:
[3] Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sinshad quickened us together with Messiah, (by grace you are saved;)
[6] And had raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua:
[7] That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Messiah Yeshua.

[1] Be you therefore followers of God, as dear children;
[2] And walk in love, as Messiah also had loved us, and had given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.

[3] But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes saints;
[4] Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient:

but rather giving of thanks.

[5For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, had any inheritance in the kingdom of Messiah and of God.

[6] Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

[7] Be not you therefore partakers with them.

[8] For you were sometimes darkness, but now are you light in the Lordwalk as children of light:

[9] (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
[10] Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

[11] And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
[12] For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

[13] But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
[14] Wherefore he said, awake you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Messiah shall give you light.
[15] See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
[16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
[17] Wherefore be you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
[18] And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
[19] Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
[20] Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Yeshua Messiah;
[21] Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

[5] Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: [6] for which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: [7] In the which you also walked some time, when you lived in them.
[8] But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. [9] Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his deeds;
[10] And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him…

[5] You are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. [6] Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
[7] For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
[8] But let us,
who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.
[9] For God had not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Yeshua the Messiah,
[10] Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

1 John 3

[4Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

[7] Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

[8] He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
[9] Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

[10] In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil:

Whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loves not his brother.

[11] For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

A debate over which children are of the devils

Pharisees vs Yeshua

John 8

[37] I know that you are Abraham's seed; but you seek to kill me, because my word had no place in you.
[38] I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which you
have seen with your father.
[39] They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Yeshua said unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
[40] But now ye seek to kill me, a man that had told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
You do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
[42] Yeshua said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
[43] Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

[44] You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

[45] And because I tell you the truth, you believe me not.

Judge Righteously

[1] God stands in the congregation of the mighty;    בַּעֲדַת־אֵ֑ל

He judges among the gods.

[2How long will you judge unjustlyand accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
[3] Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
[4] Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
[5] They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

[6] I have said, You are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
[7] But
you shall die like menand fall like one of the princes.
[8] Arise, O God, judge the earth: for you shall inherit all nations.

Gal. 4

[28] Now we brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.

[29] But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
[30] Nevertheless what said the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
[31] So then, brethren, we are
not children of the bondwoman, but children of the free.

Matt.5 [9] Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

[43] You have heard that it had been said, you shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.
[44] But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

[45] That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

[46] For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? Do not even the publicans the same?

[47] And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so?
[48] Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. un to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

[14] Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?

[15] And Yeshua said unto them, Can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

[36] …Yeshua sent the multitude away, and went into the house:

and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

[37] He answered and said unto them,

He that sows the good seed is the Son of man Yeshua;

[38] The field is the world;

the good seed are the children of the kingdom;

but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

[39] The enemy that sowed them is the devil;

the harvest is the end of the world;

and the reapers are the angels.

[40] As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
[41] The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
[43] Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who had ears to hear, let him hear.

[29] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchers of the righteous,
[30] And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

[31] Wherefore you be witnesses unto yourselves, that you are the children of them which killed the prophets.

[32] Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
[33] Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?

John 12

[25] He that loves his life shall lose it; and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

[26] If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.

[27] Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.

[28] Father, glorify you name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
[29] The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spoke to him.

[30] Yeshua answered and said, this voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
[31] Now is the judgment of this world:
now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
[32] And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
[33] This he said, signifying what death he should die.

[34] The people answered him, we have heard out of the law that Messiah abides for ever: and how say you, The Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?

[35] Then Yeshua said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while you have the light,

lest darkness come upon you: for he that walks in darkness knows not whither he goes.

[36] While you have light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light.

See you tomorrow J
