שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם
June 8, 2025 – today is Sunday and is a
Sabbath also
June -Juno's month
Latin Junius mensis
"month of Juno"
Junius had 30 days,
until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it
became 30 days long.
Juno is the principle goddess of
the Roman Pantheon. She is the goddess of marriage and the
well-being of women. She is the wife and sister of Jupiter. She is identified with the Greek goddess Hera.
God’s
calendar
We are
now in the third month of God called Sivan 11th day סִיוָן
Esth.8 [9] Then were the king's
scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month
Sivan
Lev.23 [15] And you shall count unto you from the
morrow after the sabbath, from the day that you
brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths shall
be complete: [16] Even unto the morrow
after the seventh Sabbath shall you number fifty days…
Feast of Weeks – Pentecost (50 days)
- the Feast of Harvest is here
Today’s topic
Happy Feast of Weeks
Pentecost (50 days) - the Feast of
Harvest
Looks like Paul observed Pentecost / Feast of Weeks
Acts 20 [16] For Paul had
determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia:
for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to
be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost / Feast of Weeks.
1 Cor.
16 [8] But I will tarry
at Ephesus until Pentecost / Feast of Weeks.
All
the Apostles
Acts 2 [1] … when the
day of Pentecost / Feast of Weeks was fully come, they were all with one
accord in one place.
“Offering
time”
None shall appear before me empty
Exod.23 [14] Three times
you shall keep a feast unto me in the year.
[15] You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread: (you shall eat
unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the
month abib – ha aviv; for in it
you came out from Egypt: and none shall appear before
me empty)
[16] And the feast of harvest (weeks,
Pentecost),
the first fruits of your labors, which you hast sown in the
field: and the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of the year, when you
hast gathered in your labors out of the field.
[17] Three times in the year all your males
shall appear before the Lord Yehovah.
Feast of Weeks / Harvest – 50 days, Pentecost
The giving of the Law and Spirit
We start with - The
giving of the law / Torah, the ten Commandments
Exod.20
1
[1]
And God spoke all these words, saying,
[2] I am Yehovah your God, which have
brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
[3] You shall have no other gods before me.
2
[4]
You shall not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness
of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the water under the earth:
[5] You shall not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Yehovah your God am a jealous
God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and
fourth generation of them that hate me;
[6] And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep
my commandments.
3
[7]
You shall not take the name of Yehovah your God in vain;
for Yehovah will not hold him
guiltless that takes his name in vain.
4
[8] Remember the Sabbath day,
to keep it holy.[9] Six days shall you labor, and do
all your work:
[10] But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yehovah your God: in it
you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your
manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that is
within your gates:
[11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and
earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:
wherefore Yehovah blessed
the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
5
[12] Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be long
upon the land which Yehovah your God giveth thee.
6
[13] You shall not kill.
7
[14] You shall not commit adultery.
8
[15] You shall not steal.
9
[16] You shall not bear false witness against
your neighbor.
10
[17] You shall not covet
your neighbor’s house, you shall not
covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant,
nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is your neighbor’s.
And there
are other commandments and feasts to follow…
The
giving of the Holy Spirit to the Jews:
Acts 2
[1]
And when the day of Pentecost (Feast of Weeks, harvest) was fully come, they
were all with one accord in one place.
[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they
were sitting.
[3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat
upon each of them.
[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with
other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
[5]
And there
were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under
heaven.
[6]
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were
confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
[7] And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold,
are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
[8] And how
hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
[9] Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in
Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
[10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the
parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
[11] Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in
our tongues the wonderful works of God.
[12]
And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, what
does this means?
[13] Others mocking said, these men
are full of new wine.
[14]
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto
them, You men of Judaea, and all you that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known
unto you, and hearken to my words:
[15] For these are not drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour
of the day.
[16]
But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel 2;
Here is
Joel 2
[28]
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all
flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall
dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
[29] And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I
pour out my spirit.
[30] And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood,
and fire, and pillars of smoke.
[31] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the
great and the terrible day of Yehovah come.
[32] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yehovah shall be delivered:
for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Yehovah hath said, and in the
remnant whom Yehovah shall call.
Back to
Acts 2
Peter
quotes Joel 2:
[17]
And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will
pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream
dreams:
[18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of
my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
[19] And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth
beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:
[20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before
that great and notable day of the Lord come:
[21] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the
Lord shall be saved.
[22]
You men of Israel, hear these words; Yeshua of Nazareth, a man
approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by
him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know:
[23] Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,
you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
[24] Whom God had raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was
not possible that he should be holden of it.
[25] For David (in
Psalm 16 below) speaks concerning
him, I
foresaw Yehovah always before my face,
for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
Pss.16
[8] I have
set Yehovah always before me:
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
[9]
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: my flesh also shall
rest in hope.
[10] For you will not leave my soul in hell; neither will you
suffer Your Holy One to see corruption.
[11]
You will show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at your
right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Back to
Acts 2, quoted from Psalm 16
[26]
Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh
shall rest in hope:
[27] Because you will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you
suffer your Holy One to see corruption. The Resurrection
[28]
You have made known to me the ways of life; you shall make me full of
joy with your countenance.
[29]
Men and brethren let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David that he is both
dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.
[30] Therefore being a prophet (David), and knowing that God had
sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his (David’s) loins, according
to the flesh, He, (the Father) would raise up Messiah to sit on his throne;
The
oath:
Pss.132 [11] Yehovah had sworn in truth unto
David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy
body will I set upon thy throne.
[31] He seeing this before spoke (in Psalm 16) of the
resurrection of Messiah, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh
did see corruption.
[32]
This Yeshua had God raised up, whereof we all are
witnesses.
[33] Therefore being by the
right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the
Holy Spirit, he hath shed forth this, which you now see and hear.
[34]
For David is not ascended into the heavens: (here in Psalm 110) but
he says himself, Yehovah said unto my Lord
(Messiah), Sit
you on my right hand,[35] Until I make your foes
your footstool.
Pss.110:1: Yehovah said unto my Lord,
Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy
footstool.
[36]
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that
same Yeshua, whom you have crucified,
both Lord
and Messiah.
[37]
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter
and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name
of Yeshua the Messiah for the
remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
[39]
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar
off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
[40]
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, save yourselves from this untoward
generation.
[41] Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day
there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
[42]
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and
fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
[43] And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the
apostles.
[44] And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
[45] And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every
man had need.
[46] And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking
bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of
heart,
[47] Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord
added to the church daily such as should be saved.
The
giving of the Spirit to the Gentiles:
Acts 10
[34] …Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no
respecter of persons:
[35]
But in every nation he that fears Him, and works righteousness,
is accepted with him.
[36] The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace
by Yeshua the Messiah: (He is Lord of all)
[37] That word, I say, you know, which was
published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism
which John preached;
[38] How God anointed Yeshua of Nazareth with the
Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that
were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
[39]
And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews,
and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
[40]
Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly;
[41] Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to
us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
[42]
And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he
which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
[43] To
Him, Yeshua give all
the prophets’ witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in
Him shall receive remission of sins.
[44]
While Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them
which heard the word.
[45]
And they of the circumcision (Jews) which believed were astonished, as many as
came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift
of the Holy Spirit.
[46]
For they
heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
Then
answered Peter, can any man forbid water, that these should not be
baptized, which
have received the Holy Spirit as well as we (Jews)?
[48]
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Yeshua.
The Baptism
of the Holy Spirit at Ephesus
Acts 19
[1]
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul
having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain
disciples,
[2] He said unto them, Have you received the Holy Spirit since you
believed? And they said unto him, we have not so much as heard
whether there is any Holy Spirit.
[3]
And he said unto them, unto what then were you baptized? And
they said, Unto John's baptism.
[4]
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying
unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him,
that is, on Messiah Yeshua.
[5]
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Yeshua.
[6]
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke with
tongues, and prophesied.
[7] And
all the men were about twelve.
In closing for today:
At sundown, this evening, the Spring Feasts
and Holy days are over for 2025
