Shabbat Shalom
Nov. 8, 2008
We are now in the 8th month, Bool, 9th day -
"rain time"
Judaism calls this month Cheshvan
or Marheshvan. This is not in the Hebrew Scriptures.
---------
1 Kgs. 6 Solomon [38]
And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul (Bool), which is the eighth
month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and
according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

A short history first:
On June 14, 1775, the Continental
Congress, convening in Philadelphia,
established a Continental Army
under the command of George Washington.
Proclaiming that "all men are created equal"
and endowed with "certain unalienable Rights,"
the Congress adopted the Declaration of
Independence, drafted largely by Thomas Jefferson, on
July 4, 1776. That date is now celebrated annually as America's Independence Day.
On April 30, 1789, George Washington, standing on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall
Street in New York, took his oath of office as the
first President of the United States.
---------------
November 6, 2008 - President-elect - Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. will be the 44th President of the
United States.
The Obama family is of Luo, (The Luo
(also called Jaluo and Joluo)
are an ethnic group in Kenya, eastern Uganda, and northern Tanzania), also African American, European, and Indonesian heritage.
On January 20, 2009, Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. will be sworn in as President of the United States,
thus making Barack Hussein Obama, Michelle Obama,
and daughters Malia Ann and Natasha (known as Sasha)
the First Family of the
United States. They will be the First Family in the U.S. of African American descent.
--------
A little math: America's Independence
- 1776 - today 2008 = we are only 232 years old as
of this study.
---------
Does it matter who is president?
In many ways, it does matter now. (in the way the world is setup today)
However, our made-up election is not God's way to
elect.
We will review God's way to elect below.
Isa. 55 [8] For my
thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. [9] For as the heavens are higher than the
earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your
thoughts.
----------
Topic: Who
is my mother, or my brethren?
"thou mayest
not set a stranger over thee,
which is not thy brother"
--------------------
Prov. 29 [12] If a ruler hearken to lies, all his
servants are wicked.
--------------------
This started 1000's of years before
there was a United States
------------
We, the United States are a product of the
nations
"like as all
the nations" that are about us
------
Deut. 7
[1] When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into
the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath
cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites,
and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites,
and the Hivites, and the Jebusites,
seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
[2] And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them
before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly
destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
[3] Neither shalt
thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt
not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou
take unto thy son.
[4] For they will turn away thy son from
following me, that they may serve other gods: so will
the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
------------
Let's review God's election
[14] When thou art
come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth
thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt
dwell therein, and shalt say,
I will set a king over
me, "like as all the nations" that are about me;
-----
[15] Thou shalt in any
wise set him king over thee, whom
"the LORD thy God shall
choose":
"one from among thy brethren"
shalt thou set king over thee:
"thou mayest
not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother".
But he shall not multiply
horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he
should multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.
Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart
turn not away:
Neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold.
And it shall be, when he sitteth
upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write
him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests
the Levites:
And it, (the book) shall
be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life:
that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this
law and these statutes, to do them:
That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn
not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end
that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst
of Israel.
--------------
Here is where they went.
"make us a king to judge us
like all the nations"
Sounds like us today.
We will pick, forget God choosing.
1 Sam. 8
[1] And it came to pass, when Samuel was
old, that he made his sons judges over Israel.
[2] Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beer-sheba.
[3] And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre,
and took bribes, and perverted judgment.
[4] Then all the elders of Israel gathered
themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,
[5] And said unto him, Behold, thou art
old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us
a king to judge us like all the nations.
[6] But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said,
Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
[7] And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of
the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but
they have rejected me, (the LORD)
that I should not reign over them.
---------
Strange women, strange gods
1 Kgs. 11
[1] But king Solomon
loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women
of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;
[2] Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto
you: (Deut 7:3) for surely they will
turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
[3] And he had seven hundred wives, princesses,
and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away
his heart.
[4] For it came to pass, when Solomon was old,
that his wives turned away his heart after other gods:
and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David
his father.
[5] For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess
of the Zidonians, and after Milcom
the abomination of the Ammonites.
[6] And Solomon did evil in the sight of the
LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.
[7] Then did Solomon build an
high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in
the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech,
the abomination of the children of Ammon.
[8] And likewise did he
for all his strange wives, which burnt incense
and sacrificed unto their gods.
[9] And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because
his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him
twice,
[10] And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept
not that which the LORD commanded.
Approximately 400 years later, Solomon's high places for all the strange gods were still standing until King Josiah
[13] And the high places that were before
Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which
Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth
the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king (Josiah)
defile.
---------------------------
Ezra 9:12 and Neh. 13:25 are quoting from Deut.
7
[10] And now, O our God, what shall we say after
this? for we have forsaken thy commandments, which
thou hast commanded by thy servants the prophets, saying,
The land, unto which ye go to possess
it, is an unclean land with the filthiness of the people of the lands, with
their abominations, which have filled it from one end to another with their
uncleanness.
[12] Now therefore give not your
daughters unto their sons, neither take their daughters unto your sons, nor
seek their peace or their wealth for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the
good of the land, and leave it for an inheritance to your children for ever.
[13] And after all that is come upon us for our
evil deeds, and for our great trespass, seeing that thou our God hast punished
us less than our iniquities deserve, and hast given us such deliverance as
this;
Should we again break thy commandments,
and join in affinity with the people of these abominations?
wouldest not thou be angry
with us till thou hadst consumed us, so that there
should be no remnant nor escaping?
[15] O LORD God of Israel, thou art righteous: for we remain yet escaped, as it is this day: behold,
we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee because
of this.
[23] In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives
of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
[24] And their children spake
half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not
speak in the Jews' language, but according to the
language of each people.
[25] And I
contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked
off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying,
Ye shall
not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your
sons, or for yourselves.
[26] Did not
Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet
among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and
God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even
him did outlandish women cause to sin.
[27] Shall we then hearken unto you to do
all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?
[11] Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed
in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the
holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange
god.
------------------
The first commandment broken from the
beginning
Gen. 26 [5] Because that
Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my
commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
Exod. 20 [3] Thou shalt have no other gods before
me.
----------
Strange gods from the beginning to the
end of time
[2] Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were
with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean,
and change your garments:
[4] And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which
were in their hand, and all their earrings which were
in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
[12] So the LORD alone did lead him, and there was no
strange god with him.
[16] They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods,
with abominations provoked they him to anger.
[20] If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods,
then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you
good.
[23] Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods
which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.
[16] And they put away the strange gods from among them,
and served the LORD: and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
[3] And Samuel spake unto all the
house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD
with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the
LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the
Philistines.
[3] For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and
the high places, and brake down the images, and cut
down the groves:
[15] And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of
the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the
LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
[9] There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
[12] I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you:
therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I
am God.
[19] And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like
as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall
ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
Last Days
[39] Thus shall he do in
the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase
with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the
land for gain.

Who is my mother? And who are my brethren?
[47] Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother
and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
[48] But he answered and said unto him that told
him, Who is my mother? and who are my
brethren?
[49] And he stretched forth his hand toward his
disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
[50] For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same
is my brother, and sister, and mother.
[31] There came then his brethren and his mother,
and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
[32] And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy
mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
[33] And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?
[34] And he looked round about on them which sat about
him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

Is it too late now, 2008, to undo?

God wanted us to be "above
all the nations"
Deut. 14 [2] for thou art an holy people unto the
LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto
himself, above all the nations that are upon the
earth.
Deut. 26 [19] And to
make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in
name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as
he hath spoken.
Exod. 19 [5] Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my
covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for
all the earth is mine:
Deut. 7 [6] For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD
thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all
people that are upon the face of the earth.
[14] Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not
be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
Deut. 10 [15] Only
the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed
after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.
Deut. 14 [2] for thou
art an holy people unto the LORD thy God, and the LORD hath chosen thee to be a
peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.
Deut. 26 [19] And to
make thee high above all nations which he hath made, in praise, and in
name, and in honour; and that thou mayest be an holy people unto the LORD thy God, as he hath
spoken.
-----------------
[4] Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land
any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah, and
thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and
thy land shall be married.
[14] Turn, O
backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a
city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion:
-----------
"They shall not dwell in thy land, make no covenant with them, nor with
their gods"
Exod. 23:32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.
[33] They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee
sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto
thee.
Josh. 23 [12] Else if ye do in any wise go back,
and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you,
and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
[13] Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before
you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your
sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which
the LORD your God hath given you.
Exod. 23, Josh.23 are long gone...sad
Josh.
13 [13] Nevertheless the
children of Israel expelled not the Geshurites, nor
the Maachathites: but the Geshurites
and the Maachathites dwell
among the Israelites until this day
Josh. 15 [63] As for the
Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children
of Judah could not drive them out: but the Jebusites
dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.
Josh. 17 [12] Yet the
children of Manasseh could not drive out the
inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that
land.
Here is a whole chapter of the same thing
Judg. 1
[1] Now after the death of Joshua it came
to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who
shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?
[2] And the LORD said, Judah shall go up:
behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
[19] And the LORD was with Judah;
and he (Judah) drave out the inhabitants of the
mountain; but could not drive out the
inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.
[20] And they gave Hebron unto Caleb, as Moses
said: and he expelled thence the three sons of Anak.
[21] And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the
Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem
unto this day.
[27] Neither did
Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shean
and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the
inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants
of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of
Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.
[28] And it came to pass, when Israel was strong,
that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not
utterly drive them out.
[29] Neither did Ephraim
drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt
in Gezer among them.
[30] Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol;
but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
[31] Neither did Asher
drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the
inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab,
nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah,
nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:
[32] But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites,
the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive
them out.
[33] Neither did
Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh,
nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath; but he dwelt among
the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of
Beth-shemesh and of Beth-anath
became tributaries unto them.
[34] And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they
would not suffer them to come down to the valley:
[35] But the Amorites would dwell in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim: yet the
hand of the house of Joseph prevailed, so that they became tributaries.
[36] And the coast of the Amorites was from the going up to Akrabbim,
from the rock, and upward.
Judg. 3
[1] Now these are the nations which the
LORD left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all
the wars of Canaan;
[2] Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach
them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;
[3] Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and
the Sidonians, and the Hivites
that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-hermon
unto the entering in of Hamath.
[4] And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would
hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by
the hand of Moses.
[5] And the children of Israel dwelt among the
Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites,
and Hivites, and Jebusites:
[6] And they took their daughters to be
their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
[7] And the children of Israel did evil
in the sight of the LORD, and forgat the LORD their
God, and served Baalim and the groves.
[8] Therefore the anger of the LORD was hot
against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim
king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim
eight years.

Isa. 58 [12]
Be a
builder of the old waste places: raise up the foundations of many generations; A repairer of the breach, A restorer of paths to dwell in.
Jer.6 [16] Thus saith
the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is
the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
But they
said, we will not walk therein. (Don’t be one of these)
