שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today, we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s,

Today is August 14, 2021

August -- Augustus Caesar's month

Latin Augustus "Augustus"
Latin Augustus
mensis "month of Augustus"
Latin
sextilis mensis "sixth month"

Sextilis had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

Augustus Caesar clarified and completed the calendar reform of Julius Caesar. In the process, he also renamed this month after himself.  Ha, why not?

Yehovah God has His own calendar, which is deleted from the world

We are now in the 6th month of God called Elul, day 5

Neh.6 [15] So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul אֱלוּל in fifty and two days

Neh.7 [73] So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

We read from law and the prophets every Sabbath like they did in the Book of Acts.

Acts: 13 [15] … after the reading of the law and the prophets…

Yeshua said unto them,

Luke 24[44] …  These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

The Word of God - Torah, Prophets and Writings (psalms)

Ta Na Kk is an acronym for:

T = Torah (law, teachings) - first 5 books of Moses

N = Navieem or prophets (pl. sounds like - Na vi eem)

K = Ke'tuvim or writings (psalms etc.)

At this point, there were neither gospels nor letters.

The fall feasts of Yehovah for 2021 in the seventh month

The seventh month is called ha Ethanim below:

1Kgs.8 [2] … all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto King Solomon at the feast in the month ha Ethanim, which is the seventh month

For 2021, ha Ethanim, the seventh month of God

Again, all these days start the evening before:

A memorial of blowing of trumpets - Sept. 9, 2021 - Thursday, a Sabbath

The Day of Atonement - Sept. 18, 2021 - Saturday, a Sabbath

The feast of Tabernacles - Sept. 23 to 30, 2021 - Thursday to Thursday, 2 Sabbaths

Back up scriptures:

The 7th month, ha Ethanim, has 4 extra Sabbaths

Lev.23

[23] And Yehovah spoke unto Moses, saying,
[24] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying,
In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall you have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.
[25] Ye shall do no servile work therein: but you shall offer an offering made by fire unto
Yehovah.

[26] And Yehovah spoke unto Moses, saying,
[27] Also on
the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto Yehovah.
[28] And you shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make
an atonement for you before Yehovah your God.
[29] For whatsoever soul it
be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
[30] And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
[31] Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations
in all your dwellings.
[32] It shall be unto you
a Sabbath of rest, and you shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall you celebrate your Sabbath.

[33] And Yehovah spoke unto Moses, saying,
[34] Speak unto the children of Israel, saying,
The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto Yehovah.

[35On the first day shall be an holy convocation: you shall do no servile work therein.
[36Seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire unto
Yehovahon the eighth day shall be a holy convocation unto you;

and you shall offer an offering made by fire unto Yehovahit is a solemn assembly; and you shall do no servile work therein.

[37These are the feasts of Yehovah

Today’s topic:

Have “Hope” in God

We have a few Biblical Hebrew words to look into today.

The word “Hope” has a few different words in Hebrew, let’s review:

Messiah’s resurrection

Peter - Acts 2 [25] For David speaks concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
[26] Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
[27] Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer your Holy One to see corruption.
[28] Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; you shall make me full of joy with thy countenance.

Pss.16 [9] Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

[10] For You (Father) will not leave My (Messiah) soul in hell; neither will you suffer your Holy One (Messiah) to see corruption.

בֶּטַח

Beṭach - beh'-takh - properly a place of refuge; abstractly safety, both the fact (security) and the feeling (trust); often (adverbially with or without preposition) safely: - assurance, boldly, (without) care (-less), confidence, hope, safe (-ly, -ty), secure, surely

בָּטַח

bâṭach - baw-takh'

A primitive root; properly to hide for refuge figuratively to trust, be confident or sure: - be bold (confident, secure, sure), careless (one, woman), put confidence, (make to) hope, (put, make to) trust.

Pss.22 [9]… you are He that took me out of the womb: you did make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. [10] I was cast upon you from the womb: you are my God from my mother's belly.

Pss.31 [24] Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you that hope in Yehovah.

יָחַל

yâchal - yaw-chal' - A primitive root; to wait; by implication to be patient, hope: - (cause to, have, make to) hope, be pained, stay, tarry, trust, wait.

Pss.33 [18] Behold, the eye of Yehovah is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in His mercy;

[19] To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
[20] Our soul waits for Yehovah: He is our help and our shield.
[21] For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His Holy Name.

[22] Let your mercy, Yehovah, be upon us, according as we hope in You.

Pss.38 [15] For in you, Yehovah, do I hope: you will hear, O Lord my God.

Pss.39 [7] … now, Lord, what wait I for? My hope is in you.

 תּוֹחֶלֶת

tôcheleth - to-kheh'-leth - expectation: - hope.

Three verses the same:

Pss.42 [5] Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted in me? Hope in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of His countenance.

[11] Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

Same below:

Pss.43 [5] Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

[2] I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
[3] Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
[4] We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of Yehovah, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
[5] For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
[6] That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
[7] That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: [8] And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

Pss.119 [43]… take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments

Prov.10 [28] The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

Prov.13 [12] Hope deferred makes the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

בִּטָּחוֹן

biṭṭâchôn - bit-taw-khone' - trust: - confidence, hope.

Isa.38 [18] For the grave cannot praise you, death cannot celebrate you: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for your truth.

[19] The living, the living, he shall praise you, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known your truth. [20] Yehovah was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of Yehovah.

Jer.17 [7] Blessed is the man that trusts in Yehovah, and whose hope Yehovah is.

[13] Yehovah, the hope of Israel, all that forsakes you shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Yehovah, the fountain of living waters.

[17] Be not a terror unto me: you are my hope in the day of evil.

Lam.3 [18] And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from Yehovah: [19] Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
[20] My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

[21] This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.

[22] It is of Yehovah mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. [23] They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

[24] Yehovah is my portion, said my soul; therefore will I hope in him. [25] Yehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeks him.

[26] It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Yehovah.

[27] It is good for a man that he bears the yoke in his youth.
[28] He sits alone and keeps silence, because he hath borne it upon him.

[29] He puts his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope.

[30] He gives his cheek to him that smites him: he is filled full with reproach. Messiah

In Matt.26 [67] Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands, [68] Saying, Prophesy unto us, you Messiah, Who is he that smote thee?

[31] For the Lord will not cast off for ever:
[32] But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of His mercies.
[33] For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
[34] To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
[35] To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High,
[36] To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approves not.
[37] Who is he that said, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commands it not?
[38] Out of the mouth of the most High proceeds not evil and good?
[39] Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
[40] Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to
Yehovah.
[41] Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens.

Joel 3 [16] Yehovah also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but Yehovah will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel

מַחְסֶה    מַחֲסֶה

machăseh    machseh - makh-as-eh', makh-seh' - a shelter (literally or figuratively): - hope, (place of) refuge, shelter, trust.

Now, a few Letters:

Rom.5

[1] Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah:
[2] By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
[3] And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience;[4] And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

[5] And hope makes not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Rom. 8 [24] For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man sees, why doth he yet hope for?

[25] But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

[26] Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.
[27] And he that searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
[28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Rom.12 [10] Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another;
[11] Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
[12] Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
[13] Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
[14] Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
[15] Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
[16] Be of the same mind one toward another.

Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

[17] Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
[18] If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men.

Rom.15 [4] For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

1 Cor.9 [9] For it is written in the law of Moses, you shall not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treads out the corn.

Deut.25 [4] You shall not muzzle the ox when he threshes out the corn.

Doth God take care for oxen?

[10] Or said he it altogether for our sakes?

For our sakes, no doubt, this is written:

that he that plows should plow in hope; and that he that threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope.

1 Cor.13 [7] [13] And now abides faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Abraham

Rom.4 [18] Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

1Thes.5 [8]… let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. [9] For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Yeshua the Messiah,[10] Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

1Tim.1 [1] … the Lord Yeshua the Messiah which is our hope;

Tit.1[1] Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Yeshua the Messiah, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
[
2] In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began…

Tit.2 [11… the grace of God that brings salvation hath appeared to all men,
[12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;[13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Yeshua the Messiah; [14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Paul said:

Acts 26 [6] And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:[7] Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come.

For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

[8] Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

Acts 28 [20] …for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain.

In closing for now,

I hope you got something out of this topic. J

Remember:

We have hope of eternal life and we need to hold fast our confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

And as John put it, (I added daughters, woman, themselves, not changing the meaning)

1 John 3

[1] Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons (and daughters) of God: therefore the world knows us not, because it knew Him not.

[2] Beloved, now are we the sons (and daughters) of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He, Yeshua shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.
[3] And every man (and woman) that has this hope purifies themselves, even as he Yeshua is pure.
