We
are now in the fourth month of God - No
name –
day 11
Today’s topic:
Vain, vanity
Pss.2
[1] Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Pss.26
[4] I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with
dissemblers.
Pss.33
[17] An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall
he deliver any by his great strength.
Pss.39
[6] Surely every man walketh in a vain show:
surely they are disquieted in vain:
he heaped up riches, and knows not who shall gather them.
Pss.60
[11] Give us help from trouble:
for vain is the help of man.
Pss.62
[10] Trust not in oppression, and become
not vain in robbery:
if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
Pss.73
[13] Verily I have cleansed my heart
in vain, and washed my hands in
innocence.
Pss.89
[47] Remember how short my time is:
wherefore have you made all men
in vain?
Pss.108
[12] Give us help from trouble:
for vain is the help of man.
Pss.119
[113] I
hate vain thoughts:
but thy law do I love.
Pss.127
[1] Except Yehovah
build the house, they labor in vain that
build it:
except Yehovah keep the city, the
watchman wakes but in vain.
[2] It
is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the
bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Pss.139
[20] For they speak against you
wickedly, and thine enemies take thy name in vain.
Prov.1
[17] Surely in vain the
net is spread in the sight of any bird.
Prov.12
[11] He that tilleth
his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that follows vain persons is void of understanding.
Prov.28
[19] He that tilles
his land shall have plenty of bread:
but he that follows after vain persons
shall have poverty enough.
Prov.30
[9] Lest I be full, and deny you,
and say, who is Yehovah?
or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
Prov.31
[30] Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that fears Yehovah, she
shall be praised.
Pss.4
[2] O you sons of men, how long will
you turn my glory into shame? how long will you love vanity, and seek after leasing?
Selah.
Pss.10
[7] His mouth is full of cursing and
deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
Pss.12
[2] They
speak vanity every one with his neighbor:
with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
Pss.24
[4] He that hath clean hands, and a
pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity,
nor sworn deceitfully.
Pss.39
[5] Behold, you have made my days as
an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before you:
verily every man at his best state is
altogether vanity. Selah.
[11] When you with rebukes dost
correct man for iniquity, you makest his beauty to
consume away like a moth:
surely every man is vanity. Selah.
Pss.41
[6] And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity:
his heart gathers
iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad,
he tells it.
Pss.62
[9] Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are
a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.
Pss.78
[33] Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.
Pss.94
[11] Yehovah
knows the thoughts of man, that they
are vanity.
Pss.119
[37] Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken you me in thy
way.
Pss.144
[4] Man
is like to vanity:
his days are as a shadow that passes away.
[8] Whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a
right hand of falsehood.
[11] Rid
me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaks vanity, and their right hand is a
right hand of falsehood:
Prov.13
[11] Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he
that gathers by labor shall increase.
Prov.21
[6] The getting of treasures by a
lying tongue is a vanity tossed to
and fro of them that seek death.
Prov.22
[8] He that soweth
iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod
of his anger shall fail.
Prov.30
[8] Remove
far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor
riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
Vanity of vanities
Ecc.1
[2] Vanity of
vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities;
all is vanity.
[14] I have seen all the works that
are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of
spirit.
Ecc.2
[1] I said in mine heart, Go to now,
I will prove you with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold,
this also is vanity.
[11] Then I looked on all the works
that my hands had wrought, and on the labor that I had labored to do: and,
behold, all was vanity and
vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.
[15] Then said I in my heart, As it happens to the fool, so it happeneth
even to me; and why was I then more wise?
Then I said in my heart, that this
also is vanity.
[17] Therefore I hated life; because
the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous
unto me:
for all is vanity and vexation of
spirit.
[19] And who knoweth
whether he shall be a man or a fool? yet shall he have
rule over all my labor wherein I have labored, and wherein I have showed myself
wise under the sun.
This is
also vanity.
[21] For there is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet
to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he
leave it for his portion.
This also
is vanity and a great evil.
[23] For all his days are sorrows,
and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest
in the night.
This is also vanity.
[26] For God gives to a man that is
good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give
to him that is good before God.
This also
is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecc.3
[19] For that which befalls the sons
of men befalls beasts; even one thing befalls them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea,
they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
Ecc.4
[4] Again, I considered all travail,
and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbor.
This is
also vanity and vexation of spirit.
[7] Then I returned, and I
saw vanity under the sun.
[8] There is one alone, and there is
not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of
all his labor; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labor, and bereave my soul of good?
This is
also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail.
[16] There is no end of all the people,
even of all that have been before them: they also that come after shall not
rejoice in him.
Surely this also
is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecc.5
[10] He that loveth
silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth
abundance with increase:
this is also vanity.
Ecc.6
[2] A man to whom God hath given
riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desires, yet
God giveth him not power to eat thereof,
but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease.
[4] For he cometh in with vanity, and departed in
darkness, and his name shall be covered with darkness.
[9] Better is the sight of the eyes
than the wandering of the desire: this is also vanity and vexation of
spirit.
[11] Seeing there be many things
that increase vanity, what is man the
better?
Ecc.7
[6] For as the crackling of thorns
under a pot, so is the laughter of the fool:
this also is vanity.
[15] All things have I seen in the
days of my vanity:
there is a just man that perishes in his righteousness, and there
is a wicked man that prolongs his life in his wickedness.
Ecc.8
[10] And so I saw the wicked buried,
who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in
the city where they had so done:
this is also vanity.
[14] There is
a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto
whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked
men, to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous:
I said that this also
is vanity.
Ecc.9
[9] Live joyfully with the wife whom
you love all the days of the life of
thy vanity,
which he hath given you under the sun,
all the days of thy vanity:
for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labor which
you take under the sun.
Ecc.11
[8] But if a man live many years,
and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for they
shall be many.
All that cometh
is vanity.
[10] Therefore remove sorrow from
thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh:
for childhood and youth are vanity.
Ecc.12
[8] Vanity of
vanities, says the preacher;
all is vanity.

watch for vanity
