Today’s Topic:
Love God and your neighbor
A few love scriptures for today:
Lev.19 [34]
… the stranger that dwells with you shall be unto you as one born among you,
and you shall love him as
thyself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am Yehovah
your God.
[1] Now these are the commandments, the
statutes, and the judgments, which Yehovah your God
commanded to teach you, that you might do them in the land whither you go to
possess it:
[2] That you might fear Yehovah your God, to keep all his statutes and his
commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all
the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.
[3] Hear therefore, O Israel,
and observe to do it; that it may be well with you, and that you may increase
mightily, as Yehovah God of your fathers hath
promised you, in the land that flows with milk and honey.
[4] Hear, O Israel: Yehovah
our God is one Yehovah:
[5] And you shall love
Yehovah your God with all your heart, and with all
your soul, and with all your might.
[6] And these words, which I
command you this day, shall be in your heart:
[7] And you shall teach them
diligently unto your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your
house, and when you walk by the way, and
when you lie down, and when you rise up.
[8] And you shall bind them for
a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
[9] And you shall write them
upon the posts of your house, and on your gates.
Deut.7
[9] Know therefore that Yehovah your God, he is God, the faithful God, which keep
covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep
his commandments to a thousand generations;
[10] And repays them that hate
him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hates him,
he will repay him to his face.
[11] You shall therefore keep
the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command you this
day, to do them.
Deut.10
[12] And now, Israel, what doth Yehovah your God require of you, but to fear Yehovah your God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve Yehovah
your God with all your heart and with all your soul, [13]
To keep the commandments of Yehovah, and his
statutes, which I command you this day for your good?
[14] Behold, the heaven and the heaven
of heavens is Yehovah's your God, the earth also,
with all that therein is.
[15] Only Yehovah
had a delight in your fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them,
even you above all people, as it is this day.
[16] Circumcise therefore the
foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.
[17] For Yehovah
your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a
terrible, which regards not persons, nor takes reward:
[18] He doth execute the
judgment of the fatherless and widow, and love the stranger, in giving him food
and raiment.
[19] Love you therefore the
stranger: for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.
[20] You shall fear Yehovah your God; him shall you serve, and to him shall you
cleave, and swear by his name.
[21] He is your praise, and he
is your God, that hath done for you these great and terrible things, which your
eyes have seen.
Deut.11
[1] Therefore you shall love Yehovah your God, and keep his charge, and his statutes,
and his judgments, and his commandments, always.
[13] And it shall come to pass, if you
shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love
Yehovah your God, and to serve him with all your
heart and with all your soul,
[14] That I will give you the rain of
your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that you may
gather in your corn, and your wine, and your oil.
[15] And I will send grass in
your fields for your cattle that you may eat and be full.
[16] Take heed to yourselves,
that your heart be not deceived, and you turn aside, and serve other gods, and
worship them;
[17] And then Yehovah's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the
heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest
you perish quickly from off the good land which Yehovah
gives you.
[18] Therefore shall you lay up
these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon
your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
[19] And you shall teach them
your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk
by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
[20] And you shall write them
upon the door posts of your house, and upon your gates:
[21] That your days may be
multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which Yehovah swore unto your fathers to give them, as the days
of heaven upon the earth.
[22] For if you shall diligently
keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love Yehovah your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave
unto him;
[23] Then will Yehovah drive out all these nations from before you, and
you shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
Deut.13
[1] If there arise among you a prophet,
or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder,
[2] And the sign or the wonder
come to pass, whereof he spoke unto you, saying, Let us go after other gods, which
you have not known, and let us serve them;[3] You shall not hearken unto the
words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for Yehovah
your God prove you, to know whether you love Yehovah your God with all your heart and with all your
soul.
[4] You shall walk after Yehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments,
and obey his voice, and you shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
Deut.23
[5]…Yehovah
your God would not hearken unto Balaam; but Yehovah
your God turned the curse into a blessing unto you, because Yehovah your God loved you.
Deut.30
[6] And Yehovah
your God will circumcise your heart, and the heart of your seed, to love Yehovah
your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, that you may live.
[15] See, I have set before you this
day life and good, and death and evil;
[16] … I command you this day to love Yehovah
your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes
and his judgments, that you may live and multiply: and Yehovah
your God shall bless you in the land whither you go to possess it.
[20] That you may love Yehovah your God, and
that you may obey his voice, and that you may cleave unto him: for he is your
life, and the length of your days: that you may dwell in the land which Yehovah swore unto your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and
to Jacob, to give them.
Josh.22
[5]… take diligent heed to do the
commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of Yehovah
charged you, to love Yehovah your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep
his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart
and with all your soul.
Josh.23
[11] Take good heed therefore unto
yourselves, that you love Yehovah
your God.
Pss.70
[4] Let all those that seek you rejoice
and be glad in you: and let such as love your salvation say
continually, Let God be magnified.
Amos.5
[14] Seek good, and not evil, that you
may live: and so Yehovah, the God of hosts, shall be
with you, as you have spoken.
[15] Hate the evil, and love the good, and
establish judgment in the gate: it may be that Yehovah
God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
Mic.6
[8] He hath showed you, O man, what is
good; and what doth Yehovah require of you, but to do
justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God…
Zeph.3
[17] Yehovah your
God in the midst of you is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over you with
joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over you with
singing.
A few in
the Gospels and Letters
Yeshua said…
Matt.6
[24] No man can serve two masters: for
either he will hate the one, and love the
other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Matt.22
[37] Yeshua
said … you shall love Yehovah your God with all your heart, and with all your
soul, and with all your mind. [38]
This is the first and great commandment.
[39] And the second is like unto it, you
shall love your neighbor as thyself.
[40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Luke.11
[42] … woe unto you, Pharisees! For you
tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought you
to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
John.3
[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John.16
[27] … the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that
I came out from God
Rom.5
[8]…God commends his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us.
1Cor.2
[9] … as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Isa.64 [4]…since
the beginning of the world men have not
heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God,
beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waits for him.
1Cor.8
[3]… if any man love God, the same is known of him.
2Cor.9
[7] Every man according as he purposed
in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God love
a cheerful giver.
Eph.2
[1] … you hath he
quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
[2] Wherein in time past you
walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the
power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:
[3] Among whom also we all had
our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the
desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath,
even as others.
[4] But God, who is rich in
mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
[5] Even when we were dead in
sins, hath quickened us together with Messiah, (by grace you are saved;)
[6] And hath raised us up
together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Messiah Yeshua:
[7] That in the ages to come he
might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Messiah
Yeshua.
Eph.3
[13] Wherefore I desire that you faint
not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
[14] For this cause I bow my
knees unto the Father of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah,
[15] Of whom the whole family in
heaven and earth is named,
[16] That he would grant you,
according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his
Spirit in the inner man;
[17] That Messiah may dwell in
your hearts by faith; that you, being
rooted and grounded in love,
[18] May be able to comprehend
with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
[19] And to know the love of Messiah,
which passes knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fullness of God.
[20] Now unto him that is able
to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the
power that works in us,
[21] Unto him be glory in the
church by Messiah Yeshua throughout all ages, world
without end. Amen.
Eph.5
[1] Be you
therefore followers of God, as dear children;
[2] … walk in love, as Messiah
also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God
for a sweet smelling savor.
[3] But fornication, and all
uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becomes
saints;
[4] Neither filthiness, nor foolish
talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
[5] For this you know, that no
whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any
inheritance in the kingdom of Messiah and of God.
[6] Let no man deceive you with
vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the
children of disobedience.
[7] Be not you therefore
partakers with them.
[8] For you were sometimes
darkness, but now are you light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
[9] (For the fruit of the Spirit
is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
[10] Proving what is acceptable
unto the Lord.
[11] And have no fellowship with
the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
[12] For it is a shame even to
speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
Col.2
[1] For I would
that you knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and
for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
[2] That their hearts might be
comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to
the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Messiah;
[3] In whom are hid all the
treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
2Thes.2
[16] Now our Lord Yeshua
the Messiah himself, and God, even our Father, which
hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and
good hope through grace, [17] Comfort your hearts, and establish
you in every good word and work.
2Tim.1
[7]… God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2Tim.3
[1] This know
also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
[2] For men shall be lovers of
their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to
parents, unthankful, unholy,
[3] Without natural affection,
trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are
good,
[4] Traitors, heady, high
minded, lovers of
pleasures more than lovers of God;
[5] Having a form of godliness,
but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Tit.3
[1] Put them in mind to be subject to principalities
and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,
[2] To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.
[3] For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient,
deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living
in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
[4]… after that the kindness and love of God our Savior
toward man appeared, [5] Not by works of righteousness which we have
done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration,
and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
[6] Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
[7] That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs
according to the hope of eternal life.
Heb.1
[9] You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even your
God, hath anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.
Heb.6
[10] For God is not unrighteous to
forget your work and labor
of love, which you have showed toward his name, in that you
have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
Jas.2
[5] Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath
not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom
which he hath promised to them
that love him?
1Pet.2
[17] Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.
1John.2
[1] My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an
advocate with the Father, Yeshua the Messiah the
righteous:
[2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours
only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
[3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his
commandments.
[4] He that says, I know him, and keeps not his
commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
[5] But whoso keeps his word, in
him verily is the love of God perfected:
hereby know we that we are in him.
[6] He that says he abides in him ought himself also so to
walk, even as he walked.
[7] Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you,
but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is
the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
[8] Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is
true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now
shins.
[9] He that says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is
in darkness even until now.
[10] He that
loves his brother abides in the light,
and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
[11] But he that hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in
darkness, and knows not whither he goes, because that darkness hath blinded his
eyes.
1John.3
[1] Behold, what manner of love the
Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knows us not,
because it knew him not.
[10] In this the children of God are
manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is
not of God, neither he that loves
not his brother.
[16] Hereby perceive we the love of
God, because he laid down his
life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.
[17] … whoso hath this world's good,
and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his bowels of compassion from him,
how dwells the love of
God in him?
1John.4
[7] Beloved, let us love one another: for love is
of God; and every one that loves is born
of God, and knows God.
[8] He that loves not knows not God; for God
is love.
[9] In this was manifested the love of
God toward us, because
that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through
him.
[10] Herein
is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for
our sins.[11] Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.[12] No man hath seen God at any time.
If we love one
another, God dwells in us, and his love is
perfected in us.
[16] …we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.
God is love; and he that
dwells in love dwells
in God, and God in him.
[20] If a man say, I love God, and hates his
brother, he is a liar: for he that loves
not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?[21] …this commandment have we from him, That he who loves God love his brother / sister also.
1John.5
[1] Whosoever believeth that Yeshua is the Messiah is born of God: and every one that loves him, The
Father that begat loves him
(Yeshua) also that is begotten of him, the Father.
[2] By this we know that we love the
children of God, when we love God, and keep his
commandments.
In closing for today:
2Thes.3
[5] May Yehovah
direct your hearts into
the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Messiah.
2Cor.13
[11]
Finally,
brothers and sisters, farewell.
Be
perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be
with you.
[14] The grace of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all.
Amen.
