Today’s
Topic:
Let’s talk
a litter about:
Melchizedek - Melchisedec
מַלְכִּי-צֶדֶק
Melchizedek - Melchisedec was a priest,
My king is righteous
מַלְכִּי־צֶדֶק {mal-kee-tseh'-dek}
Meaning: Melchizedek = "my king
is Sedek, righteous " 1) king of
Salem and priest of the Most High God to whom Abram paid tithe after the battle
he fought to free Lot;
'the order of Melchizedek'
the order of the priesthood to which Messiah belongs
Shadow
of Messiah's offices
as Son,
the Word
a King
a Priest
Just a
few verses:
The "priestly" line
of succession in Israel, according to God's Torah, was different from the "kingly" line.
The
kings were to descend from the tribe of Judah, whereas the priests
were to be of the tribe of Levi.
The
High Priest was selected from the household of Aaron.
Messiah
was to be both a King and a High Priest.
It
would appear impossible for the Messiah to lay claim to both offices, since He
would have to be from both the tribes of Judah and Levi.
However
that obstacle is overcome because Messiah's priesthood is not of the worldly
order, the Levitical priesthood, but of the order of the
spiritual order, Melchizedek’s priesthood.
Sometimes we need to see the spiritual side of things in
scripture.
Rom.8
[6] For to be carnally minded
is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
1Cor.2
[13] Which things also we speak, not in the
words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
[14] But the natural man receives not the things
of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know
them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Let’s
consider:
Bread and
wine:
symbolic of the body and blood of Messiah - spiritual
Gen.14:
[18]
And Melchizedek king of Salem, brought
forth bread
and wine:
and he was the priest of the most high God.
[19]
And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most
high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
[20]
And blessed be the most high God, which had
delivered your enemies into your hand. And he gave him tithes,
(10th) of all.

1Tim.6
[15] Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and
only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
Rev.17
[14] These shall make war with the Lamb,
and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords,
and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and
chosen, and faithful.
Rev.19
[16] And he, Messiah had on his vesture and
on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Psalm
110: God the Father’s oath
[1] Yehovah said unto my Lord, (Messiah) Sit
you at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.
[2] Yehovah shall send the rod of
your strength out of Zion: rule you in the midst of your enemies.
[3]
Thy people shall be willing in the day of your power, in the beauties of
holiness from the womb of the morning: you have the dew of your youth.
[4] Yehovah had sworn, and will
not repent, You (Messiah) are a
priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek
[5]
The Lord (Messiah) at your (the Father's) right hand shall strike through
kings in the day of his wrath.
[6]
He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead
bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.
[7]
He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.
Pss.2
[1] Why
do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
[2] The
kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together,
against Yehovah, and against his anointed, (Messiah) saying,
[3]
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
[4] He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord
shall have them in derision.
[5] Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore
displeasure.
[6]
Yet have I set my king (Messiah) upon my holy
hill of Zion.
[7] I will declare the decree: Yehovah had said unto me, (Messiah) You are my Son; this day
have I begotten You
[8]
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for your inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.
[9] You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shalt dash them in pieces
like a potter's vessel.
[10] Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges
of the earth.
[11] Serve Yehovah with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
[12] Kiss the Son, lest he (Messiah) be angry, and you perish
from the way, when his (Messiah) wrath is kindled
but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.
(Messiah)
Peter quotes
Psalm 2
Acts.4:
[24]
And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord,
and said, Lord, you are God, which had made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and
all that in them is:
[25] Who by the mouth
of your servant David Pss.2 had said, Why did the heathen rage,
and the people imagine vain things?
[26]
The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against Yehovah, and against his Messiah.
[27]
For of a truth against your holy child Yeshua, whom you had
anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of
Israel, was gathered together,[28] For to do whatsoever your hand and
your counsel determined before to be done.
Acts.13
[27]
For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not,
nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every Sabbath day, they have
fulfilled them in condemning him.
[28] And though they found no cause of death in him, yet
desired they Pilate that he should be slain.
[29] And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took
him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulcher.
[30] But God raised him from the dead:
[31] And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from
Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.
[32] And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which
was made unto the fathers,
[33] God hath fulfilled the
same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Yeshua again; as it is also
written in the second psalm above, Thou are my Son, this day have I
begotten thee. Psalm 2:7
Heb.5
[1]
For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things
pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
[2] Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of
the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
[3] And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for
himself, to offer for sins.
[4] And no man takes this honor unto himself, but he that is called of
God, as was Aaron.
[5] So also Messiah
glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said
unto him, You are my Son, today have I begotten thee.
[6] As he said also
in another place, You are a priest for ever after the order
of Melchisedec.
[7]
Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers
and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him, the Father that was
able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
[8] Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the
things which he suffered;
[9] And being made perfect, he became
the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
[10] Called
of God a high priest after the order
of Melchisedec. Psalm 110:4
Heb.6:
[20] Whither the
forerunner is for us entered, even Yeshua, made an high priest
for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Psalm 110:4
Heb.7
[1]
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the
most high God,
who
met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
[2] To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by
interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of
Salem, which is, King of peace;
[3] Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning
of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abides a
priest continually.
[4]
Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch
Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
[5] And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office
of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to
the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of
Abraham:
[6] But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of
Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
[7] And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
[8] And here men that die receive tithes; but there
he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.
[9] And as I may so say, Levi also,
who receives tithes, pays tithes in Abraham.
[10] For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.
[11] If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for
under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another
priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after
the order of Aaron?
[12] For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a
change also of the law.
[13] For he of whom these things are spoken pertains to
another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
[14] For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah; of which
tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.
[15] And it is yet far more evident:
for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there arises another
priest,
[16]
Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of
an endless life.
[17]
For he testifies, You are a priest for ever after the order
of Melchisedec. Psalm 110:4
[18] For there
is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness
and unprofitableness thereof.
[19] For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better
hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
[20] And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
[21]
(For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an
oath by him that said unto him, Yehovah sware and will not repent,
Thou are a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:) Psalm 110:4
[22] By so
much was Yeshua made a surety of a better testament.
[23] And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to
continue by reason of death:
[24] But this man, because he continues ever, hath an
unchangeable priesthood.
[25] Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that
comes unto God by him, seeing he ever lives to make intercession
for them.
[26] For such an high priest became (He for) us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled,
separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
[27] Who needs not daily, as those high priests, to offer up
sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did
once, when he offered up himself.
[28] For the law makes men high priests which have infirmity; but
the word of the oath, which was since the law, makes the Son, who is
consecrated for evermore.
