Shabbat Shalom
----------------
Today
we use the Gregorian calendar
(From
Pope Gregory, from the 1500's) – Dec. 5th, 2009
----------
God’s calendar
We are now in the 9th month of God
called Kislev in Hebrew, 17th day
Zech. 7 [1] And it came to pass in the
fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in
the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu,
---------------------------------
Remember, this pagan season; beware of the "false image of Love
and false feelings and emotions that run wild".
These pagan feasts bring on loneliness, depression, suicide and oh
yes, debt.
---------------
Today’s topic: Other gods
When did it all start?
---------------
First I
want to establish this point:
We don’t grow into repentance
or say the keeping of the 10 commandments is hidden from us, as
pseudo-Christians state, but we obey the scriptures that states: “Today” if ye
will hear his voice Harden not your hearts
First
Torah states: The commandment is not
hidden from thee, neither is it far off
Deut. 30
[11] For this
commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither
is it far off.
[12] It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest
say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear
it, and do it?
[13] Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest
say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it
unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
[14] But the word is very nigh unto thee,
in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do
it.
----
Paul
quotes TaNaK:
2 Cor. 6
[1] We then,
as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of
God in vain.
[2] (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time
accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured
thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now
is the day of salvation.)
---
Rom. 10 [6] But the
righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this
wise, Say not in thine heart, Who
shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Messiah
down from above:)
[7] Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that
is, to bring up Messiah again from the dead.)
[8] But what
saith it? The word is nigh
thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith,
which we preach;
[9] That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Yeshua, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
[10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation.
[11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
[12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the
same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
[14] How
then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and
how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and
how shall they hear without a preacher?
[15] And how shall they preach, except they be
sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of
them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
------------------
To day if ye will hear his voice
[7] For he
is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
To day if ye will hear his voice,
[8] Harden not your heart, as in the
provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
[9] When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
[10] Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It
is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
[11] Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they
should not enter into my rest.
[7]
Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear
his voice,
[8] Harden not your hearts, as in the
provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
[9] When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty
years.
[10] Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart;
and they have not known my ways.
[11] So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
[15] While it is said, To day if ye will hear
his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
[7] Again,
he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts
---------------
Now when did other gods start?
Your fathers, even Terah, the father of
Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and
they served other gods on the other side of the flood
[2] And
Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD
God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old
time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
[3] And I
took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him
throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
[14] Now
therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away
the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and
in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
[15] And if
it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you
this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that
were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in
whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
----------
Laban's pagan images
[19] And Laban went to shear his sheep: and Rachel had stolen the
images that were her father's.
[34] Now
Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the camel's furniture, and
sat upon them. And Laban searched all
the tent, but found them not.
[35] And she
said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before
thee; for the custom of women is upon me. And he searched, but found not the
images.
----------
The first Commandment
Exod. 20
[1] And God spake
all these words, saying,
[2] I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of
Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
[3] Thou shalt have
no other gods before me.
Deut. 5
[1] And
Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and
judgments which I speak in your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep, and do them.
[2] The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
[3] The LORD made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even
us, who are all of us here alive this day.
[4] The LORD talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst
of the fire,
[5] (I stood between the LORD and you at that time, to shew you the work of the LORD: for ye were afraid by reason
of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,
[6] I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt,
from the house of bondage.
[7] Thou shalt have
none other gods before me.

[13] And in all things that I have said
unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods,
neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
-------------
[7] Thou shalt
have none other gods before me.
-------------
[14] Ye shall not
go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about
you;
[15] (For the LORD
thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be
kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
-------------
Deut. 7
[1]
When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before
thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the
Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and
the Hivites, and the Jebusites,
seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
[2]
And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor
shew mercy unto them:
[3]
Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy
daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his
daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
[4]
For they will turn away thy son from following me, that
they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against
you, and destroy thee suddenly.
[5]
But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall
destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves,
and burn their graven images with fire.
[6]
For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the
LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all
people that are upon the face of the earth.
--
[25] The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor
take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the
LORD thy God.
[26] Neither shalt thou bring an
abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed
thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and
thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed
thing.
-------------
[19] And it shall be, if thou do at all
forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and
worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.
[16]
Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside,
and serve other gods, and worship them; [17] And then the LORD's
wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain,
and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the
good land which the LORD giveth you.
[26]
Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
[27] A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which
I command you this day:
[28]
And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but
turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other
gods, which ye have not known.
-------------
Deut. 13
[1]
If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of
dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a
wonder,
[2] And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us
go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
[3]
Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet,
or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth
you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all
your soul.
[4] Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his
commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
[5] And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to
turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of
Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the
way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt
thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
---------
[6] If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or
thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and
serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
[7] Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you,
nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto
the other end of the earth;
[8]
Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto
him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt
thou conceal him:
[9]
But thou shalt surely kill
him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put
him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
[10]
And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die;
because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought
thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
[11]
And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness
as this is among you.
---------
[12] If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities,
which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
[13]
Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone
out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known;
[14]
Then shalt thou inquire, and make search, and ask
diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such
abomination is wrought among you;
[15]
Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city
with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and
the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
[16]
And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the
midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire
the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it
shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
[17]
And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of
his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion
upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;
[18]
When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy
God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that
which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.
---------
Deut. 17
[1]
Thou shalt not sacrifice unto the LORD thy God any
bullock, or sheep, wherein is blemish, or any evilfavouredness:
for that is an abomination unto the LORD thy God.
[2]
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in
the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant,
[3]
And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped
them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I
have not commanded;
[4]
And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and
inquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such
abomination is wrought in Israel:
[5]
Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman,
which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that
woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they
die.
[6]
At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of
death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to
death.
[7]
The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and
afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt
put the evil away from among you.
---------
[20] But the prophet, which
shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to
speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet
shall die.
---------
[14] And thou shalt
not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right
hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
[36] The LORD shall bring thee, and thy
king which thou shalt set over thee,
unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods, wood and stone.
[64] And the LORD shall scatter thee among
all people, from the one end of the earth even unto the other; and there thou shalt serve other gods, which neither thou nor thy
fathers have known, even wood and stone.
-------------
[26] For they went and served other
gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not
given unto them:[27] And the anger of the LORD
was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written
in this book:
[28] And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath,
and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.
-------------
[17]
But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not
hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other
gods, and serve them;[18] I denounce unto you this day, that ye
shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land,
whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
[19] I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have
set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life,
that both thou and thy seed may live:
[20] That thou mayest love the LORD thy God,
and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length
of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which
the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to
Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
-------------
[16]
And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt
sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land,
whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant
which I have made with them.
[17] Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will
forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured,
and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that
day. Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?
[18] And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which
they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.
[19]
Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it
the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness
for me against the children of Israel.
[20]
For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware
unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey;
and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they
turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.
[21]
And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that
this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be
forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which
they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.
[22]
Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of
Israel.
[23]
And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be
strong and of a good
courage: for thou shalt bring
the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto
them: and I will be with thee.
[24] And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the
words of this law in a book, until they were finished,
[25]
That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the
LORD, saying,
[26]
Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of
the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
[27]
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with
you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after
my death?
[28]
Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may
speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against
them.
[29]
For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn
aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the
latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him
to anger through the work of your hands.
[30]
And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation
of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.

other gods

Joshua explains
[2] And Joshua said unto all the people,
Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt
on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah,
the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and
they served other gods.
----------------------
Other gods during the Judges
[12]
And they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the
land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that
were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and provoked the LORD to
anger. [13] And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
[14] And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered
them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the
hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand
before their enemies.
[15] Whithersoever they went out, the hand of
the LORD was against them for evil, as the LORD had said, and as the LORD had
sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
[17] And yet they would not hearken unto
their judges, but they went a whoring after other gods, and bowed
themselves unto them: they turned quickly out of the way which their fathers
walked in, obeying the commandments of the LORD; but they did not so.
[19] And it came to pass, when the judge
was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers,
in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they
ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.
[13] Yet ye have forsaken me, and served
other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
--------------
Other gods during Samuel
[8] According to all the works which they
have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day,
wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also
unto thee.
[19] Now therefore, I pray thee, let my
lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have
stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the
children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out
this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve
other gods.
---------
Other gods at the time of the Kings and
Prophets
[6] But if ye shall at all turn from following
me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes
which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship
them:
-----------
[9] And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth
their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods,
and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon
them all this evil.
-----------
[4] For it came to pass, when Solomon was
old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his
heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his
father.
[10] And had commanded him concerning this
thing, that he should not go after other gods:
but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.
-----------
[9] But hast done evil above all that were
before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee
other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me
behind thy back:

[17] And Naaman
said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules'
burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer
neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.

2 Kgs. 17
[1]
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign
in Samaria over Israel nine years.
[2] And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as
the kings of Israel that were before him.
[3] Against him came up Shalmaneser king of
Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him
presents.
[4] And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea:
for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and
brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year:
therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
[5] Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went
up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
[6] In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of
Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river
of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
--------
[7]
For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their
God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of
Pharoah king of Egypt, and
had feared other gods,
[8]
And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before
the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.
[9]
And the children of Israel did secretly those
things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high
places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.
[10]
And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every
green tree:
[11]
And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom
the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the
LORD to anger:
[12]
For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye
shall not do this thing.
[13]
Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets,
and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my
commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your
fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.
[14] Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks,
like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.
[15]
And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant
that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against
them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen
that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that
they should not do like them.
[16]
And they left all the commandments of the LORD their
God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and
worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
[17]
And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and
used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight
of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
[18]
Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his
sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
[19]
Also Judah kept not the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the
statutes of Israel which they made.
[20]
And the LORD rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered
them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
[21]
For he rent Israel from the house of David; and they
made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drave Israel from following the
LORD, and made them sin a great sin.
----
[23]
Until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he had said by all his
servants the prophets. So was Israel carried away out of their own land to
Assyria unto this day.
[24]
And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon,
and from Cuthah, and from Ava, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and
placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel:
and they possessed Samaria, and dwelt in the cities thereof.
[25]
And so it was at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they feared not
the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which slew some of them.
[26]
Wherefore they spake to the king of Assyria, saying,
The nations which thou hast removed, and placed in the cities of Samaria, know
not the manner of the God of the land: therefore he hath sent lions among them,
and, behold, they slay them, because they know not the manner of the God of the
land.
[27]
Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry
thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and
dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.
[28]
Then one of the priests whom they had carried
away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.
[29]
Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and put
them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every
nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
[30]
And the men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, and the
men of Cuth made Nergal,
and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
[31] And the Avites made Nibhaz
and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their children in fire to Adrammelech
and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
[32] So they
feared the LORD, and made unto themselves of the lowest of them priests of the
high places, which sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
[33] They
feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations
whom they carried away from thence.
--------
[34] Unto this day they do
after the former manners: they fear not the LORD,
neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the
law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he
named Israel;
[35] With whom the LORD had made a covenant, and charged them saying, Ye
shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor
sacrifice to them:
[41]
So these nations feared the LORD, and served their
graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their
fathers, so do they unto this day.
-----------
[17] Because they have forsaken me, and
have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger
with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be kindled against
this place, and shall not be quenched.
-----------
[19] But if ye turn away, and forsake my
statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and
serve other gods, and worship them;
[22] And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which
brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods,
and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil
upon them.
-----------
[25] And in every several city of Judah he
made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and provoked to anger
the LORD God of his fathers.
-----------
[25] Because they have forsaken me, and
have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger
with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon
this place, and shall not be quenched.
-----------
[16] And I will utter my judgments against
them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken
me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of
their own hands.
-----------
[6] If ye oppress not the stranger, the
fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:
[9] Will ye steal, murder, and commit
adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after
other gods whom ye know not;
[18] The children gather wood, and the
fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their
dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings
unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.
-----------
[10] They are turned back to the
iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went
after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of
Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
-----------
[10] This evil people, which refuse to
hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after
other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this
girdle, which is good for nothing.
-----------
[11] Then shalt
thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith
the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and
have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;
[13] Therefore will I cast you out of this
land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall
ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew
you favour.
-----------
[4] Because they have forsaken me, and
have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods,
whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and
have filled this place with the blood of innocents;
[13] And the houses of Jerusalem, and the
houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they
have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink
offerings unto other gods.
-----------
[9] Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their
God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.
-----------
[6] And go not after other gods to
serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of
your hands; and I will do you no hurt.
-----------
[29] And the Chaldeans, that fight against
this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses,
upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink
offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.
-----------
[15] I have sent also unto you all my
servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now
every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other
gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to
you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto
me.
-----------
[3] Because of their wickedness which they
have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and
to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they,
ye, nor your fathers.
[5] But they hearkened not, nor inclined
their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.
[8] In that ye provoke me unto wrath with
the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of
Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut
yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the
nations of the earth?
[15] Then all the men which knew that
their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that
stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of
Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,
-----------
[1] Then said the LORD unto me, Go yet,
love a woman beloved of her friend, yet an adulteress,
according to the love of the LORD toward the children of Israel, who look to
other gods, and love flagons of wine.
------------
In conclusion:
Again I say, beware this pagan season of
the "False image of Love and False feelings and emotions that run wild".
These pagan feasts bring on loneliness, depression, suicide and oh
yes, debt.

Little children, keep yourselves
from idols. Amen.
