The date is June 12, 2022 (in the 21
Century)
Today’s topic:
Feast of Weeks – Pentecost
(50) - the Feast of Harvest
Looks like Paul observed Pentecost / Feast of
Weeks
Acts 20 [16]
For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time
in Asia: for he hasted,
if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost
/ Feast of Weeks.
1 Cor. 16 [8]
But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost / Feast of
Weeks.
All the Apostles
Acts 2 [1] … when the day of Pentecost / Feast of
Weeks was fully
come, they were all with one accord in one place.
“Offering time”
None shall
appear before me empty
Exod.23 [14] Three
times you shall keep a feast unto me in the year.
[15]
You shall keep the feast of unleavened bread:
(you shall eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in
the time appointed of the month abib –
ha aviv; for in
it you came out from Egypt: and none
shall appear before me empty)
[16] And the feast of harvest, the first
fruits of your labors, which you hast sown in the field: and
the feast of ingathering, which is in the end of
the year, when you hast gathered in your labors out of the field.
[17] Three times in the
year all your males shall appear before the Lord Yehovah.
Praise Yah
How did you do?
Did you
overcome anything?
Feast of Weeks / Harvest
The giving of the Law and
Spirit
The giving of the law /
Torah, the ten Commandments
Exod.20
1
[1] And God spoke all these words, saying,
[2] I am Yehovah your
God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of
bondage.
[3] You shall have no other gods before me.
2
[4] You shall not make unto thee any graven image, or any
likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth
beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
[5] You shall not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Yehovah your
God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
[6] And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep
my commandments.
3
[7] You shall not take the name of Yehovah your
God in vain; for Yehovah will
not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.
4
[8] Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.[9] Six
days shall you labor, and do all your work:
[10] But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yehovah your
God: in it you shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your
daughter, your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your
stranger that is within your gates:
[11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and
earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:
wherefore Yehovah blessed
the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
5
[12] Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be long
upon the land which Yehovah your God giveth thee.
6
[13] You shall not kill.
7
[14] You shall not commit adultery.
8
[15] You shall not steal.
9
[16] You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10
[17] You shall not covet your neighbor’s house, you shall not
covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant,
nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is your neighbor’s.
[20] …God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces
that you sin not.
The giving of the Spirit to
the Jews
Acts 2
[1] And when the day of Pentecost (Feast of Weeks) was fully come,
they were all with one accord in one place.
[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house
where they were sitting.
[3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon
each of them.
[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Feast of weeks – just Jews
at this time
[5] And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout
men, out of every nation under heaven.
[6] Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were
confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
[7] And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold,
are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
[8] And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
[9] Parthians, and
Medes, and Elamites, and the
dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
[10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in
Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and
proselytes,
[11] Cretes and
Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
[12] And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, what
does this means?
[13] Others mocking said, these men are full of new wine.
[14] But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice,
and said unto them, You men of Judaea, and all you that dwell at Jerusalem, be
this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
[15] For these are not drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour
of the day.
[16] But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
Joel 2
[28] And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my
spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your
old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
[29] And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I
pour out my spirit.
[30] And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood,
and fire, and pillars of smoke.
[31] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the
great and the terrible day of Yehovah come.
[32] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of Yehovah shall
be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as Yehovah hath
said, and in the remnant whom Yehovah shall call.
Back to Acts 2
[17] And it shall come to pass in the last
days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see
visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
[18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of
my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
[19] And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth
beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke:
[20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before
that great and notable day of the Lord come:
[21] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the
Lord shall be saved.
[22] Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Yeshua of
Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs,
which God did by him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know:
[23] Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,
you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
[24] Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was
not possible that he should be holden of it.
[25] For David speaks concerning him, I
foresaw Yehovah always
before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:
From Psalms:
Pss.16 [8] I have set Yehovah always
before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
[9] Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices:
my flesh also shall rest in hope.
[10] For you will not leave my soul in hell; neither will you
suffer Your Holy One to see corruption.
Back to Acts 2
[26] Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad;
moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:
[27] Because you will not leave my soul in hell, neither will you
suffer your Holy One to see corruption.
[28] You have made known to me the ways of life;
you shall make me full of joy with your countenance.
[29] Men and brethren, let
me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David that he
is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.
[30] Therefore being a prophet, and
knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins,
according to the flesh, he would raise up Messiah to sit on his throne;
[31] He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Messiah, that
his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
[32] This Yeshua hath
God raised up,
whereof we all are witnesses.
[33] Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having
received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this,
which you now see and hear.
[34] For David is not ascended into the heavens: but
he says himself, Yehovah said unto my Lord,
Sit you on my right hand,
[35] Until I make your foes your footstool.
[36] Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made
that same Yeshua, whom
you have crucified, both Lord and Messiah.
[37] Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto
Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Yeshua the
Messiah for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy
Ghost.
[39] For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are
afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
[40] And with many other words did he testify and exhort,
saying, save yourselves from
this untoward generation.
[41] Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day
there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
[42] And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and
fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
[43] And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the
apostles.
[44] And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
[45] And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every
man had need.
[46] And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking
bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of
heart,
[47] Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord
added to the church daily such as should be saved.
The giving of the Spirit to
the Gentiles
Acts 10
[34] …Peter opened his
mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
[35] But in every nation he that fears Him,
and works righteousness, is accepted with him.
[36] The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace
by Yeshua the
Messiah: (He is Lord of all)
[37] That word, I say, you
know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after
the baptism which John preached;
[38] How God anointed Yeshua of Nazareth with the
Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were
oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
[39] And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the
land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
[40] Him God raised up the third day, and showed him
openly;
[41] Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to
us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
[42] And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify
that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
[43] To Him, Yeshua give all the prophets’ witness, that through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of
sins.
[44] While Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Ghost
fell on all them which heard the word.
[45] And they of the circumcision (Jews) which believed were
astonished, as many as came with Peter, because
that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
[46] For they heard them speak
with tongues, and magnify God.
Then answered Peter, can any man forbid water, that these should
not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as
we (Jews)?
[48] And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the
Lord Yeshua.
Baptism at Ephesus
Acts 19
[1] And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was
at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and
finding certain disciples,
[2] He said unto them, Have you received the Holy Ghost since you
believed? And they said unto him, we have not so much as heard
whether there is any Holy Ghost.
[3] And he said unto them, unto what then were you
baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
[4] Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of
repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should
come after him, that is, on Messiah Yeshua.
[5] When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the
Lord Yeshua.
[6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy
Ghost came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and
prophesied.
[7] And all the men were about twelve.
