Shabbat Shalom

שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today, we sadly use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s.

Today is June 10, 2023

June -- Juno's month

Middle English jun(e)
Old French juin
Old English junius
Latin Junius "of Juno"
Latin Junius mensis "month of Juno"

Junius had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long.

Juno is the principle goddess of the Roman Pantheon. She is the goddess of marriage and the well-being of women. She is the wife and sister of Jupiter. She is identified with the Greek goddess Hera.

The God of Israel has His own Calendar: Sivan סִיוָן see-van day 21

Esther 8:9 Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan...

Today’s topic

People's lives:

What happened to a few people that were born:

One day, we all meet the Lord Yeshua

I coined a phase a while ago:

You are still going to meet the Lord, you could be rich, you could be poor, you could be young or old, you never know when you are going to meet the Lord.

A few different terms for meeting the Lord Yeshua:

Give, or gave up the ghost

Be gathered unto his people

Be gathered unto thy people

1 Cor. 15 [22] For as in Adam all die, (we all die one day) even so in Messiah shall all be made alive.

Heb. 9 [27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment…

Ecc.8 [8] There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death:

What happened to a few people:

First murder on earth: Cain slew Abel

Gen.4 [25] And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

Gen.5 [5] And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

[8] And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died.

[11] And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died.

[14] And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died.

[17] And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died.

[20] And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.

[27] And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

[31] And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died.

Gen.5 [24] And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

2 Pet.2 [5] And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

Gen.9 [29] And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

Gen.25 [17] And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people. [18] And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as go toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

Gen.35 [18] And it came to pass, as her, Rachel’s soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Ben-oni: but his father called him Benjamin.

Gen.35 [29] And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

Gen.49 [33] And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

Gen.50 [26] So Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

Num.33 [39] And Aaron was an hundred and twenty and three years old when he died in mount Hor.

Deut.34 [7] And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

Deut.32 [50] And die in the mount whither thou goest up, and be gathered unto thy people; as Aaron thy brother died in mount Hor, and was gathered unto his people:

Judg. 2 [10] And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not Yehovah, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.

1 Sam 4 [15] Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see.
[
16] And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son?
[
17] And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.
[
18] And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

1 Sam.25 [38] And it came to pass about ten days after, that Yehovah smote Nabal, that he died.

2 Sam.6 [7] And the anger of Yehovah was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

2 Kgs.2 [1] And it came to pass, when Yehovah would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

[11] And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

2 Kgs.13 [14] Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died

Not much is mentioned of what happened to the Apostles

A few ages and how some of them died:

Yeshua:

Luke 2 [42] And when he, Yeshua was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

Luke 3 [23] And Yeshua himself began to be about thirty years of age…

John 8 [57] Then said the Jews unto Yeshua him, you are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?

Mark 8 [31] And he began to teach them, that the Son of man, Yeshua must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

John 21: Yeshua talking to Peter:

[16] He said to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, love you me? He said unto him, Yea, Lord; you know that I love thee. He said unto him, Feed my sheep.
[17] He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest you me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Love you me? And he said unto him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love thee. Yeshua said unto him, Feed my sheep.

[18] Verily, verily, I say unto you, When you was young, you girded yourself, and walked whither you would: but when you shall be old, you shall stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither you would not.

[19] This spoke he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he said unto him, Follow me.

John the Baptist

Matt.14 [10] And he, Herod sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

Mark 10 [35] And James and John, the sons of Zebedee…

Acts.12

[1] Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.
[2] And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
[3] And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)a

Judas

Matt.27

[1] When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Yeshua to put him to death:
[2] And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
[3] Then
Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
[4] Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.
[5] And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and
went and hanged himself.
[6] And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

Acts 1

[16] Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Yeshua.
[17] For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.
[18] Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and
falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

Acts 1 – new apostle

[26] And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Acts.6

[1] And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
[2] Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

[3] Wherefore, brethren, look you out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
[4] But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

[5] And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

[6] Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
[7] And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
[8] And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

[9] Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia,

disputing with Stephen.

[10] And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spoke.

[11] Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
[12] And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
[13] And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceases not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
[14] For we have heard him say, that this Yeshua of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
[15] And all that sat in the council, looking steadfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.

Stephen

Acts 7 [59] And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Yeshua, receive my spirit. [60] And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

Apostles are there until chapter 12

Then Saul and Barnabas,

Acts 15

[36] And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.
[37] And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

[38] But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
[39] And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

[40] And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
[41] And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

Then Saul and Silas

Silas is mention until Acts 18

Then just Saul / Paul sailed all around

Phlm.1

[1] Paul, a prisoner of Yeshua the Messiah, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellow laborer,
[2] And to our beloved Apphia, and Archippus our fellow soldier, and to the church in thy house:
[3] Grace to you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

Phlm.1 [9] Yet for love's sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Yeshua the Messiah.

Acts 28 [30] And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,
[31] Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.

Let’s read Heb. 11, a summary

Heb. 11
[1] Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
[2] For by it the elders obtained a good report.
[3] Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

[4] By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speak.
[5] By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
[6] But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
[7] By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
[8] By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
[9] By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
[10] For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
[11] Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
[12] Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
[13] These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
[14] For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
[15] And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
[16] But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he had prepared for them a city.
[17] By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
[18] Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
[19] Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
[20] By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come.
[21] By faith Jacob, when he was a dying, blessed both the sons of Joseph; and worshipped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
[22] By faith Joseph, when he died, made mention of the departing of the children of Israel; and gave commandment concerning his bones.
[23] By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king's commandment.
[24] By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter;
[25] Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
[26] Esteeming the reproach of Messiah greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.
[27] By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
[28] Through faith he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of blood, lest he that destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
[29] By faith they passed through the Red sea as by dry land: which the Egyptians assaying to do were drowned.
[30] By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
[31] By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

[32] And what shall I more say?

for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

[33] Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
[34] Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

[35] Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

[36] And others had trial of cruel mocking and scourging, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
[37] They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
[38] (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

Rev 1

[9] I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Yeshua the Messiah, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Yeshua the Messiah.

Πτμος Patmos {pat'-mos}

Meaning:  Patmos = "my killing" - rugged and bare island

Of uncertain derivation; Patmus, an islet (island) in the Mediterranean:

Luke 20 34] And Yeshua answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
[35] But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
[36] Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

[37] Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush, when he calls the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
[38] For
he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

In closing for today:

Ecc.12

[7] Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

[13] Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
[14] For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Yeshua said:

John 11 [26] And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die.

Do you believe this?

May God bless you all
