Shabbat Shalom

שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today, we sadly use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s.

Today’s date is Jan. 7, 2023 - again

January -- Janus's month

Middle English Januarie
Latin Januarius "of Janus"
Latin Janu(s) "Janus" + -arius "ary (pertaining to)"
Latin Januarius mensis "month of Janus"

Janus is the Roman god of gates and doorways, depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions. His festival month is January. Januarius had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

The God of Israel has His own Calendar: we are now in the 10th month of God, Teveth, day 14

Esth.2 [16] So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign. טֵבֵת

Today’s Topic:

A few Prophecies, Credentials of Messiah Yeshua

Credentials are testimonials, evidence, written proofs, such as letters of commendation or legal documents, proving the bearer’s right to office or position.

Messiah was very aware of fulfilling scripture

Messiah's testimony in the Gospels bare witness that He fulfilled all the TaNaKh prophecies pertaining Himself

This is an amazing miracle in itself. There is no parallel in the literature of the world.

Luke 24[44] And he, Yeshua said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me.

Prov.25 [2] It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.

So let’s search:

Messiah is from the “Seed of the woman”, Messiah was to bruise Satan’s head (Gen. 3:15 with Gal. 4:4).

Gen.3 [15] And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.

Gal.4 [4] But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law…

Messiah is from the Seed of Abraham (Gen. 22:17, 18 with Gal. 3:16)

Gen. 22 [17] That in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;[18] And in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because you have obeyed my voice.

Gal. 3: [16] Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He said not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to your seed, which is Messiah.

Messiah is from the Seed of David (Psa. 132:11, Jer. 23:5 with Acts 13:22, 23)

Pss. 132 [11] Yehovah had sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of your body will I set upon your throne.

Acts 2 [30] Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Messiah to sit on his throne;

Acts 13 [22] … he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfill all my will [23] Of this man's seed had God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Savior, Yeshua

Messiah was to come from the tribe of Judah (Gen. 49:10 – with Rev.5:5, Heb. 7:14).

Gen. 49 [10] The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Rev.5 [5] And one of the elders said unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, had prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Heb. 7 [14] For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah; of which tribe Moses spoke nothing concerning priesthood.

Messiah had to come at a specified time (Gen. 49:10, Dan. 9:24-25 with Gal. 4:4, 5)

The Messiah had to come before the tribe of Judah lost its tribal identity

Gen. 49 [10] The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Dan. 9 [24] Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

[25] Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
[26] And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

Gal.4 [4] But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
[5] To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Messiah was to be born of a virgin (Isa. 7:14 with Matt. 1:18-23; also Luke 1:27, 35, 36),

Isa.7 [14] Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Luke.1 [26] And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,[27] To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

[34] Then said Mary unto the angel, how shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
[35] And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of you shall be called the Son of God. (the Word of God)

Messiah is from Bethlehem of Judaea (Micah 5:2 with Matt. 2:1, Luke 2:4-6)

Mic. 5 [2] But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Matt.2 [1] Now when Yeshua was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem

Great persons were to visit and adore Him (Psa. 72 with Matt. 2:).

Through the rage of a jealous king Herod

Who else can this psalm be talking about, but only the Messiah Yeshua

Pss.72

[1] Give the king your judgments, O God, and your righteousness unto the king's son.
[2] He, Messiah shall judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with judgment.
[3] The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.
[4] He, Messiah shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
[5] They shall fear you, Messiah as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.
[6] He , Messiah shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
[7] In, Messiah, his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endures.
[8] He, Messiah shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
[9] They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him, Messiah; and his enemies shall lick the dust.

[10] The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

[11] Yea, all kings shall fall down before him, Messiah: all nations shall serve him, Messiah.
[12] For he, Messiah shall deliver the needy when he cries; the poor also, and him that had no helper.
[13] He, Messiah shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.
[14] He, Messiah shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.
[15] And he, Messiah shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he, Messiah be praised.

[16] There shall be a handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.

[17] His, Messiah name shall endure for ever: his, Messiah name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him, Messiah: all nations shall call him, Messiah blessed.

[18] Blessed be Yehovah God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.
[19] And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen. [20] The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

Matt.2

[1] Now when Yeshua was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,

Innocent children of Israel were to be slaughtered at that time (Jer. 31:15 with Matt. 2:16-18)

Jer.31 [15] Thus said YehovahA voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

Matt. 2 [16] Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.

[17] Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
[18] In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

Messiah was to be preceded by a forerunner, John the Baptistbefore entering His public ministry (Isa. 40:3, 4,5 -  Mal. 3:1 with Matt. 3:1-3, :10 and Luke 7:27 - Mark 1:2)

Isa. 40 [3] The voice of him that cries in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of Yehovah, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
[4] Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
[5] And the glory of Yehovah shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of Yehovah had spoken it.

Mal. 3 [1] Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to this temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom you delight in: behold, he shall come, said Yehovah of hosts.

Matt. 11 [10] For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you.

Matt. 3 [1] In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
[2] And saying, Repent you: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
[3] For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare you the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Mark 1 [2] As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you.

Luke 7 [27] This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare your way before you.

Messiah was to be a prophet like Moses (Deut. 18:15& 18 with Acts 3:19-23)

Deut. 18  [15] Yehovah your God will raise up unto you a Prophet from the midst of you, of your brethren, like unto me; unto him you shall hearken;

[18] I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

Acts 3 [19] Repent you therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
[20] And he shall send Yeshua Messiah, which before was preached unto you:
[21] Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God had spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
[22] For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
[23] And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

Messiah was to be a priest after the order of Melchisedec (Psa. 110:4 with Heb. 5:5-10, 6:20).

Pss. 110 [4] Yehovah had sworn, and will not repent, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Heb. 5 [6] As he said also in another place, Thou are a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

[10] Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.

Heb. 6 [20] Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Yeshua, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Messiah, as the “Servant of the Lord,” Messiah was to be a faithful and patient redeemer, for the Gentiles as well as the Jews (Isa. 42:1, 4, 6 with Matt. 12).

Isa. 42

[1] Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
[2] He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
[3] A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
[4] He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he has set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

Matt. 12 [8] For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.
[9] And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
[10] And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
[11] And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the Sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
[12] How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the Sabbath days.
[13] Then said he to the man, Stretch forth your hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
[14] Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
[15] But when Yeshua knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

[16] And charged them that they should not make him known:
[17] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying,
[18] Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles.
[19] He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
[20] A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
[21] And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

Messiah’s ministry was to begin in Galilee, Zebulun and Naphtali (Isa. 9:1-2 with Matt. 4:12-16, 23);

Isa.9

[1] Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
[2] The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them had the light shined.

Matt. 4 [12] Now when Yeshua had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;
[13] And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:
[14] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
[15] The land of
Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
[16] The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

[23] And Yeshua went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Messiah was to enter Jerusalem on a donkey - (Zech. 9:9 with Matt. 21:1-10) to bring salvation.

Messiah was meek and lowly

Zech. 9 [9] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, your King cometh unto you: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

Matt. 21 [2] Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

[5] Tell you the daughter of Sion, Behold, your King cometh unto you, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

Messiah was to enter the second temple before it was destroyed (Hag. 2:7, 8, 9, Mal. 3:1-2)

Mal. 3 [1] Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to this temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom you delight in: behold, he shall come, said Yehovah of hosts. [2] But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appears? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:
[3] And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto Yehovah an offering in righteousness.

Hag. 2 [7] And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, said Yehovah of hosts.
[8] The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, said Yehovah of hosts.
[9] The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, said Yehovah of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, said Yehovah of hosts.

Messiah’s manner of teaching was to be by parables.

Too many to list:

Pss. 78 [2] I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

Mark 4 [2And he spoke many things unto them in parables, saying,

[33] And with many such parables spoke he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

[34] But without a parable he spoke not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

Messiah’s ministry was to be characterized by miracles

Too many to list J

Isa. 35

[1] The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.
[2] It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of Yehovah, and the excellency of our God.
[3] Strengthen you the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.
[4] Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you.
[5] Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
[6] Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.
[7] And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
[8] And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.
[9] No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up there on, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:
[10] And the ransomed of Yehovah shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

John 2 [11] This beginning of miracles did Yeshua in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

[23] Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

John 3 [2The same came to Yeshua by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you doest, except God be with him.

John 6 [2] And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.

[26] Yeshua answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

John 7 [31] And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Messiah cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man had done?

John 9 [16] Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keeps not the Sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

John 11 [47] Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

John 12 [37] But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

John.21 [25] And there are also many other things which Yeshua did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

Messiah was to be rejected by all - His friends and brethren (Psa. 41:9, with John 7:5

Pss. 41 [9] Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, had lifted up his heel against me.

John 7 [5] For neither did his brethren believe in him.

Isa.53

[3] He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
[4] Surely he had borne our grief, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
[5] But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
[6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and Yehovah had laid on him the iniquity of us all.
[7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opens not his mouth.
[8] He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
[9] And he made his grave with the wicked and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
[10] Yet it pleased Yehovah to bruise him; he had put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Yehovah shall prosper in his hand.
[11] He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
[12] Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he had poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Messiah’s sufferings and death at Jerusalem were all in accordance with what had been foretold in Psa. 22 and Isa. 53.

John 10…and the scripture cannot be broken…

Isa.9 [6] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

In closing for now,
