Today, we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s,

The date is May 14, 2022 (in the 21 Century)

May -- Maia's month

Old French Mai
Old English
Maius
Latin
Maius "of Maia"
Latin
Maius mensis "month of Maia"

Maius has always had 31 days.

Maia (meaning "the great one") is the Italic goddess of springthe daughter of Faunus, and wife of Vulcan.

The God of Israel has His own Calendar:

We are now in the second month of God called Zif, day 12, זִו   Ziv

ziv - brightness, (figuratively) the month of flowers

1 Kgs.6 [1] And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Yehovah.

Coming Feast:

Feast of Weeks - June 12, Sunday a Sabbath - Hag Sh'vu-ot –

  חַ֤ג שָׁבֻעֹת֙

Feast of Harvest Hag ha katseer

  חַ֤ג הַקָּצִיר

Pentecost πεντηκοστή - pentēkoste

Today is the third Sabbath of the seven Sabbaths we were told to count

We were told to count "Sabbaths" not omers.

An "omer" is a "sheaf" of barley - עמר omer  - A dry measure of 1/10 ephah (about 2 liters)

Lev.23 [15And you shall count unto you from the morrow after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven Sabbaths shall be complete:

[16] Even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall you number fifty days; and you shall offer a new meat offering unto Yehovah.

Our seven week journey we observe, in memorial to meet God again on Mt. Sinai to receive the commandments and receive the Spirit of God.

From slaves in Egypt (our last lives of sin) to the people of God

The giving of the Law (10 commandments) and the giving of the Holy Spirit

How are you be behaving these 50 days? (Physically and Spiritually)

Today’s Topic:

Requirements of God

So what does Yehovah require of you?

I coined a few proverbs a few years ago, they go like this:

If you don’t pray, you won’t stay

If you don’t fast, you won’t last.

Unfortunately I have seen this happen many times to people.

James tells us:

Be merciful

Jas.2 [13] For He, the Father shall have judgment without mercy, that hath showed no mercy; and mercy rejoices against judgment.

Brother Micah says:

Mic. 6: [6] wherewith shall I come before Yehovah and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

[7] Will Yehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

[8] He hath showed thee, O man / woman, what is good; and what does Yehovah require of you,

but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Deut.10 [12] And now, Israel, what does Yehovah thy God require of you,

but to fear Yehovah your God,

to walk in all His ways,

and to love Him,

and to serve Yehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

[13] To keep the commandments of Yehovah,

and His statutes, which I command you this day for your good?

[14] Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is Yehovah’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

[15] Only Yehovah had a delight in your fathers to love them, and He chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.

[16] Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiff-necked.

[17] For Yehovah your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regards not persons, nor takes reward:

[18] He does execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loves the stranger, in giving him food and raiment.

[19] Love you therefore the stranger: for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

[20] You shall fear Yehovah thy God; Him shall you serve, and to Him shall you cleave, and swear by His name.

[21] He is your praise, and He is your God, that hath done for you these great and terrible things, which your eyes have seen.

[22] Your fathers went down into Egypt with threescore and ten persons; and now Yehovah your God hath made you as the stars of heaven for multitude.

Deut.18 [18] I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto you, and will put My words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. [19] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which he shall speak in My name, I will require it of him.

Deut.23 [21] When you shall vow a vow unto Yehovah your God, you shall not slack to pay it: for Yehovah your God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in you.

Ecc.3 [15] That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requires that which is past.

Observe:

Prayer

Fasting

Show and love mercy

Walk humbly

Alms – ἐλεημοσύνη - eleēmosunē - el-eh-ay-mos-oo'-nay: deeds, mercy, compassionateness, that is, as exercised towards your brothers and sisters, the poor.

Yeshua said:

Matt. 6 [1Take heed:

Alms

that you do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise you  have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

[2] Therefore when you do your alms, do not sound a trumpet before yourself, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

[3] But when you do alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand does:

[4] That your alms may be in secret: and your Father which sees in secret himself shall reward you openly.

Prayer

[5] And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

[6] But you, when you pray, enter into thy closet, and when you have shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which sees in secret shall reward thee openly.

[7] But when you you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

[8] Be not you therefore like unto them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask Him.

[9] After this manner therefore pray you:

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
[10] Your kingdom come.
Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
[11] Give us this day our daily bread.
[12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
[13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For your is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

[14] For if you forgive men their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you:[15] But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Fasting

[16] Moreover when you fastbe not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

[17] But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face;
[18] That you appear not unto men to fast, but unto your Father which is in secret: and your Father, which sees in secret, shall reward you openly.

[19] Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust does corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

[20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

[21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

[22] The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be single, your whole body shall be full of light.

[23] But if your eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you be darkness, how great is that darkness!

[24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

[25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

[26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?

[27] Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

[28] And why take you thought for raiment?

Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:[29] And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

[30] Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O you  of little faith?

[31] Therefore take no thought, saying:

What shall we eat?  Or, what shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

[32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

[33] But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

[34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.

Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Matt.9 [14] Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples fast not?

[15] And Yeshua said unto them, Can the children of the bride chamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them?

but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and “then shall they fast.

Saul to the Corinthians

1Cor.13 - Charity sounds like a Messiah attribute to me.

[1] Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

[2] And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

[3] And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profits me nothing.

[4] Charity suffers long, and is kind; charity envies not; charity vaunts not itself, is not puffed up,

[5] Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil;

[6] Rejoices not in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

[7] Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

[8Charity never fails: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail;

Whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

[9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

[10] But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

[11] When I was a child, I spoke as a child; I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

[12] For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

[13] And now abides faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Saul to the Romans

Rom.12 [1] I beseech you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

[2] And be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good, acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

[3] For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

[4] For as we have many members in one body and all members have not the same office:

[5] So we, being many, are one body in Messiah, and every one member’s one of another.

[6] Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

[7] Or ministry let us wait on our ministering: or he that teaches, on teaching;

[8] Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

[9] Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. - Without dissimulation (hypocrisy)

[10] Be kindly affectionate one to another with brotherly / sisterly love; in honor preferring one another;

[11] Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord Yeshua;

[12] Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

[13] Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

[14] Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

[15] Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

[16] Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

[17] Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

[18] If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men.

[19] Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, says Yehovah.

[20] Therefore if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head.

[21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Luke.6 [36Be you therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful [37]

Judge not, and you shall not be judged:

condemn not, and you shall not be condemned:

forgive, and you shall be forgiven: [38]

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Always be clean before your God

Matt.6 [14For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

[15But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Remember not to complain, murmur

Num.11 [1] And when the people complained, it displeased Yehovah: and Yehovah heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of Yehovah burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

[2] And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto Yehovah, the fire was quenched.[3] And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of Yehovah burnt among them.

Don’t complained, be Faithful, have faith

2 Cor.1 [24] … for by faith you stand.

2 Cor.5 [7For we walk by faith, not by sight…

Eph.2 [8For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Eph.6 [16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Rom. 1 [17] For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Hab.2 [4] …the just shall live by his faith.

In closing for today:

Here are some attributes to remember:

Have Faith (in Messiah and his blood for forgiveness)

Alms

Prayer

Fasting

Show and love mercy

Walk humbly with your God

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Next week it will be the fourth Sabbath of the seven Sabbaths we were told to count, see you then, Lord willing…
