Question:
Why are we here today?
Answer: We were told to remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy
The 4th
Commandment is a part of the covenant given to us at mount Sinai in the 3rd
month, Sivan
Ex. 20 [8] Remember the
Sabbath day, to keep it holy. [9] Six
days shalt thou labour, and
do all thy work:
[10] But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy
God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy
son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor
thy stranger that is "within thy gates":
[11] For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the
sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD
blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Lev. 23: [3] Six
days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy
convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath
of the LORD "in
all your dwellings".
Exod. 31 [13] Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep : for it is a sign between
me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD
that doth sanctify you.
[16] Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath
throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant .
[17] It is a sign between me and the children of
Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the
seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
Ezek. 20 [12]
Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between
me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
[20] And hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign
between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.
Messiah Yeshua speaking of the future: Matt.24 [20] But pray ye that your
flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath
day:
We read
from law and the prophets every Sabbath. 60 times in the Gospels and letters it
uses the word Sabbath

shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well
as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is
God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will
hear it.
[19] Thou shalt not wrest (pervert) judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a
gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous.

[12] And they put him in ward, that
the mind of the LORD might be shewed them. (that it might be
declared unto them at the mouth of the LORD)
[13] And the LORD spake
unto Moses, saying,
[14] Bring forth him that hath cursed without
the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his
head, and let all the congregation stone him.
[15] And thou shalt
speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin.
[16] And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall
surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him:
as well the stranger, as he that is born in the
land, when he blasphemeth the name of
the LORD, shall be put to death.
[16] Then said Yeshua
unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
[17] And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were
bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
[18] And they all
with one consent began to make excuse.
The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it:
I pray thee have me excused.
[19] And another said, I have bought five yoke of
oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
[20] And another said, I have married a wife,
and therefore I cannot come.
[21] So that servant came, and shewed
his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to
his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring
in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
[22] And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and
yet there is room.
[23] And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and
hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
[24] For I say unto you, That
none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
[25] And there went great multitudes with him: and
he turned, and said unto them,
[26] If any man come to me, and hate not his
father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and
his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
[27] And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Don't put any thing, or any person above God in following Him. Don't
let any or any person stop you from serving the Lord.
[28] For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth
the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
[29] Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish
it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
[30] Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
[31] Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth
not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against
him with twenty thousand?
[32] Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth

[6] If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy
son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and
serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
[7] Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto
thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other
end of the earth;
[8] Thou shalt not
consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine
eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
[9] But thou shalt surely kill
him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to
death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
[10] And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he
die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which
brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
[11] And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such
wickedness as this is among you.
[12] If thou shalt hear
say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell
there, saying,
[13] Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you,
and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve
other gods, which ye have not known;
[14] Then shalt thou inquire, and make search,
and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that
such abomination is wrought among you;
[15] Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants
of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is
therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
[16] And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it
into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn
with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God:
and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be
built again.
[17] And there shall cleave nought of the
cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn
from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee
mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto
thy fathers;
[18] When thou shalt hearken to the voice of
the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day,
to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

Teach their children
[10]
Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD
thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather
me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn
to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
[4] Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
[5] And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with
all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all
thy might.
[6] And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
[7] And thou shalt
teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt
talk of them when thou sittest in thine
house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when
thou liest down, and when thou risest
up.

From the beginning:
Gen. 3 [16] Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply
thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt
bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to
thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Gen. 18 [19] For I know him, (Abraham) that he will command his children and his household after him,
and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice
and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath
spoken of him.

[22] Wives, submit
yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
[23] For the
husband is the head of the wife, even as Messiah is the head of the church: and
he is the saviour of the body.
[24] Therefore as
the church is subject unto Messiah, so let the wives be
to their own husbands in every thing.
[25] Husbands, love
your wives, even as Messiah also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
[18] Wives, submit
yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
[19] Husbands, love
your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Tit. 1
[1] Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Yeshua the Messiah, according to the faith of God's elect,
and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
[2] In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the
world began;
[3] But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is
committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
[4] To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace,
from God the Father and the Lord, Yeshua the Messiah,
our Saviour.
[5] For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest
set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I
had appointed thee:
[6] If any be blameless, the husband of one wife,
having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
1Tim. 3
[1] This is a true saying, If
a man desire the office of a bishop, (overseership, the office of an elder) he desireth a good work.
[2] A bishop then must be blameless, the
husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour,
given to hospitality, apt to teach;
[3] Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but
patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
[4] One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with
all gravity;
[5] (For if a man know not how to rule his own
house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
[6] Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall
into the condemnation of the devil.
[7] Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest
he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
[8] Likewise must the
deacons (minister, a servant of all) be grave, not doubletongued,
not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
[9] Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
[10] And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of
a deacon, being found blameless.
[11] Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in
all things.
[12] Let the deacons be the husbands of one
wife, ruling their children and their own houses
well.
[13] For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to
themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Messiah Yeshua.
1Pet. 3
[1] Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word,
they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
[2] While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
[3] Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the
hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
[4] But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not
corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the
sight of God of great price.
[5] For after this manner in the old time the holy
women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto
their own husbands:
[6] Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as
long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
[7] Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge,
giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker
vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be
not hindered.
[8] Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another,
love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
[9] Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but
contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit
a blessing.

Jas. 2[4]
Are ye not then partial in yourselves , and are become judges of evil
thoughts?

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and
easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without
partiality , and without hypocrisy.
Prov. 30[ 32] If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself,
or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy
mouth.
Ezek. 31[10]
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou
hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the
thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;[11
] I have therefore delivered him into the hand of the mighty one of the
heathen; he shall surely deal with him: I have driven him out for his wickedness.
Dan. 5 [23]
But hast lifted up thyself against the LORD of heaven ; and they have

wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the
gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor
hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy

that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.[26] This is the
interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished
it.[27] TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.[28
] PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
[29] Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet,

surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto
these in love.
[3] And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred
concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
[4] For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned
away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD
his God, as was the heart of David his father.
[5] For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the
abomination of the Ammonites.
[6] And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully
after the LORD, as did David his father.
[7] Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is
before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of
the children of Ammon.

for all his strange wives,
which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.
Ezra 10
[1]
Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting
himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a
very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very
sore.
[2]
And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel,
one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have trespassed against
our God, and have taken strange wives of the
people of the land: yet now there is hope in Israel concerning this thing.
[3] Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the
wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and
of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done
according to the law.
[4]
Arise; for this matter belongeth unto thee: we also
will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.
[5] Then arose Ezra, and made the chief priests, the Levites, and all
Israel, to swear that they should do according to this word. And they sware.
[6]
Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and
when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had
been carried away.
[7]
And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children
of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;
[8] And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to
the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be
forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been
carried away.
[9] Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together
unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month,(Chislev) on the twentieth day of the
month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling
because of this matter, and for the great rain.

And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye
have transgressed, and have taken strange wives,
to increase the trespass of Israel.
[11] Now
therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his
pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.
[12] Then all the congregation
answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.
[13] But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are
not able to stand without, neither is this a work of
one day or two: for we are many that have
transgressed in this thing.
[14]
Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have
taken strange wives in our cities come at
appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges
thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.
[15]
Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were
employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.
[16] And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with
certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them
by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth
month (Te'veth) to examine the matter.

And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month. (ha Aviv, Nisan)
[18] And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and
his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer,
and Jarib, and Gedaliah.
[19] And
they gave their hands that they would put away their
wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their
trespass.

And of the sons of Immer; Hanani,
and Zebadiah.
[21] And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah,
and Jehiel, and Uzziah.
[22] And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.

There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of
Judah, and in Jerusalem.
[17] Then
I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this
that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?
[18] Did not your fathers
thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
[19] And
it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that
the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after
the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the
gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath
day.
[20] So
the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or
twice.
[21] Then I testified against them, and said
unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands
on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath.
[22] And I commanded the
Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep
the gates, to sanctify the sabbath
day.
Remember me, O my God, concerning this also,
and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
[23] In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
[24] And their children spake half in the speech of
Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews' language, but according to the
language of each people.
[25]
And I contended with them, and cursed them, and
smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye
shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto
your sons, or for yourselves.
[26]
Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things?
yet among many nations was there no king like him, who
was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.
[27] Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in
marrying strange wives?
[28]
And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore
I chased him from me.
[29]
Remember them, O my God, because they
have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the
Levites.
[30] Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of
the priests and the Levites, every one in his
business;
[31] And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits.
Remember me, O my God, for good.

1Pet. 4 [17] For the
time is come that judgment must begin at the house of
God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that
obey not the gospel of God?
[18] And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall
the ungodly and the sinner appear?
[19] Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the
keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that
ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.
[2] And thou shalt remember all the way which
the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee,
and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart,
whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
[3] And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with
manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy
fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread
only, but by every word that proceedeth
out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
Matt. 4[4] But Yeshua
answered and said, It is written (in Deut. 8:3)
Man shall not live by
bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of
the mouth of God.
