Today is January 25, 2020

January -- Janus's month

Janus is the Roman god of gates and doorways, depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions. His festival month is January. Januarius had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

We acknowledge Yehovah’s calendar: We are now in the tenth month, Teveth  טֵבֵת day 29

Esth.2 [16] So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

Part of Dec. 2019 and Jan. 2020

New moon report - Jan. 27, 2020 next Monday - We will get together on Sunday evening to bring in the 11th month

The eleventh month, which is the month Sh’vat   שְׁבָט

Zech.1 [7]the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat

Today’s Topic:

Scriptural months

Recently I received two emails pertaining to the calendar of God

Let’s go over this:

Saul says to the Colossians:

Colossians 2:16: Let no man therefore judge you in meat (food), or in drink, or in respect of an holyday (not holiday) or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: 17: Which are a shadow of "things to come"; ( future tense ) but the body is of Messiah.

judge - κρινω krino: to try to condemn, to separate, put asunder, to pick out, to be of opinion, judge, to pronounce an opinion concerning right and wrong, to contend, to dispute

Meat (food) God told us what to eat and not eat – Lev. 11

New moon – the new moon

Holyday εορτη heorte -heh-or-tay' - a festival: - feast, holyday.

Shadow σκια skia : shadow, an image cast by an object and representing the form of that object, a sketch, outline

This Sunday evening starts the 11th month - Shvat

The eleventh month

Deut.1the first day of the eleventh month

[1] These be the words which Moses spake unto all Israel on this side Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran, and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab.
[2] (There are eleven days' journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kadesh-barnea.)

[3] And it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spake unto the children of Israel, according unto all that Yehovah had given him in commandment unto them;

[4] After he had slain Sihon the king of the Amorites, which dwelt in Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, which dwelt at Astaroth in Edrei:
[5] On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,
[6] Yehovah our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:
[7] Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
[8] Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which Yehovah sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
[9] And I spake unto you at that time, saying, I am not able to bear you myself alone:
[10] Yehovah your God hath multiplied you, and, behold, ye are this day as the stars of heaven for multitude.
[11] (Yehovah God of your fathers make you a thousand times so many more as ye are, and bless you, as he hath promised you!)
[12] How can I myself alone bear your cumbrance, and your burden, and your strife?
[13] Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you.
[14] And ye answered me, and said, the thing which thou hast spoken is good for us to do.
[15] So I took the chief of your tribes, wise men, and known, and made them heads over you, captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, and captains over fifties, and captains over tens, and officers among your tribes.
[16] And I charged your judges at that time, saying, Hear the causes between your brethren, and judge righteously between every man and his brother, and the stranger that is with him.
[17] Ye shall not respect persons in judgment; but ye shall hear the small as well as the great; ye shall not be afraid of the face of man; for the judgment is God's: and the cause that is too hard for you, bring it unto me, and I will hear it.
[18] And I commanded you at that time all the things which ye should do.
[19] And when we departed from Horeb, we went through all that great and terrible wilderness, which ye saw by the way of the mountain of the Amorites, as Yehovah our God commanded us; and we came to Kadesh-barnea.
[20] And I said unto you, Ye are come unto the mountain of the Amorites, which Yehovah our God doth give unto us.
[21] Behold, Yehovah thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as Yehovah God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.
[22] And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.
[23] And the saying pleased me well: and I took twelve men of you, one of a tribe:
[24] And they turned and went up into the mountain, and came unto the valley of Eshcol, and searched it out.
[25] And they took of the fruit of the land in their hands, and brought it down unto us, and brought us word again, and said, It is a good land which Yehovah our God doth give us.
[26] Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of Yehovah your God:
[27] And ye murmured in your tents, and said, Because Yehovah hated us, he hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.
[28] Whither shall we go up? our brethren have discouraged our heart, saying, The people is greater and taller than we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakims there.
[29] Then I said unto you, Dread not, neither be afraid of them.
[30] Yehovah your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes;
[31] And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that Yehovah thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
[32] Yet in this thing ye did not believe Yehovah your God,
[33] Who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to shew you by what way ye should go, and in a cloud by day.
[34] And Yehovah heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
[35] Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
[36] Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed Yehovah.
[37] Also Yehovah was angry with me for your sakes, saying, Thou also shalt not go in thither.
[38] But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither: encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
[39] Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, which in that day had no knowledge between good and evil, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.
[40] But as for you, turn you, and take your journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.
[41] Then ye answered and said unto me, We have sinned against Yehovah, we will go up and fight, according to all that Yehovah our God commanded us. And when ye had girded on every man his weapons of war, ye were ready to go up into the hill.
[42] And Yehovah said unto me, Say unto them, Go not up, neither fight; for I am not among you; lest ye be smitten before your enemies.
[43] So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of Yehovah, and went presumptuously up into the hill.
[44] And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir, even unto Hormah.
[45] And ye returned and wept before Yehovah; but Yehovah would not hearken to your voice, nor give ear unto you.
[46] So ye abode in Kadesh many days, according unto the days that ye abode there.

Zech.1 – the 24 day of the eleventh month

[1] In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Yehovah unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,
[2] Yehovah hath been sore displeased with your fathers.
[3] Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith Yehovah of hosts; Turn ye unto me, saith Yehovah of hosts, and I will turn unto you, saith Yehovah of hosts.
[4] Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith Yehovah of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith Yehovah.
[5] Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?
[6] But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like as Yehovah of hosts thought to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath he dealt with us.
[7] Upon
the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Yehovah unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,
[8] I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.
[9] Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.
[10] And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom Yehovah hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
[11] And they answered the angel of Yehovah that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
[12] Then the angel of Yehovah answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?
[13] And Yehovah answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.
[14] So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith Yehovah of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
[15] And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.
[16] Therefore thus saith Yehovah; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith Yehovah of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.
[17] Cry yet, saying, Thus saith Yehovah of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and Yehovah shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
[18] Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.
[19] And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.
[20] And Yehovah shewed me four carpenters.
[21] Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

Another captain

1 Chr. 27 [14] The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim: and in his course were twenty and four thousand.

Let’s go over the months in the Scriptures

The BARLEY was NOT given for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years!

Gen.1 [14] And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
[15] And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
[16] And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
[17] And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
[18] And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
[19] And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Pss.104 [19] He appointed the moon for seasons:

The lesser light - Moon - month

Pss.104 [19] He, God appointed the moon for seasons:

12 months

1 Nisan, ha aviv

Esth.3 [7] In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, נִיסָן

***New Year, In Spring!

Exod. 12 [1] And Yehovah spoke unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, [2] This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

Exod.13 [4] this day came ye out in the month Abib, הָאָבִיב (ha aviv) March,  April, Spring

By the way, there are many types of barley. Just use the scriptures for clarity so there will be no confusion.

2 - Ziv

1 Kgs. 6 [1] And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month זִו

3 - Sivan

Esth.8 [9] Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, סִיוָן

4 - No name

Not Judaism’s made up name - Tammuz

Ezek. 8 [13] He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do. [14] Then he brought me to the door of the gate of Yehovah's house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. [15] Then said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man? turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these.

(A pagan deity) תַּמּוּז - a Sumerian deity of food or vegetation, a Phoenician deity

5 – No name

Nor Judaism’s made up name - Ab /Av

6 Elul - no direct verse to name this month. Two verses to prove the name.

Neh.6 [15] So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul אֱלוּל in fifty and two days…

Neh.7 [73] So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

7ha Ethanim

Not Judaism’s made up name Tisre – not Rosh Ha Shana (head of the year) not New Year, not Adam’s birth day, not when the world was created…

1Kgs.8 [2] And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, הָאֵתָנִים which is the seventh month…

8Bul

Not Judaism’s made up names Marheshvan - Heshvan

12 - Adar

Esth.3 [7]the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar אֲדָר

I guess Judaism forgot these verses when they made up names for God’s months

Deut.4 [2] You shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of Yehovah your God which I command you.

Deut.5 [22] These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

Deut.12 [32] What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

Prov.30 [6] Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

The scriptural list goes like this:

1 - Nisan, ha aviv

2 - Ziv

3 - Sivan

4 - No name

5 - No name

6 - Elul

7 - ha Ethanim

8 -Bul
