Today is February

February -- month of Februa
Middle English Februarius
Latin Februarius "of Februa"
Latin Februa(s) "Februa"
+ -arius "ary (pertaining to)"
Latin Februarius mensis
"month of Februa"
Latin dies februatus "day of purification"
Februarius had 28
days, until circa 450 BC when it had 23 or 24 days on some of every second
year, until Julius when it had 29 days on every fourth year and 28 days
otherwise.
Februa is the
Roman festival of purification, held on February fifteenth. It is possibly of
Sabine origin.
We acknowledge Yehovah’s calendar:
We are now in the eleventh month, which is the month Sh’vat… שְׁבָט

Today’s
Topic:
The voice of Yehovah
God
קוֹל
יְהוָה
אֱלֹהִים
It seems like all the stories in scripture pertain to Obeying and
Disobeying God, one way or another.
The voice of Yehovah – another form of
God
Mark.16 [12]
… Yeshua appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country
A few instances of the voice of Yehovah
in Torah:
Gen.3 - First instance:
Eve has a conversation with the serpent
(5 verses we have in torah, changed the existence for all mankind
forever)
[1] Now the serpent
was more subtil than any beast of the field which Yehovah God had made. And the serpent said unto the woman, Yea, hath
God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
[2] And the woman said unto the
serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the
garden:
[3]
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath
said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
[4] And the serpent
said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
[5]
For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be
opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Conversation ended
[6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and
that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise,
she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with
her; and he did eat.
[7] And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that
they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
קוֹל
יְהוָה
אֱלֹהִים,
מִתְהַלֵּךְ
[8] And they heard
the voice of Yehovah God walking in the
garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the
presence of Yehovah God amongst the trees of the
garden.
[9] And Yehovah God called unto Adam, and said unto
him, Where art thou?
[10]
And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was
naked; and I hid myself.
[11] And he said, Who told thee that
thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof
I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
[12] And the man said, The woman whom
thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree,
and I did eat.
[13] And Yehovah God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
[14] And Yehovah God said unto the serpent, Because
thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of
the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
[15]
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her
seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise
his heel.
[16] Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow
and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth
children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
[17] And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the
voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee,
saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the
ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it
all the days of thy life;
[18]
Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
[19]
In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till
thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou
taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
[20] And Adam called his wife's name Eve; חַוָּה Chavvah - because she was the mother of all living.
[21] Unto Adam also and to his wife did Yehovah God make coats of
skins, and clothed them.
[22] And Yehovah God said, Behold, the man is become as
“one of Us”, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take
also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
[23] Therefore Yehovah God sent him forth from the garden of
Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
[24] So Yehovah God drove out the man; and Yehovah God placed at the east of the garden
of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned
every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Second instance:
Exod.15 [26] … If thou
wilt diligently hearken to the voice of Yehovah
thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his
commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon
thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am Yehovah
that healeth thee.
Recapitulation of the 10 Commandments
Third instance:
Deut.5
[1] And Moses called all Israel,
and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in
your ears this day, that ye may learn them, and keep,
and do them.
[2] Yehovah our God made a
covenant with us in Horeb.
[3] Yehovah made not this
covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive
this day.
[4] Yehovah talked with you
face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,
[5] (I stood between Yehovah
and you at that time, to shew you the work of Yehovah: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went
not up into the mount;) saying,
The 10 commandments
[6] I am Yehovah thy God, which
brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.[7] Thou shalt
have none other gods before me.
[8] Thou shalt not make thee
any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that
is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters
beneath the earth:[9] Thou shalt not bow down
thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I Yehovah thy
God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children
unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me,[10] And
shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and
keep my commandments.
[11] Thou shalt not take the
name of Yehovah thy God in vain: for Yehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
[12] Keep the sabbath day to
sanctify it, as Yehovah thy God hath commanded thee.[13] Six
days thou shalt labour, and
do all thy work:
[14] But the seventh day is the sabbath
of Yehovah thy God: in it thou shalt
not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor
thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is
within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as
thou.[15] And remember that thou wast
a servant in the land of Egypt, and that Yehovah thy
God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm:
therefore Yehovah thy God commanded thee to keep
the sabbath day.
[16] Honour thy father and thy
mother, as Yehovah thy God hath commanded thee; that
thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which
Yehovah thy God giveth
thee.
[17] Thou shalt not kill.
[18] Neither shalt thou commit
adultery.
[19] Neither shalt thou steal.
[20] Neither shalt thou bear
false witness against thy neighbour.
[21] Neither shalt thou desire
thy neighbour's wife,
neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's
house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or
any thing that is thy neighbour's.
[22] These words Yehovah spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst
of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and
he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them
unto me.
[23] And it came to pass, when ye heard the voice out of the midst of the darkness, (for the mountain did burn
with fire,) that ye came near unto me, even all the heads of your tribes, and
your elders;
[24] And ye said, Behold, Yehovah
our God hath shewed us his glory and his greatness,
and we have heard his voice out of
the midst of the fire: we have seen this day that God doth talk with man, and
he liveth.
[25] Now therefore why should we die? for
this great fire will consume us: if we
hear the voice of Yehovah our God any more, then
we shall die.
[26] For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God
speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and
lived?
[27] Go thou near, and hear all
that Yehovah our God shall say: and speak thou unto
us all that Yehovah our God shall speak unto thee;
and we will hear it, and do it.
[28] And Yehovah
heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me;
and Yehovah said unto me, I have heard the voice of
the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said
all that they have spoken.
[29] O that there were such an heart in them, that they
would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with
them, and with their children for ever!
[30] Go say to them,
Get you into your tents again.
[31] But as for thee, stand thou
here by me, and I will speak unto thee all the commandments, and the statutes,
and the judgments, which thou shalt teach them, that
they may do them in the land which I give them to possess it.
[32] Ye shall observe to do
therefore as Yehovah your God hath commanded you: ye
shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
[33] Ye shall walk in all the ways
which Yehovah your God hath commanded you, that ye
may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days
in the land which ye shall possess.
Fourth instance:
Deut.8 [11] Beware that thou forget not Yehovah
thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes,
which I command thee this day:
[12] Lest when thou
hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein;
[13] And when thy
herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and
all that thou hast is multiplied;
[14] Then thine heart be lifted up, and thou forget Yehovah thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land
of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
[15] Who led thee
through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and
scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water
out of the rock of flint;
[16] Who fed thee in
the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not, that he might humble
thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end;
[17] And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath
gotten me this wealth.
[18] But thou shalt remember Yehovah thy God:
for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
[19] And it shall be,
if thou do at all forget Yehovah thy God, and walk
after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this
day that ye shall surely perish.
[20] As the nations
which Yehovah destroyeth
before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the
voice of Yehovah your God. [20] As the
nations which Yehovah destroyeth
before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto
the voice of Yehovah your God.
A few more
instances:
Deut.13 [17] And there shall cleave nought
of the cursed thing to thine hand: that Yehovah may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and
multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;[18] When thou shalt
hearken to the voice of Yehovah thy God, to
keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is
right in the eyes of Yehovah thy God.
Deut.15 [5] Only if thou carefully hearken unto the voice of Yehovah thy God, to observe to do all these
commandments which I command thee this day.
Deut.27 [9] And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O
Israel; this day thou art become the people of Yehovah
thy God.[10]
Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of Yehovah thy God, and do his commandments and his
statutes, which I command thee this day.
Deut.28 - many Blessings for
obeying and many curses for disobeying:
[1] And it shall come to pass,
if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of
Yehovah thy God, to observe and to do all his
commandments which I command thee this day, that Yehovah
thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:[2]
And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Yehovah
thy God.
Deut.30
[1] And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come
upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither Yehovah thy God hath driven thee,
[2]
And shalt return unto Yehovah
thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all
that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
[3]
That then Yehovah thy God will turn thy captivity,
and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the
nations, whither Yehovah thy God hath scattered thee.
[4]
If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts
of heaven, from thence will Yehovah thy God gather
thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:
[5]
And Yehovah thy God will bring thee into the land
which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it;
and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
[6]
And Yehovah thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love Yehovah thy God with all thine
heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
[7]
And Yehovah thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that
hate thee, which persecuted thee.
[8] And thou shalt return and obey the voice of Yehovah, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.
[9] And Yehovah thy God will make
thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the
fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy
land, for good: for Yehovah will again rejoice over
thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:
[10]
If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of Yehovah
thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which
are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto Yehovah
thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
[11] For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is
not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
[12]
It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who
shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do
it?
[13] Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest
say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it
unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
[14] But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in
thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
[15] See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and
death and evil;
[16] In that I command thee this day to love Yehovah
thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and
his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply:
and Yehovah thy God shall bless thee in the land
whither thou goest to possess it.
[17] But if thine heart turn away, so
that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and
worship other gods, and serve them;
[18]
I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall
not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest
over Jordan to go to possess it.
[19]
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before
you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou
and thy seed may live:
[20]
That thou mayest love Yehovah
thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and
that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life,
and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in
the land which Yehovah sware
unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
A few instances in Psalms:
Pss.29
[3] The voice of Yehovah is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: Yehovah is upon many
waters.
[4] The voice of Yehovah is powerful; the voice of Yehovah is full of majesty.
[5] The voice of Yehovah breaketh the cedars;
yea, Yehovah breaketh the
cedars of Lebanon.
[7] The voice of Yehovah divideth the flames
of fire.
[8] The voice of Yehovah shaketh the
wilderness; Yehovah shaketh
the wilderness of Kadesh.
[9] The voice of Yehovah maketh the hinds to
calve, and discovereth the forests: and in his temple
doth every one speak of his glory.
Many instances
in the Prophets in obeying and disobeying the “Voice of Yehovah”
Only one
instance in the Gospels and letters, in Acts:
A
recapitulation of Torah by Stephen
Acts.7 [30] … forty years were expired, there appeared to
him in the wilderness of mount Sina an angel of Yehovah in a flame of fire in a bush.
[31] When Moses saw it, he wondered at the sight: and as he drew
near to behold it, the voice of Yehovah came unto him,
[32] Saying, I am the
God of thy fathers, the God of Abrham, and the God of
Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.
[33] Then said Yehovah to him, Put off
thy shoes from thy feet: for the place where thou standest
is holy ground.
[34] I have seen, I have seen the affliction of my people which
is in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning, and am come down to deliver them.
And now come, I will send thee into Egypt.
[35] This Moses whom
they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a
judge? the same did God send to be a ruler and a
deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
[36] He brought them
out, after that he had shewed wonders and signs in
the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
[37] This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel,
A prophet shall Yehovah your God raise up unto you of
your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.
[38] This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with
the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles
to give unto us:
[39] To whom our
fathers would not obey, but thrust him from them, and in their hearts turned
back again into Egypt,
[40] Saying unto
Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us
out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become
of him.
[41] And they made a
calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the
works of their own hands.
[42] Then God turned,
and gave them up to worship the host of heaven; as it is written in the book of
the prophets, O ye house of Israel, have ye offered to me slain beasts and
sacrifices by the space of forty years in the wilderness?
[43] Yea, ye took up
the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan,
figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.
[44] Our fathers had
the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto
Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion that he had seen.
[45] Which also our
fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the
Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our
fathers, unto the days of David;[46] Who found favour before God, and
desired to find a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.
[47] But Solomon built
him an house.
[48] Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in
temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
[49] Heaven is my
throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith Yehovah:
or what is the place of my rest?
[50] Hath not my hand
made all these things?
[51] Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do
always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.
[52] Which of the
prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed
before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers
and murderers:
[53] Who have received
the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.
[54] When they heard
these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their
teeth.
[55] But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up steadfastly
into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Yeshua standing
on the right hand of God,
[56] And said, Behold,
I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
[57] Then they cried
out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with one accord,
[58] And cast him out
of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a
young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
[59] And they stoned
Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Yeshua receive my spirit.
[60] And he kneeled
down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this
sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Like I said earlier, all the stories in scripture pertain to Obeying
and Disobeying God. We all know that this will go on until the end of time.
What will you choose?
As Moses says:
I call heaven and earth to record this day
against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live: That you may love Yehovah your God, and that you may obey his voice, and that
you may cleave unto him: for he is your life, and the length of your days…
