Types and shadows of Messiah Yeshua
Yeshua of Nazareth
Matt.2 [23] And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a
Nazarene.
Nazareth or Nazaret, a place in Israel
Nazareth = “the guarded one”
Yeshua - who as he was descended from Jesse's family, so by dwelling
at Nazareth, he would appear to be, and would be "called a Nazarene, or Netzer, the branch"; being an inhabitant of Natzareth, or Netzer, so called
from the multitude of plants and trees that grew there.
Isaiah
Chap. 11 verse 1,
where the Messiah is called the Branch (Heb., neh-tzer),
meaning the separated One, or “the Nazarene.”
Branch נֵצֶר
נֵצֶר nêtser - in the sense of greenness as a striking color; a shoot;
figuratively, a descendant: - branch.
נָצַר nâtsar - to guard, watch,
watch over, keep - A
primitive root; to guard, in a good sense, to protect
נצרי Christian
Are these
contradictory? Not at all when the Person came who unlocked the puzzle by the
course of events in His divinely ordained life.
He was born in
Bethlehem, as Micah said; soon after, He was taken to Egypt by Joseph and Mary,
from whence God “called” Him back to the Holy Land after the death of wicked
King Herod (Matthew Chap. 2 verses 13-21).
Matt.2 [1] Now
when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of
Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east
to Jerusalem,
When Joseph and Mary
came back to Israel with the Child Yeshua, they settled in Nazareth, the city
where the Lord was reared.16
In His ministry He
was called “Yeshua of Nazareth” (Luke Chap. 18 verse
37; Acts Chap. 2 verse 22).
Mic.5 [1] Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid
siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the
cheek.
[2] But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah,
though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he
come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been
from of old, from everlasting
Isn’t
it strange that, though He was born in Bethlehem, no one ever calls Him “Yeshua of Bethlehem,” and though He is called “Yeshua
of Nazareth,” everyone knows He was born in Bethlehem, not Nazareth!
Being
of the tribe of Judah, and born in Bethlehem, He was indeed a true Nazarene,” a
“separated one,” by living in Galilee instead of with his Judean brethren in
Judah!
Even
as Joseph of old also was separated (“Nazared”) from
his brethern by his exile for so many years in Egypt
(see Genesis Chap. 49 verse 26, where the word
“separate” comes from the Hebrew root nazar).
The
historical record of the life of Yeshua makes crystal clear these three so
called contradictory prophecies.
Isa.11 [1] And there shall come
forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
[2] And the spirit of Yehovah shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom
and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and
of the fear of Yehovah;
[3] And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of Yehovah:
and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the
hearing of his ears:
[4] But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with
equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of
his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
[5] And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness
the girdle of his reins.
[6] The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie
down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
and a little child shall lead them.
[7] And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down
together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
[8] And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned
child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
[9] They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my
holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yehovah, as the
waters cover the sea.
[10] And in that day there shall be a
root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the
Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Nazareth - The small town of Nazareth was located within Galilee
Isa.9 [1] Nevertheless the dimness shall not be
such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of
Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did
more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
[2] The people that walked in darkness have seen a great
light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the
light shined.
[3] Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy
before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they
divide the spoil.
[4] For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his
shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
[5] For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments
rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
[6] For unto us a child is
born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller,
The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
[7] Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the
throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment
and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The
zeal of Yehovah of hosts will perform this.

Num.6
[2]
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When either man or woman
shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Nazarite,
to separate themselves unto Yehovah:
[3] He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and
shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he
drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.
[4] All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of
the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.
[5] All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no rasor come upon his head: until the days be
fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto Yehovah,
he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.
[6] All the days that he separateth himself
unto Yehovah he shall come at no dead body.
and so on...

Judg.13[4]
Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat
not any unclean thing:
[5] For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no rasor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to
deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.
[6] Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came
unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very
terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:
[7] But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and
now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the
child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the
day of his death.
