A Day, but NO Atonement if you don't have the Messiah and His shed Blood
Rabbinical Judaism has tried to replace "the Blood Sacrifice" with fasting.
Judaism never talks about the "blood' that is needed on Yom Kippur, day of atonement.
I see "shadows" of Messiah
The Blood is mentioned 12 ( 3 ) times in Chapter 16 ( 7 ) of Lev. The word afflict in Hebrew is "anah" meaning abase, humble or repent and never as "fast" in the scriptures . The Hebrew word "tzum" means fast and is "Never" used in connection with the Day of Atonement .
The Blood of the sacrifice was to be the most important feature of the Day of Atonement. NOTHING can change this!
Nothing can be a substitute for the obligatory sacrifice that God gave Moses, which was a "pattern" , "a shadow" of Messiah.
Since the Temple was destroyed and the priesthood abolished, a proper Day of Atonement has been impossible to keep.
To whom shall we go?
Within a few years after Messiah's death on the tree and His Resurrection God permitted the Temple to be destroyed and the priesthood abolished. It had served it's purpose as "shadows of things to come". Yes, the temple and priesthood were "shadows of things to come". They "point" to the Messiah, the Great High Priest and the perfect Lamb of God, without blemish, who took away the sins of the world when He shed His Blood on the tree. Scripture says, we are the Temple of the Living God now. We are priests.
1Cor.3[ 16] Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
2Cor.6[ 16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
1Pet.2[ 9] But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood , an holy nation, a peculiar people ; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
------------
PS: If you would like to fast,, that is between you and the Lord. Don't go around telling everyone you are fasting.
Matt.6[ 16] Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
------------
Remember: On the Day of Atonement, the blood is used for the atonement for sin
Lev.16[ 18] And he shall go out unto the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat , and put it upon the horns of the altar round about.
[27] And the bullock for the sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth without the camp ; and they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
I see "shadows" of Messiah
There is only one way to know God and enjoy peace with Him through the forgiveness of sins, and that is believing in Yeshua the Messiah Whom the Day of Atonement "typified" and pointed to.
As the scriptures below illustrate:
Yom Kippur - day of atonement in the book of Hebrews
Heb.9[6] Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.[7] But into the second went the high priest alone once every year , not without blood , which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:[8] The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:[9] Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;[10] Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.[11] But Christ / Messiah being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;[12] Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us .[13] For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:[14] How much more shall the blood of Messiah / Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?[15] And for this cause He, Messiah is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.[16] For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.[17] For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.[18] Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.[19] For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,[20] Saying,( Exod. 24:8 ) This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.[21] Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.[22] And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. ( fasting is good, but the Day of Atonement requires the Blood! )
Exod.24[ 8] And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.
Heb.9 [23] It was therefore necessary that the "patterns" of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.[24] For Messiah,Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:[25] Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;[26] For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.[27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:[28] So Messiah,Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

[10] But
the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat
, shall be presented alive

is for himself, and shall make an atonement for himself, and for his house,
and shall kill the bullock of the sin offering which is for himself:[12] And
he shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the altar before
the LORD, and his hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it
within the vail:

Lev.16
[29] And this
shall be a statute for ever unto you: that in the seventh
month, on the tenth day of the month, ye shall afflict
your souls, and do no work at all, whether it be one of your own country, or
a stranger that sojourneth among you:
[31] It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you
Lev.16[21] And
Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat,
and confess over him all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and all
their transgressions in all their
sins, putting them upon the head of the goat, and shall
send him away by the hand of a fit man into the wilderness: [22] And the
goat shall

inhabited: and he shall let go the goat in the wilderness.
Isa.53[
4] Surely he Messiah hath
borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows
: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and
afflicted.[5] But He Messiah
was wounded for our transgressions,
He Messiah was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon Him Messiah; and with His stripes we are healed.[
6] All we like sheep have gone
astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the
LORD hath laid
on Him Messiah the iniquity of us all.
[8] He was taken
from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he
was cut off out of the land of the living:
for the transgression of my people was he
stricken.
[10] Yet it
pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when
thou shalt make His, Messiah soul an offering
for sin,[11
] He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied:
by His, knowledge
shall my righteous servant ( Messiah ) justify many; for He, Messiah shall
bear their iniquities.[
12] Therefore will I divide
Him Messiaha portion with the great, and He Messiah shall divide the spoil
with the strong; because He Messiah
hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered
with the transgressors; and HeMessiah
bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
2Cor.5[
21] For he ( Messiah ) hath
made him to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
1Pet.3[
18] For Christ /
Messiah also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the
unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to
death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
Gal.3[
13] Christ
/ Messiah hath redeemed us from the curse of the law
( curse of the Law was death ),
being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed
is every one that hangeth on a tree:
Deut.21[
22] And if a man have committed
a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him
on a tree:[
23] His body shall not remain all night
upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day;
( for he that is hanged is accursed of God; )
that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee
for an inheritance.

The Blood of the Messiah
propitiate : To conciliate, appease:
1John.2[2] And He Messiah is the
propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of
the whole world.
1John.4[10] Herein is love, not
that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent His Son ( the word, Messiah
) to be the propitiation for our sins.
Heb.9[28] So
Messiah / Christ was once offered to bear the
sins of many; and unto them
that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Heb.2[17] Wherefore in all things
it behoved Him, Yeshua to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be
a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God,
to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
1Cor.10[16]
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of
the blood of Messiah / Christ
? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body
of Christ?
Eph.2[13] But now in Christ Jesus
ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood
of Messiah / Christ.
Heb.9[14] How much more shall the
blood of Messiah / Christ, who
through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your
conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
1Pet.1[19] But with the precious
blood of Messiah / Christ, as

were yet sinners, Christ / Messiah died for us.
Rom.14[15] But if thy brother be
grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with
thy meat, for whom Messiah / Christ died

died?
Heb.1:[1] God, who at sundry times
and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
[2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed
heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; [3] Who being the brightness

by the word of his power, when He Messiah had by himself
purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the

Day of Atonement ( patterns, shadows of good
things to come )
Heb.10
Heb.10[1] For the law having a
shadow of good things to come
, and not the very image of the things, can never with
those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers
thereunto perfect.[2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because
that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
[3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every
year. [4] For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should
take away sins.
Heb.10[5] Wherefore when He cometh
into the world, He saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not,
Pss.40[6] Sacrifice and offering
thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering
hast thou not required. but a body hast thou prepared
me: ( verse 10, body of Yeshua, a person )
Heb.10[6] In burnt offerings and
sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.[7] Then said I, Lo, I come: in
the volume of the book it is written of me,
Pss.40[7] Then said I, Lo, I come
(in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Heb.10[8] Above when he said, Sacrifice
and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither
hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;[9] Then said he, Lo,
I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish
the second.[10] By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of
the body of Jesus Christ once for all.[11] And every priest standeth daily
ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take
away sins:[12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for
ever, sat down on the right hand of God;[13] From henceforth expecting till
his enemies be made his footstool.
Pss.110[1] The LORD said unto my
Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
Heb.10[14] For by one offering he
hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.[15] Whereof the Holy Ghost
also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,[16] This is the
covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will
put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;[17] And
their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb.8[10] For this is the covenant
that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord;
I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will
be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:[11] And they shall not
teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the
Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.[12] For I will
be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will
I remember no more.
Jer.31[31] Behold, the days come,
saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and
with the house of Judah:[32] Not according to the covenant that I made with
their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of
the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband
unto them, saith the LORD:[33] But this shall be the covenant that I will make
with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law
in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God,
and they shall be my people.[34] And they shall teach no more every man his
neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall
all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD;
for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
back to Hebrews 10
Heb.10[18] Now where remission of
these is, there is no more offering for sin.[19] Having therefore, brethren,
boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Yeshua
/ Jesus,[20] By a new and living way, which He hath
consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say,
his flesh; [21] And having an high priest over the
house of God;[22] Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed
with pure water. [23] Let us
hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful
that promised;) [24] And let
us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:[
25] Not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and
so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

[2] And the LORD said unto Moses,
Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times into the holy place
within the vail before the mercy seat, which is upon the ark; that he die not:
for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy seat.
[3] Thus shall Aaron come into
the holy place: with a young bullock for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt
offering.
[4] He shall put on the holy
linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall
be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired:
these are holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so
put them on.
[5] And he shall take of the
congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering,
and one ram for a burnt offering.
[6] And Aaron shall offer his
bullock of the sin offering, which is for himself, and make an atonement for
himself, and for his house.
Heb.9[1] Then verily the first
covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.[2]
For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and
the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
[3] And after the
second veil, the tabernacle which is called the
Holiest of all;[4] Which had the
golden "censer",
and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein
was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables
of the covenant;[5] And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat;
of which we cannot now speak particularly.[6] Now when these things were thus
ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing
the service of God.[7] But into the second went the
high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for
himself, and for the errors of the people:[8] The Holy
Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made
manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:[9] Which was a figure
for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices,
that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the
conscience;[10] Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings,
and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation
[16] And he shall make an atonement
for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and
because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the
tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their
uncleanness.
[17] And there shall be no man
in the tabernacle of the congregation when he goeth in to make an atonement
in the holy place, until he come out, and have made an atonement for himself,
and for his household, and for all the congregation of Israel.
[18] And he shall go out unto
the altar that is before the LORD, and make an atonement for it; and shall
take of the blood of the bullock, and of the blood of the goat, and put it
upon the horns of the altar round about.
[19] And he shall sprinkle of
the blood upon it with his finger seven times, and cleanse it, and hallow it
from the uncleanness of the children of Israel.
[21] And Aaron shall lay both
his hands upon the head of the live goat, and
confess over him all the iniquities
of the children of Israel, and all
their transgressions in all their sins, putting them upon the head of the goat
, and shall send him away by the hand of a fit man
into the wilderness:
[22] And the goat shall bear
upon him all their iniquities unto a land not inhabited: and he shall let go
the goat in the wilderness.
[2] And I John saw the holy
city, new Jerusalem, coming
down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
[3] And I heard a great voice
out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God
is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they
shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
[23]
And Aaron shall come into the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall put
off the linen garments, which he put on when he went into the holy place, and
shall leave them there:
[24] And he shall wash his flesh
with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth, and
offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an
atonement for himself, and for the people.
[25] And the fat of the sin
offering shall he burn upon the altar.
[27] And the bullock for the
sin offering, and the goat for the sin offering, whose blood was brought in
to make atonement in the holy place, shall one carry forth
without the camp; and
they shall burn in the fire their skins, and their flesh, and their dung.
[28]
And he that burneth them shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water,
and afterward he shall come into the camp.
[30] For on that day shall the
priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from
all your sins before the LORD.
[27] But a certain fearful looking
for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
[28] He that despised Moses'
law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
[29] Of
how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy
, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath
counted the blood of the covenant
, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and
hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
[31] It is a fearful thing to
fall into the hands of the living God.
[32] But call to remembrance
the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight
of afflictions;
[33] Partly, whilst ye were
made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye
became companions of them that were so used.
[34] For ye had compassion of
me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves
that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
[35] Cast not away therefore
your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
[36] For ye have need of patience,
that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
[37] For yet a little while,
and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
[38] Now the just shall live
by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
[39] But we are not of them
who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the
soul.
