The new body, the resurrection
Dan.12
[2] And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some
to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt
.
Job.19[
25] For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he
shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:[26] And though after my skin
worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:[27
] Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and
not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
Pss.49[
15] But
God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he
shall receive me. Selah.
Hos.13[
14] I will ransom them from
the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death:
O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction:
repentance shall be hid from mine eyes.
Pss.73[
24] Thou shalt guide me with
thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
Isa.25[
8] He will
swallow up death in victory; and the
Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people
shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
Isa.26[
19] Thy
dead men shall live, together
with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust:
for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and
the earth shall cast out the dead.
Ezek.37[1
] The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me
out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which
was full of bones,[2] And caused
me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open
valley; and, lo, they were very dry.
Job.14[
7] For there is hope of a tree,
if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof
will not cease.[8] Though the
root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;[
9] Yet
through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.
[10]
But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is
he?[11] As the waters fail from
the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:[12
] So man lieth down, and riseth not:
till the heavens be no more,
they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep
.[13
] O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest
keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set
time, and remember me![14] If a man die, shall he live
again? all the days of my appointed time will I
wait, till my change come.
Pss.16[
10] For
thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One
to see corruption.
Acts.2[23
] Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and
foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and
slain:
Acts.23[
8] For the
Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel,
nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
John.5[
24] Verily, verily, I say unto
you, He that heareth my word
, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and
shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
[47] But if
ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my
words?
John.6[
39] And this is the Father's
will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing,
but should raise it up again at the last day
. [40] And
this is the will of him that sent me, that every one
which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life
: and I will raise him up at the
last day.
[44] No man
can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and
I will raise him up at the last day.
[54] Whoso eateth
my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and
I will raise him up at the last day
.
John.11[
20] Then Martha, as soon as
she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the
house.[21] Then said Martha
unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.[
22] But I know, that even now,
whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.[
23] Jesus saith unto her,
Thy brother shall rise again.[
24] Martha saith unto him,
I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection
at the last day.[25
] Jesus said unto her, I am the
resurrection, and the life:
he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:[26] And whosoever
liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
[27] She
saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God,
which should come into the world.
1Cor.15[
51] Behold, I shew you
a mystery;
We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
[52] In
a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall
sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible
, and we shall be changed
.[53
] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal
must put on immortality.[54]
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall
have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written,
Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Thes.4[
16] For the Lord himself shall
descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with
the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise
first:[17
] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever
be with the Lord.
Abraham had such faith that he accounted "that
God was able to raise him
[his son, Isaac] from the dead
Heb.11[
19] Accounting
that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead
; from whence also he received him in a figure.
Heb.11[
35] Women received their dead
raised to life again:
Rev.20[
5] But the rest of the dead
lived not again until the thousand years were finished.
This is the first resurrection. [
6] Blessed and holy is he that
hath part in the first resurrection:
on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests
of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

[15] As for me,
I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when
I awake, with thy likeness.
[3] And he said unto me, Son
of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest.[
4] Again he said unto me,
Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye
dry bones, hear the word of the LORD.[5] Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these
bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:
[6]
And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover
you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know
that I am the LORD.[7] So I prophesied as I was commanded:
and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones
came together, bone to his bone.[8] And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the
flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no
breath in them.[9] Then said
he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind,
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon
these slain, that they may live.[
10] So I prophesied as he commanded
me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their
feet, an exceeding great army.[11
] Then he said unto me, Son of man, these
bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say,
Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.[
12] Therefore prophesy and say
unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people,
I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring
you into the land of Israel.[
13] And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when
I have opened your graves
, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves,
[14] And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live,
and I shall place you in your
own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken
it, and performed it, saith the LORD.
[24] Whom God hath raised up,
having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should
be holden of it.[25] For David
speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is
on my right hand, that I should not be moved:[26] Therefore
did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall
rest in hope:[27] Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt
thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.[
28] Thou hast made known to
me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.[
29] Men and brethren, let me
freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried,
and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.[30
] Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn
with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh,
he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;[31
] He seeing this before spake
of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither
his flesh did see corruption.[
32] This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all
are witnesses.[33] Therefore
being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the
promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.[
34] For David is not ascended
into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou
on my right hand,[35] Until
I make thy foes thy footstool.[36
] Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God
hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
