All welcome

 Shabbat Shalom

 שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Let’s pray

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s

Today is August 9, 2014

August -- Augustus Caesar's month

Latin Augustus "Augustus"
Latin Augustus mensis "month of Augustus"
Latin
sextilis mensis "sixth month"

Sextilis had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

Augustus Caesar clarified and completed the calendar reform of Julius Caesar. In the process, he also renamed this month after himself.

God has His own calendar

We are now in the fifth month of God, 12th day. The fifth month has no biblical name in scripture.

Judaism calls this month "AV", not a good thing.

The name is Babylonian in origin and appeared in the Talmud around the 3rd century. This name is not in the Scriptures

The name "Av", like many of the other names of months in the Jewish religious calendar, came with the Jews that returned to the Land of Israel from their exile in Babylon

Today's Topic

A review

We need to be Restorers of God's Feasts and Sabbaths

I know this is a little early in the season; however I thought it wise to go over the Sabbaths, fall feasts and holy days of God.

For 2014, here is what we can determine at this point in time, of course, we'll have to wait to hear when the new moon was cited in Israel.

Our fall 2014 approximate dates are listed below:

**Remember all dates start the evening before

The 7th month, ha Ethanim

4 times we will have 2 Sabbaths in a row

A memorial of blowing of trumpets, a Sabbath, Friday - Sept. 26

The Day of Atonement- Sunday Oct. 5 - a Sabbath

Feast of Tabernacles - Oct. 10 through 17 on Fridays - the 10 and 17 are both Sabbaths

----------------

God’s Feasts

Lev.23

[1] And Yehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
[2] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of
Yehovah, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

Sabbath
[3] Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the
sabbath of Yehovah in all your dwellings.

[4] These are the feasts of Yehovah, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

-------------------------

Scripture says ha Ethanim is the name of the 7th month

1 Kings 8:2

1 Kgs. 8 [2] And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month ha Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

Beware of Judaism and some messianics that say Tishri.

That word is not mentioned even once in TaNaKh.

It is the 7th month, not New Year nor when the world was created, nor Adam’s birthday as Judaism purports.

-------------

Shadows of “things to come" - future tense

The feasts and holydays of the Yehovah are all about the Messiah

Psalms 81:3: Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

The 7th month, (ha) Ethanim 1 - New Moon, Sabbath, and holyday

The Memorial of Blowing of Trumpets

-----------

A Shadow of things to come

A “memorial”, an “ordinance”, a “Sabbath”, a “Feast”, a “shadow” of Messiah’s second coming in the 7th month

http://oneinmessiah.net/col216b.asf

Colossians 2:16: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday , or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: 17: Which are a shadow of "things to come" (future tense); but the body is of Messiah / Christ.

Judge - ρινω krino: to try to condemn, to separate, put asunder, to pick out, to be of opinion, judge, to pronounce an opinion concerning right and wrong, to contend, to dispute.

Holyday - ορτη heorte -heh-or-tay' - a festival: - feast, holyday.

New moon - νουμηνία noumēnia - noo-may-nee'-ah - the new moon

Meat - βρῶσις brōsis - that which is eaten, clean food

Sabbath days - sabbaton - σάββατον - sab'-bat-on - Of Hebrew origin; the Sabbath (that is, Shabbath), or day of weekly repose from secular avocations - sabbath days: sabbath (days) in feasts.

Shadow - κια skia : shadow, an image cast by an object and representing the form of that object, a sketch, outline

 ----------------

This is how simple the Sabbath is:

Exod. 20

[8] Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

[9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

[10] But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yehovah thy God:

in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

[11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

 ------------

Deut. 5

[12] Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as Yehovah thy God hath commanded thee.
[13] Six days thou
shalt labour, and do all thy work:
[14] But the seventh day is the
sabbath of Yehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.

[15] And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that Yehovah thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore Yehovah thy God commanded thee to keep the Sabbath day.
------------

Lev. 23

[3] Six days shall work be done:

but

the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation;

ye shall do no work therein:

it is the Sabbath of Yehovah in all your dwellings.

--------

Isa. 58 [13] If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of Yehovah, honourable; and shalt honour him,

1 - not doing thine own ways,

2 - nor finding thine own pleasure,

3 - nor speaking thine own words:

[14] Then shalt thou delight thyself in Yehovah; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of Yehovah hath spoken it.

------------------------

Buying and selling is evil on the Sabbath

Neh. 13 [16] There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.

[17] Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, what evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?

[28] And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before Yehovah your God.

That was my explanation of the 7 extra Sabbaths; please go over it as many times as you need.

----------------

Remember, these holydays were observed 1000's of years later in the Gospels and Letters. After Yeshua and all the Apostles die it seems many of God’s observances and memorials were deleted.

-------------

We do these feasts and holydays in memorial the best we understand
