Shabbat Shalom

שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s

Today is November 10, 2018 - in the 21 Century

November -- the nineth month - now it is the 11th month

Middle English Novembre
Latin November
Latin
Novembris mensis "nineth month"

Novembris had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 30 days long.

Yehovah has His own calendar:

We are now in the ninth month called Chislev    כִסְלֵו

Zech.7 [1] And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of Yehovah came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chisleu;

Today’s Topic:

Be ye separate (from sinners), saith Yehovah

Being separate in many things, makes us who we are today.

This is an important Godly attribute

First, some Hebrew words:

פָּלָה palah

Meaning:  1) to be distinct, marked out, be separated; be distinguished, to be set apart

בָּדַל badal

Meaning:  1) to divide, to make a distinction, difference, to divide into parts, to separate oneself from, to withdraw from, to separate oneself unto, to be excluded

פָּרַד parad

Meaning:   about the same as above

נָזַר nazar

Meaning:  1) to dedicate, consecrate, separate, to dedicate oneself, devote oneself, to keep sacredly separate, to live as a Nazarite

Let’s read:

Exod.33 [16] For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

Lev.15 [31] Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness; that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is among them.

Lev.20 [24] But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am Yehovah your God, which have separated you from other people.[25] Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.

Lev.22 [1] And Yehovah spake unto Moses, saying,
[
2] Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am Yehovah.
[
3] Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto Yehovah, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am Yehovah.

Lev. 20 [24] But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am Yehovah your God, which have separated you from other people.

Num.8 [14] Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.

Deut.7 [1] When Yehovah thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
[
2] And when Yehovah thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
[
3] Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
[
4] For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of Yehovah be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
[
5] But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
[
6] For thou art an holy people unto Yehovah thy God: Yehovah thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

Deut.10 [8] At that time Yehovah separated the tribe of Levi, to bear the ark of the covenant of Yehovah, to stand before Yehovah to minister unto him, and to bless in his name, unto this day.

Deut.19 [2] Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which Yehovah thy God giveth thee to possess it.

Deut.32 [8] When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when He separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. [9] For Yehovah's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

Deut.33 [1] And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

[13] And of Joseph he said, Blessed of Yehovah be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath,
[14] And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon,
[15] And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills,
[16] And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.
[17] His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

Josh.16 [9] And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages.

1Kgs.8 Solomon’s prayer [53] For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord Yehovah.

1Chr.12[1] Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war.
[2] They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul's brethren of Benjamin.

[8] And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;

1Chr.23 [13] The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before Yehovah, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.

1Chr.25 [1] Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: and the number of the workmen according to their service was:

Ezra.6 [21] And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek Yehovah God of Israel, did eat,

Ezra.9 [1] Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. [2] For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.

Ezra.10 [1] Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore.

[3] Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

[7] And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the children of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem;[8] And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away. [9] Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.
[10] And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.[
11] Now therefore make confession unto Yehovah God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives. [11] Now therefore make confession unto Yehovah God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.
[12] Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.
[13] But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.
[14] Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.
[15] Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.[
16] And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

Neh.9 [2] And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers. [3] And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of Yehovah their God one fourth part of the day; and another fourth part they confessed, and worshipped Yehovah their God.

Neh.10 [28] And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;

Neh.13 [1] On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;
[2] Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.
[3] Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.

Some proverbs:

Prov.16 [28] A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

Prov.17 [9] He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.

Prov.18 [1] Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

Prov.19[4] Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.

The Prophets

Isa.56 [1] Thus saith Yehovah, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
[2] Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
[3] Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to Yehovah, speak, saying, Yehovah hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

[4] For thus saith Yehovah unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
[5] Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

[6] Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to Yehovah, to serve him, and to love the name of Yehovah, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
[7] Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

Isa.59 [1] Behold, Yehovah's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:[2] But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Ezek.14 [1] Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.
[2] And the word of Yehovah came unto me, saying,
[3] Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?
[4] Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith Yehovah Yehovah; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I Yehovah will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
[5] That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

[6] Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith Yehovah Yehovah; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
[7] For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I Yehovah will answer him by myself:
[8] And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am Yehovah.
[9] And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I Yehovah have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
[10] And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;
[11] That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith Yehovah Yehovah.

Hos.4 [6] My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

[14] I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

Hos.9 …separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

Now a few Gospels and letters:

Matt.25 - Messiah Yeshua

[31] When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

[32] And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

[34] Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
[35] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
[36] Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
[37] Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
[38] When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
[39] Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
[40] And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

[41] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
[42] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
[43] I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
[44] Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
[45] Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
[46] And these shall go away into everlasting punishment:

but the righteous into life eternal.

Luke.6 [22] Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. [23] Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

Rom.1 [1] Paul, a servant of Yeshua the Messiah, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, [2] (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
[3] Concerning his Son Yeshua the Messiah our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
[4] And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
[5] By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
[6] Among whom are ye also the called of Yeshua the Messiah:
[7] To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and Yehovah Yeshua the Messiah.

Rom.8 [35] Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? [36] As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
[37] Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
[38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
[39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Messiah Yeshua our Lord.

2Cor.6 [14] Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
[15] And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
[16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
[17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith Yehovah, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
[18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith Yehovah Almighty.

Heb.7 [26] Messiah Yeshua -  For such an high priest (He) became (for) us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; [27] Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when He offered up Himself.

Jude [17] But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah;[18] How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. [19] These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

[20] But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
[21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah unto eternal life.
[22] And of some have compassion, making a difference:
[23] And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
[24] Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
[25] To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

2John.1 [10] If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: [11] For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Rom.16 [17] Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Eph.5 [11] And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

2Thes.3 [14] And if any man  (a brother) obey not our word by this epistle , note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

[15] Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

So we can see you can be separated unto good or evil, one or the other
