We read from law and the prophets every Sabbath like they did in the Book of Acts.

Acts 13 [15] And after the reading of the law and the prophets…

Luke 24 [44] And Yeshua said unto them, These are the words which I spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

The Word of God - Torah, Prophets and Writings (psalms)

Ta Na Kk is an acronym for:

T = Torah (law, teachings) - first 5 books of Moses

N = Navi' eem or prophets (pl. sounds like - Na vi eem)

K = Ke'tuvim or writings (psalms etc.)

At this point, there were neither gospels nor letters.

In this study, I present a small list of questions that all believers in Messiah Yeshua / Jesus should be able to answer.

If you learn these questions and can answer them scripturally, you will know more scripture than most pseudo Christians and pastors.

What is sin?

Where are the Ten Commandments located in scriptures?

What are the Ten Commandments?

What is sin?

1 John, chapter 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Going around the commandments:

Romans 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

11: For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid . Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Is the leader of you congregation called rabbi or (heavenly) father?

Matt.23

[3] All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

[5] But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

Does God have His own calendar?

God's Calendar as scripture states:

1. Nissan, Est. 3:7 - Ha Aviv , Exodus 12:2 and Exodus 13:4 - in English, scripture calls it Abib

2. Ziv - 1 Kings 6:1 calls it Zif - Not called Iyyar as Judaism states

3. Sivan - Esther 8:9

4. No name - Tammuz is not the name of the 4th month as Judaism states - That is a false God

5. No name - Av is not in the bible - This is Not the name of the 5th month as Judaism states

6. - Elul is the name of the 6th month

Elul seems like it is the name of the sixth month by the two verses below:

Neh.6 [15] So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

Neh.7 [73] So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

7. ha Ethanim - 1 Kings 8:2 - calls it Ethanim

Tishrei is not in scripture and is wrong name as Judaism and some messanics states

8. Bool - 1 Kings 6:38 - In English, scripture calls it Bul - Not called Cheshvan or Mar Cheshvan as Judaism states

9. Chislev - Zach 7:1 - in English, scripture calls it Chisleu  

10 Teveth - Esther 2:16 - in English, scripture calls it Tebeth

11. Shevat - Zach 1:7 - in English, scripture calls it Sebat

12. Adar - Esther 3:7

Deut.4 [13] And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

What are the Ten Commandments?

Exod.20

1 - And God spake all these words, saying, I am Yehovah thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

2 - Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Yehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

3 - Thou shalt not take the name of Yehovah thy God in vain; for Yehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

4 - Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yehovah thy God : in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

5 - Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which Yehovah thy God giveth thee.

6 - Thou shalt not kill – murder

1 John 3 [15] Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

7 - Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Matt. 5 [27] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
[28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

8 - Thou shalt not steal.

9 - Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

10 - Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Matt.22 Yeshua - Jesus said:

 [36] Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

[37] Yeshua - Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love Yehovah thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

[38] This is the first and great commandment.

[39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

[40] On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

 

1 John 2[4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Rev.21 [8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars , shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

John.14: 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John.15 [10] If ye keep my commandments , ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

Ecclesiastes (Qoheleth), Chapter 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14: For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

What is grace? Favor, sometimes undeserved, kindness, mercy

Gen.6 [8] But Noah found grace in the eyes of Yehovah.

Eph.2 [5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Messiah, (by grace ye are saved;)

[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift (sacrifice) of God:

Dose God love everyone, sinners, unrighteous?  No

Pss.5 [5] The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: God hates all workers of iniquity.

Gal.5 [19] Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
[20] Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
[21] Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

1Cor.6 [9] Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?

Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
[10] Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

You can lose your grace

Heb.10 [29] Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Heb.12 [15] Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Are the commandments applicable for today? (yes 2016 and "always")

Deuteronomy, chapter 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always , that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!

Deuteronomy, chapter 11:1 Therefore thou shalt love Yehovah thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, always.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

What is ignorant and willful, presumptuous sin?

Here are some examples of presumptuous and ignorant sin

Exodus 21:14 But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

Numbers 15:30 But the soul that doeth ought presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth Yehovah; and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

Deuteronomy 1:43 So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of Yehovah, and went presumptuously up into the hill.

Deuteronomy 17:12 And the man that will do presumptuously , and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before Yehovah thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel.

Deuteronomy 17:13 And all the people shall hear, and fear, and do no more presumptuously .

Deuteronomy 18:22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of Yehovah, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which Yehovah hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. 31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Numbers 15:28 And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before Yehovah, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.

Deuteronomy 19:4 And this is the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past;

Leviticus 4:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of Yehovah concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them:

Leviticus 4:13 And if the whole congregation of Israel sin through ignorance, and the thing be hid from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done somewhat against any of the commandments of Yehovah concerning things which should not be done, and are guilty;

Leviticus 4:22 When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of Yehovah his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;

Leviticus 4:27 And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of Yehovah concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty;

Leviticus 5:15 If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance , in the holy things of Yehovah; then he shall bring for his trespass unto Yehovah a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering:

Leviticus 5:18 And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not, and it shall be forgiven him.

Numbers 15:24 Then it shall be, if ought be committed by ignorance without the knowledge of the congregation, that all the congregation shall offer one young bullock for a burnt offering, for a sweet savour unto Yehovah, with his meat offering, and his drink offering, according to the manner, and one kid of the goats for a sin offering.

Numbers 15:25 And the priest shall make an atonement for all the congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them; for it is ignorance : and they shall bring their offering, a sacrifice made by fire unto Yehovah, and their sin offering before Yehovah, for their ignorance :

Numbers 15:26 And it shall be forgiven all the congregation of the children of Israel, and the stranger that sojourneth among them; seeing all the people were in ignorance .

Numbers 15:27 And if any soul sin through ignorance, then he shall bring a she goat of the first year for a sin offering.

Numbers 15:28 And the priest shall make an atonement for the soul that sinneth ignorantly, when he sinneth by ignorance before Yehovah, to make an atonement for him; and it shall be forgiven him.

Numbers 15:29 Ye shall have one law for him that sinneth through ignorance , both for him that is born among the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them.

Acts 3:17 And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.

Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

1Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance…

What is our righteousness?

Deuteronomy 6:25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before Yehovah our God, as he hath commanded

Be perfect?

The world has implanted in our minds and consciousness through advertisements on television, videos, DVDs, CDs and other media the meaning of the word perfect.

We always hear about the perfect weight, shape, smile, image etc.

We need to look into the word of God and see through the scriptures the meaning of the word perfect.

A few examples of this would be:

1 - The world says be sexy, God says be holy. (Leviticus 19:2 ...Ye shall be holy: for I Yehovah your God am holy.)

2 - The world says, no one's perfect, God says be perfect as My Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48)

3 - The world says, everyone sins, Yeshua / Jesus say, "Go and sin no more". (John 8:11: ... go, and sin no more).

A simple understanding of being perfect is examining yourselves if you are keeping the commandments. You know which ones you are keeping and which ones you are not keeping.

In very simple terms, you are either doing something or you are not; yes that simple, yes or no, 0 or 1, on or off.

You might need to make a few adjustments in your life.

Paul says:

2 Corinthians, chapter 13:5: Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Yeshua the Messiah /Jesus Messiah is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Deuteronomy 8:2 And thou shalt remember all the way which Yehovah thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments , or no.

***Serving God is not a guessing game.

 We have no excuse not to know. We have God's Word as a study guide. God gave us one life span and one Book and there will be a test!

Deuteronomy 18:13 Thou shalt be perfect with Yehovah thy God.

1 Kings 8:61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with Yehovah our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

Matthew 19:21Yeshua said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect , go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

2Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

2Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect throughly furnished unto all good works.

James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Remember:

Paul says again,

1 Thessalonians, chapter 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

2 Timothy, chapter 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God , a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Colossians, chapter 4:6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Colossians, chapter 3:16: Let the word of Messiah dwell in you richly in all wisdom;

teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

2 Peter, chapter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Yeshua the  Messiah. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Rom.12 [ 2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

What is love?

Is it Kisses, hugs, ice cream, cake and cookies? Sounds nice...but John says: 2 John, chapter 1:6:

And this is love, that we walk after His Commandments. This is the commandment, that, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

What does born again mean?

When we are born again, we are to renounce the old Man. We should not bring over to the new man the old traditions, feasts or anything from the past life of sin.

We are to be first babes in Messiah, 1Pet.2[2] As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.

When you are born again, you have to realize as a gentile, you are grafted into the natural branches, true believers, and all of us are connected to Messiah Yeshua who is the VINE.

You are now equal to those who received and keep God's Commandments.

 We are all one in Messiah.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Messiah, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Ephesians 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man , so making peace;

Ephesians 4:24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Colossians 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

Romans 6: 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

Colossians 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

What was the original meaning of the word Christian?

Remember, there were neither Protestants before 1500 AD nor Catholics at the time of Messiah Yeshua.

Messiah - מְשִיחַ

The English word Christian below is Messiah followers, neither Protestants nor Catholics.

Messiah followers: מְשִׁיחִ י מְשִׁיחִיִּים

Acts 11 [26] And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Acts 26 [28] Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.

1Pet.4 [16] Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

What is the meaning of the word church?

εκκλησια ekklesia - ek-klay-see'-ah

To God - A calling out: a popular meeting, especially of believers in Messiah Yeshua on earth or saints in heaven or both - assembly, church.

1 - An assembly of the people convened for worship in a religious meeting, those who are united into one body.

2 - The whole body of believers scattered throughout the earth.

What is the new covenant?

Who was the new covenant given to?

Heb. 8:8 -12: For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Do you need to "Fear Yehovah always?

Proverbs, chapter 28 :14: Happy is the man that feareth always : but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

Job, chapter 28:28: And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.

Deuteronomy, chapter 4:10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before Yehovah thy God in Horeb, when Yehovah said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Deuteronomy, chapter 5 :29: O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always , that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

Deuteronomy, chapter 6:24: And Yehovah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Yehovah our God, for our good always , that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.

Deuteronomy, chapter 6:2: That thou mightest fear Yehovah thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.

Deuteronomy, chapter 14 :23: And thou shalt eat before Yehovah thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear Yehovah thy God always.

Deuteronomy, chapter 17 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear Yehovah his God , to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:

Ecclesiastes (Qoheleth), Chapter 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14: For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

The Sabbath is the 4th Commandment of the covenant given to us at Mount Sinai in the 3rd month, Sivan

[11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The Sabbath is a "holy convocation, a miqra kodesh"

מקרא  miqra: convocation, convoking, reading, a calling together, sacred assembly, something called out, that is, a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal

קדשׁ  kodesh: a sacred place or thing; consecrated, dedicated, hallowed, holiness, saint, sanctuary, apartness, sacredness, separateness, apartness, sacredness, holiness

Buying and selling is evil on the Sabbath

Neh. 13 [16] There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the Sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.

[17] Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, what evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the Sabbath day?

The first day is mentioned only 2 times when they met for certain events in Acts and the letter to the Corinthians

It never says the 1st day replaced the 7th day as Sabbath

It never says the 1st day is a Commandment or a rest

Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

1 Corinthians 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Why doesn’t any pseudo Christian ever talk about the 60 times in the Gospels and letters it uses the word Sabbath!
