Adar אֲדָר = “glorious”

Today’s topic:

Choices, decisions we make

 

Our lives are full of choices.

 

We choose:

What school to attend

What job, business or career to have

What bank, food mart, gas station

What travels to go on

What religion to be a part of

What to eat

Who to marry

Who to associate with

Medical choice

What house, apartment, city, state to reside in.

What vehicle

What clothing to wear

What hobbies to have

What recreational activities to participate in

And all the rest I did not list -   J

The scriptures are full of choices people have made, from the time of Adam and Eve, Noah, Samuel, Kings, Judges, the Prophets and all the writings.

 

We see the consequences that we are left with.

The Scriptures have many examples of what to do and not to do.

 

Again choices we must decide.

 

John_13:15  For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

 

1Ti_4:12  Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

 

Heb_4:11  Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

 

1Pe 2:21  For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22  Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23  Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

 

Jude 1:7  Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

 

1Co_10:11  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

All choices and decisions we make have consequences, some good and some bad.

 

The choices we made in the past led us to where we are today whether you like it or not, know it or don’t know.

 

We all can say at this time: If only we had the wisdom of an older person when we were younger to decide, choose.

 

Parents were supposed to help with our decisions, choices.

 

Sad to say, most families are without the God of Israel and His Words, the scriptures.

 

The family unit is just about gone. No longer two parents.

 

In these days, one parent, mostly the mother is left who works and tries to raise the children. Most fathers are gone.

 

In these days two females or two males raise the kids.   L

 

Most children are left to daycare centers all day, too many children, no discipline; kids are left to decide, make choices on their own.

 

I hear in the news, kids are threatening the teachers in schools which is a bid problem. Drugs, alcohol, peer pressure, bullies, vulgar language, sexual activities and the rest are always there to help kids make the wrong choices.

 

Some websites, television shows, magazines don’t help people in the choices of how to dress, talk and carry themselves.

 

 I wonder what guidance counselors are doing in schools, there are to help.

 

Sometimes you may be talked into a choice, pressured or left with no other option. Ask counsel.

 

However you made the choice, there are still ramifications, consequences which we will have to deal with.

 

Godly counsel may help in your decisions, choices.

 

Soon you will have to choose a new president.

 

Look up counsel in the scriptures, there are many verses to help you decide, choose.

 

Here are a few:

 

Exo_18:19  Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:

 

Jdg_18:5  And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

 

Pro_11:14  Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

 

Pro_12:15  The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

 

Pro_15:22  Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

 

Pro_19:20  Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.

 

Pro_20:18  Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

 

Pro_24:6  For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.

 

Pro_27:9  Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.

 

Ecc_8:2  I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God.

There are so many verses where Yehovah chooses.

 

Here are a few:

 

Num_16:5  And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow Yehovah will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.

 

Deu_7:6  For thou art an holy people unto Yehovah thy God: Yehovah thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.

 

Deu_12:21  If the place which Yehovah thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which Yehovah hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

 

Deu_14:2  For thou art an holy people unto Yehovah thy God, and Yehovah hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.

 

Deu_16:11  And thou shalt rejoice before Yehovah thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which Yehovah thy God hath chosen to place his name there.

 

Deu_18:5  For Yehovah thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of Yehovah, him and his sons for ever.

 

Deu_21:5  And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them Yehovah thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of Yehovah; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:

 

1Ki_11:32  (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

 

1Ki_11:36  And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

 

1Ch_15:2  Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath Yehovah chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever.

 

1Ch_28:5  And of all my sons, (for Yehovah hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of Yehovah over Israel

 

2Ch_6:6  But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

 

Isa_58:5  Is it such a fast that I have chosen?

 

The more I looked in the scriptures; I see everything is selected, chosen.

choose heaven

בָּחַר  -  bâchar -A primitive root; properly to try, that is, (by implication) select: - acceptable, appoint, choose (choice),  join

 

Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

 

 

Deu_30:19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

20  That thou mayest love Yehovah thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which Yehovah sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

 

Jos_24:15  And if it seem evil unto you to serve Yehovah, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yehovah.

22  And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you Yehovah, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

 

Jdg 10:13  Yet ye have forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more. 14  Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.

 

1Sa_8:18  And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and Yehovah will not hear you in that day.

 

1Sa_12:13  Now therefore behold the king whom ye have chosen, and whom ye have desired! and, behold, Yehovah hath set a king over you.

 

Exo 17:9  And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.

 

2Sa 24:10  And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto Yehovah, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O YEHOVAH, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

11  For when David was up in the morning, the word of Yehovah came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,

12  Go and say unto David, Thus saith Yehovah, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.

13  So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

14  And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let us fall now into the hand of Yehovah; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man.

15  So Yehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people from Dan even to Beersheba seventy thousand men.

 

1Ki 18:21  And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if Yehovah be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

 

Psa_25:12  What man is he that feareth Yehovah? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

 

Psa_119:30  I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.

 

Psa_119:173  Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts

 

Pro_16:16  How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

 

Pro_22:1  A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

 

 

Pro 1:23  Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

 

Pro 1:24  Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

 

Pro 1:25  But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

 

Pro 1:26  I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

 

Pro 1:27  When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

 

Pro 1:28  Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

 

Pro 1:29  For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of Yehovah:

 

Pro 1:30  They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

31  Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. 32  For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

 

Pro 1:33  But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

 

Pro_3:31  Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways.

Messiah - Isa 7:14  Therefore Yehovah himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

15  Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. 16  For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

 

Isa 56:4  For thus saith Yehovah unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;

5  Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.

6  Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to Yehovah, to serve him, and to love the name of Yehovah, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;

7  Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.

 

Isa 65:11  But ye are they that forsake Yehovah, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.

12  Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.

 

Isa 66:4  I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

 

 

Isa_66:3  He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

 

Jer_8:3  And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith Yehovah of hosts.

 

 

Psa_84:10  For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

 

 

Yeshua chooses:

 

Luk_10:42  But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

 

Joh_6:70  Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

 

Joh_13:18  I speak not of you all: I know whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against me.

 

Joh_15:16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

 

Joh_15:19  If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

In closing, my advice is before you choose, decide, or select, consult with Godly people and your result may be brighter.

 

Remember: the choices we make today, will decide our future

 

Eze_33:11  Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord Yehovah, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
