 Let’s pray

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory, from the 1500’s

 Today is July 28, 2012

Sad to say:

July - Julius Caesar’s month

Julius Caesar reformed the Roman calendar (hence the Julian calendar) in 46 BC. In the process, he renamed this month after himself.

------------------

Yehovah has His own calendar

We are now in the 5th month 8th day of God. This month has no name in scripture.

(Part of July / August 2012)

------------

Judaism calls this month Ab / Av which is made up, added to the word which we are commanded not to do.

Judaism's 9th of Av - no mention of that date in the scriptures.

Let's read...

2Kgs. 25 [3] And on the ninth day of the fourth month the famine prevailed in the city, and there was no bread for the people of the land.

[8] And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem: [9] And he burnt the house of Yehovah, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire.
[10] And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
[11] Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carry away.
[12] But the captain of the guard left of the poor of the land to be vinedressers and husbandmen.

Ezra .7 [8] And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king. [9] For upon the first day of the first month began he to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month came he to Jerusalem , according to the good hand of his God upon him.

Jer. 1 [1 ] The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
[2] To whom the word of Yehovah came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. [3] It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

Jer. 39 [2] And in the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, the ninth day of the month, the city was broken up.

Jer.52 [6] And in the fourth month, in the ninth day of the month , the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land

[12] Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzar-adan, captain of the guard, which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem, [13] And burned the house of Yehovah, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire:
[14] And all the army of the Chaldeans, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down all the walls of Jerusalem round about.
[15] Then Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people that remained in the city, and those that fell away, that fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude.
[16] But Nebuzar-adan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for husbandmen.

As we just read, no event happened on the 9th of the fifth month

No name Av in scripture

Time for this study again

Godly Women

Let’s start:

Six important women that were barren and the seventh was a virgin

Who would have known what was going to happen?

Pss.113 [9] He, God maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children.   Praise Yehovah!

-----------------------------------

Some English names

Sarai - Sarah had Isaac

Rebekah had twins, Esau and Jacob

Rachel had Joseph and Benjamin

Manoah's wife had Samson a judge

Hannah had Samuel, a prophet and judge

Elisabeth had the prophet of the Highest - John

Mary - Miriam had Yeshua the Messiah, the son of God by the Holy Spirit

-------------------

Sarai - Sarah

Gen.11 [30 ] But Sarai was barren ; she had no child.

Gen.17 [15] And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.[16] And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

Gen.17 [19] And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac : and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

[21] But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

Gen.21 [3] And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac .

-------------------

Rebekah

Gen.24 [60] And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions , and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.

Gen.25 [20 ] And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan-aram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.[ 21] And Isaac intreated Yehovah for his wife, because she was barren : and Yehovah was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

Gen.25 [21] And Isaac intreated Yehovah for his wife, because she was barren: and Yehovah was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived .
[22] And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to inquire of Yehovah.
[23] And Yehovah said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.
[24] And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins
in her womb.
[25] And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau .
[26] And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau's heel; and his name was called Jacob : and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.
[27] And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.
[28] And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.
[29] And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:
[30] And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

-------------------

Rachel

Gen.29 [28 ] And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
[29] And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.
[30] And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
[31] And when Yehovah saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.

Gen.35 Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:
[23] The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:
[24] The sons of Rachel ; Joseph, and Benjamin:
[25] And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel's handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:
[26] And the sons of Zilpah, Leah's handmaid; Gad, and Asher:

these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padan-aram.

-------------------

Manoah' wife

Judg.13 [2 ] And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren , and bare not. [3] And the angel of Yehovah appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

Judg.13 [24] And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson : and the child grew, and Yehovah blessed him.

Judg.16 [30] And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
[31] Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the burying place of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.

------------------

Hannah

1Sam.1 [1 ] Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of mount Ephraim , and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite: [2 ] And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children .

[5] But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but Yehovah had shut up her womb.
[6] And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because Yehovah had shut up her womb.

1Sam.1 [20] Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of Yehovah.

1Sam.7 [15] And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life

1Sam.25 [1] And Samuel died

-----------------

Elisabeth, a daughter of Aaron

Luke.1 [5] There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias , of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
[6] And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of Yehovah blameless.
[7] And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

[13] But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
[14] And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
[15] For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
[16] And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.
[17] And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Luke.1 [76 ] And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest : for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

Mary - Miriam

Luke.1 [27] To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary - Miriam.[28] And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

[30] And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
[31] And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Yeshua.
[32] He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
[33] And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
[34] Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
[35] And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

[45] And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.
[46] And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
[47] And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
[48] For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

A virtuous woman

Ruth.3 [11] And now, my daughter,(Ruth) fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

Prov.12 [4] A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

Prov.31 [10] Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies

[11] The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
[12] She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
[13] She
seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
[14] She is like the merchants' ships; she
bringeth her food from afar.
[15] She
riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
[16] She
considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
[17] She
girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
[18] She
perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
[19] She
layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
[20] She
stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
[21] She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
[22] She
maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
[23] Her husband is known in the gates, when he
sitteth among the elders of the land.
[24] She
maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
[25] Strength and
honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
[26] She
openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
[27] She
looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
[28] Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he
praiseth her.
[29] Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou
excellest them all.
[30]
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth Yehovah, she shall be praised.
[31] Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
