Shabbat Shalom

שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

--------------------------------------------

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s

Today is July 28, 2018 - in the 21 Century

 July -- Julius Caesar's month

Middle English Julie
Latin Julius "Julius"
Latin Julius
mensis "month of Julius"
Latin
quintilis mensis "fifth month"

Quintilis (and later Julius) has always had 31 days.

Julius Caesar reformed the Roman calendar (hence the Julian calendar) in 46 BC. In the process, he renamed this month after himself.

We acknowledge Yehovah’s calendar

We are now in the 5th month, day 14 – This month has no scriptural name.

It is not Av as Judaism and some Messianics say it is.

 Part of July / August

Today’s Topic

Is your journey in God prosperous or not?

Different ways to look at these words below:

Prosper, prosperous, profit, rich, not prosper, no profit, poor, cursed etc…

There are many verses with these words, here are a few:

Gen.13 [2] And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.

1Kgs.10 [23] So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom.

2Chr.32 [27] And Hezekiah had exceeding much riches and honour: and he made himself treasuries for silver, and for gold, and for precious stones, and for spices, and for shields, and for all manner of pleasant jewels;
[28] Storehouses also for the increase of corn, and wine, and oil; and stalls for all manner of beasts, and cotes for flocks.
[29] Moreover he provided him cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance: for God had given him substance very much.
[30] This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

Num.14 [41] And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of Yehovah? but it shall not prosper.

Deut.8 [17] And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth.[18] But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Deut.29 [9] Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

Deut.28 [15] But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of Yehovah thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

[29] And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save thee.

Josh. 1 [7] Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

[8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

[9] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for Yehovah thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Judg.18 [5] And they said unto him, Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous.

2 Chr.13 [12] …fight ye not against Yehovah God of your fathers; for ye shall not prosper.

Matt.16 [26] For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Pss.1 [1] Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

[2] But his delight is in the law of Yehovah; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

[3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Pss.35 [27] Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let Yehovah be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. [28] And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

Pss.37 [25] I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Pss.118 [25] Save now, I beseech thee, O Yehovah: O Yehovah, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

Pss.122 [6] Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.[7] Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

[
2] His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
[
3] Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.

Prov.3 [1] My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
[
2] For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
[

[8] It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
[
9] Honour Yehovah with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
[
10] So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

[11] My son, despise not the chastening of Yehovah; neither be weary of his correction:
[12] For whom Yehovah loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

[13] Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.
[14] For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
[15] She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
[16] Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
[17] Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
[18] She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Prov.11 [4] Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

[16] A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

[28] He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

[23] In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury (poverty – talk is cheap).

[24] The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.

Prov.17 [8] A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.

Prov.30 [8] [7] Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
[
8] Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
[
9] Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Yehovah? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

Ecc.5 [9] Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.

Ecc.10 [10] If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

[19] A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.

Jer.7 [8] Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.

Jer.2 [8] The priests said not, Where is Yehovah? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.

[11] Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.

Jer.12 [13] They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of Yehovah.

where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

Jer.16 [19] Yehovah, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

Jer.23 [32] Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith Yehovah, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, saith Yehovah.

Isa.48 [17] Thus saith Yehovah, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am Yehovah thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

Isa.44 [6] Thus saith Yehovah the King of Israel, and his redeemer Yehovah of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
[7] And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
[8] Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

[9] They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

[10] Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

[11] Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.

Matt.5 [27] Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
[28] But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

[29] And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
[30] And if thy right hand offend thee, cut if off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

John 6 [63] It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Hab.2 [18] What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?[19] Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.

[20] But Yehovah is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.

3 John 1 [2] Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

1Cor.10 [31] Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.[32] Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: [33] Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

1Tim.4 [7]… refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.[8] For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

[9] This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

[10] For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.

[11] These things command and teach.

[12] Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

[13] Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

[14] Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

[15] Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

[16] Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine;

continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

2 Tim. 2 [7] Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

[8] Remember that Yeshua the Messiah of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:

[9] Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

[10] Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Messiah Yeshua with eternal glory.

[11] It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
[12] If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
[13] If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

[14] Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

2 Tim. 3 [16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Tit.3 [8] This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

Heb.4 [2] For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Heb.13 [9] Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

Jas.2 [14] What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?

[15] If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
[16] And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

[17] Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Saul tells us:

1Cor.13 [1] Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

[2] And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

[3] And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

[4] Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

[5] Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

[6] Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

[7] Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

[8] Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

[9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

[10] But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

[11] When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

[12] For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

[13] And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

In closing:

Yeshua said:

Matt.6 [25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

[26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

[27] Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

[28] And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

[29] And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

[30] Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

[31] Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
[
32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

[33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

[34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Luke.12 [32] Yeshua said: Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

What’s better than that?

Always put God first, and as for your journey in God, may it be prosperous

 Shabbat Shalom
