Before we start this Sabbath, I always feel I need to mention that the Sabbath is not "a service" for an hour and a half, but the Sabbath is a "whole 24 hr. day" to the God of Israel.

The word Sabbath is "60 times" in the Gospels and letters

Luke 23:56 below, calls the Sabbath a Commandment and a rest as in the 10 Commandments - Exodus 20 and Deut. 5

Luke 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the commandment. (In - Exodus 20 and Deut. 5)

Question: S0 why are we here today?

Answer: We were told to remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy

The Sabbath is the 4th Commandment and part of the “covenant” given to us at Mount Sinai in the 3rd month, Sivan

Ex. 20 [8] Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

[9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

[10] But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

[11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yehovah blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.

--------

Lev. 23 [1] And Yehovah spake unto Moses, saying,[2] Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them,

Concerning the feasts of Yehovah, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

[3] Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of Yehovah in all your dwellings.

Within your gates - in all your dwellings

Unto this day, some people are still breaking the 4th commandment each week by not keeping the Sabbath as it is described above.

I shall again define a few words for you:

Remember

æëøzâkar - zaw-kar' - A primitive root; properly to mark (so as to be recognized), that is, to remember; by implication to mention; make mention of, be mindful, recount, record (-er), remember, make to be remembered, bring (call, come, keep, put) to (in) remembrance, still, think on, well.

----------

Holy Convocation

î÷øà  miqra: convocation, convoking, reading, a calling together, sacred assembly, something called out, that is, a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal

÷ãùÑ  kodesh: a sacred place or thing; consecrated, dedicated, hallowed, holiness, saint, sanctuary, apartness, sacredness, separateness, apartness, sacredness, holiness

----------

Dwelling

îùÑá/îåùÑá  môshâv - seat, assembly, dwelling-place, dwelling, your  situation, location, (at) time of dwelling

 -------------

Remember, tis the season to be pagan”

Lies are all around us, beware!

Beware of the false image of love and the false feelings and emotions that run wild.

These pagan feasts bring on loneliness, depression and suicide and oh yes, debt for years to come.

------------------------------------------

Today’s Topic:

What is right about Christmas? Nothing!

To say that Yeshua was born on December 25th is a lie!

Yeshua may have been born sometime in September according to the Scriptures during the Feast of Tabernacles.

Yeshua never spoke of commemorating his birth but rather spoke to them about the His death and resurrection which purchased our salvation.

Come, let us reason: Can we worship and honor God by involving ourselves with customs and traditions, which God Himself forbade as idolatry?

Can we get enjoyment for ourselves by these customs while the whole pretense of Christmas is a lie? (You lie to your children)

Can we do evil that good may come?

------------------

The myth of Christmas

I feel it is only appropriate to read about Christmas

The fall feast and holydays of Yehovah are for 2010

--

Sad to say, I have to explain these pagan holidays every year

--------------------

ALL LIES YOU TELL YOUR CHILDREN

There is a Santa Claus and he is a merry old man with red and white clothes

He has eight flying reindeers, later joined by Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

He has a home located on or near the North Pole

He fills socks or stockings with presents on the night of December 24th.

He enters houses through the chimney

He sees you when you're sleeping

He knows when you're awake

He knows if you've been bad or good

Decorate and Sing to a dead tree - O Christmas tree

----

We are commanded to teach our children the truth, not lies

Lev.10 [11] And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

Deut.4 [9] Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;

[10] Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Deut.6 [7] And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Deut.11 [19] And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Deut.31[19] Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

Pss.34[11] Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Yehovah.

Pss.132[12] If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

Tit.2 [3] The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
[4] That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
[5] To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

-----------------------

We are commanded by God - Learn not the way of the heathen

Jer.10 [2] Thus saith Yehovah, Learn not the way of the heathen , and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

The customs of the people are vain

[3] For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. [4] They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers that it move not.

***Breaking News

Once upon a time, Christmas was banned in 1659 in America

Nearly all aspects of Christmas observance have their roots in Roman custom and religion.

Consider the following admission from a large American newspaper (The Buffalo News, Nov. 22, 1984): “The earliest reference to Christmas being marked on Dec. 25 comes from the second century after Yeshua’ birth. It is considered likely the first Christmas celebrations were in reaction to the Roman Saturnalia, a harvest festival that marked the winter solstice—the return of the sun—and honored Saturn, the god of sowing.

Saturnalia was a rowdy time, much opposed by the more austere leaders among the still-minority Christian sect.

Christmas developed, one scholar says, as a means of replacing worship of the sun with worship of the Son.

By 529 A.D., after Christianity had become the official state religion of the Roman Empire, Emperor Justinian made Christmas a civic holiday. The celebration of Christmas reached its peak—some would say its worst moments—in the medieval period when it became a time for conspicuous consumption and unequaled revelry.”

Consider these quotes from the Catholic Encyclopedia, 1911 edition, under “Christmas”: “Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Church…The first evidence of the feast is from Egypt.” Further, “Pagan customs centring round the January calends gravitated to Christmas.”

Under “Natal Day,” Origen, an early Catholic writer, admitted, “…In the Scriptures, no one is recorded to have kept a feast or held a great banquet on his birthday.

It is only sinners (like Pharaoh and Herod) who make great rejoicings over the day on which they were born into this world” in scripture.

The Encyclopedia Americana, 1956 edition, adds, “Christmas…was not observed in the first centuries of the Christian church, since the Christian usage in general was to celebrate the death of remarkable persons rather than their birth…a feast was established in memory of this event [Messiah’s birth] in the 4th century. In the 5th century the Western church ordered the feast to be celebrated on the day of the Mithraic rites of the birth of the sun and at the close of the Saturnalia, as no certain knowledge of the day of Messiah’s birth existed.”

The following is a quote from the Encyclopedia Britannica, Volume 11; page 390.

"During the later periods of Roman history, sun worship gained in importance and ultimately led to what has been called a 'solar monotheism.' Nearly all the gods of the period were possessed of Solar qualities, and both Messiah and Mithra acquired the traits of solar seities.

The feast of Sol and Victus (open unconquered Sun) on December 25th was celebrated with great joy, and eventually this date was taken over by the (pseudo) Christians as Christmas, the birthday of Messiah." !!

The (pseudo) Christians were trying to get more converts so they adapted a pagan holiday to their worship to appease the pagans in 336 AD.

The Encyclopedia Britannica reports that "The traditional customs connected with Christmas have developed from several sources not as a result of the coincidence of the celebration of the birth of Messiah with the pagan agricultural and solar observations at midwinter.

In the Roman world the Saturnalia (December 17) was a time of merrymaking and exchange of gifts. December 25 was also regarded as the birth date of the Iranian mystery god Mithra, the Sun of Righteousness."

---------

Colliers Encyclopedia agrees. Quote: "After the triumph of Constantine, the church at Rome assigned December 25 as the date for the celebration of the feast, possibly about A.D. 320 or 353.

By the end of the fourth century the whole pseudo Christian world was celebrating Christmas on that day, with the exception of the Eastern churches, where it was celebrated on January 6.

The choice of December 25 was probably influenced by the fact that on this day the Romans celebrated the Mithraic feast of the Sun-god (natalis solis invicti), and that the Saturnalia also came at this time."

***All encyclopedias plainly reveal that the source of the celebration of December 25 is the birthday of Mithra, the pagan sun god.

Sun worshippers since the time of Babel recognized this time of year in honor of their gods.

1st century believers, taught personally by Messiah, did not celebrate His birthday.

2nd century theologians condemned the thought.

Only after severe persecution, destruction and inaccessibility of biblical scripture and the blending of pagan doctrine with the worship of the God of Israel was the Mithraic celebration of December 25th proclaimed to be "Christian" in nature.

These facts are well documented

They can be found in any encyclopedia.

There is no way to blend the God of Israel with the birthday of the sun god.

Anyone with access to an encyclopedia or computer today can know better than those with theological degrees from the past!

Go on Google on the net and search "Origin of Christmas - 13,300,000 results, Origin of Santa Claus - 1,230,000 results" - pagan traditions of Christmas - 1,100,000 results, etc... Do you really have an excuse not to know the truth?

Many people enjoy Pagan Christmas traditions without knowing of their origins.

I digress

Remember this;

Jer. 16 [19] Yehovah, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

Isa. 5 [20] Woe unto them that call

evil good,

and good evil;

that put darkness for light,

and light for darkness;

that put bitter for sweet,

and sweet for bitter!

[21] Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

[22] Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:

[23] Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him.

 Separate Yourselves

Havdalah

Havdalah is Hebrew for separation. It refers to separating the sacred from the ordinary.

An example of this: the sacred being the Sabbath day and the ordinary being the other days of the week.

The Havdalah service formally ends the Sabbath day and ushers in the regular week when we are once again engaged in our worldly concerns.

At the end of the Sabbath we are acutely aware of the tensions between these 2 worlds, being the spiritual and the carnal worlds.

James says:

James 1 [27] Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Saul says:

2 Cor.6 [14] Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

[15] And what concord hath Messiah with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

[16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

[17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,[18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

1 Cor. 10 [20] But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.
[21] Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
[22] Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
[23] All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.

Heb. 7 [26] For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

Eph. 5 [11] And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them

[12] For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

Exod. 33 [16] For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.

Lev. 20 [24] But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am Yehovah your God, which have separated you from other people. [25] Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.

Neh. 9 [2] And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all strangers, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.

Neh. 13 [3] Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.

Prov. 18 [1] Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

Matt. 25 [32] And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:[33] And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Rom. 1 [1] Paul, a servant of Yeshua the Messiah, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

----------------------------

Prov. 1

[10] My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
[11] If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
[12] Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
[13] We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
[14] Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
[15] My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
[16] For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
[17] Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
[18] And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
[19] So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof

Ezra 6:

21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek Yehovah God of Israel, did eat,
22 And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy: for Yehovah had made them joyful, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Ezra 8

Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
22 For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God [is] upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath [is] against all them that forsake him.
23 So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.

Ezra 10

And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.
11 Now therefore make confession unto Yehovah God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

Colossians 2:16

Our video lesson: http://oneinmessiah.net/col216b.asf

Col. 2
[4] And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

[8] Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Messiah.

[16] Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

[17] Which are a shadow of things to come (future tense); but the body is of Messiah.

Word study again:

Judge - κρινω krino: to try to condemn, to separate, put asunder, to pick out, to be of opinion, judge, to pronounce an opinion concerning right and wrong, to contend, to dispute

--------

Holyday - εορτη heorte -heh-or-tay' - a festival: - feast, holyday

--------

New moon - νουμηνία - noumēnia - noo-may-nee'-ah - the festival of new moon: - Rosh Chodesh.

--------

Sabbath days - σάββατον - sabbaton sab'-bat-on Of Hebrew origin - the Sabbath (that is, Shabbath), 7th day of week repose from secular avocations (also the observance or institution itself);

Also there are 7 extra Sabbaths in the feasts of Yehovah.

--------

Shadow - σκια skia : shadow, an image cast by an object and representing the form of that object, a sketch, outline

----------------------------

[18] Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,[19] And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

Matt.28

[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:[20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
