Today’s Topic:

Ye are Gods

God’s Judges

Pss.82

[1] God  אֱלֹהִים standeth in the congregation of the mighty; אֵל

He judgeth among the gods. אֱלֹהִים -

[2] How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

[3] Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
[4] Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
[5] They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

[6] I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
אֲנִי-אָמַרְתִּי, אֱלֹהִים אַתֶּם;    וּבְנֵי עֶלְיוֹן כֻּלְּכֶם.

[7] But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.

[8] Arise, O God, אֱלֹהִים    judge the earth: for Thou shalt inherit all nations.

Some Judges in Scripture

Some of these judges ruled simultaneously

Ruth 1 [1] Now it came to pass in the days when the judges הַשֹּׁפְטִים  ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of   Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

Judges 2

[18] And when Yehovah raised them up judges, then Yehovah was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented Yehovah because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

[19] And it came to pass, when the judge was dead,

that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way.

First servitude, to Mesopotamia - 8 years. Chushan-rishathaim king of Mesopotamia -- Judges 3:8, 10

Third judge: Shamgar. Third servitude, to Jabin  and Sisera-- 20 years. Judges 3:31 – Good

Fourth judge: Deborah - 40 years.  Fourth servitude, to Midian - 7 years.  Judges 4:1--5:31 urged Barak to attack the mighty army of the Canaanites. – Good

Seventh judge: Tola; 23 years. Judges 10:1-2 – Good

Eighth judge: Jair. 22 years.  Fifth servitude, to Ammon  - 18 years. Judges 10:3-5 – Good

Ninth judge: Jephthah; 6 years. Judges 11:1--12:7 was a harlot's son who defeated the Amorites. - Good

Tenth judge: Ibzan; 7 years. Judges 12:8-10 – Good

Eleventh judge: Elon; 10 years. Judges 12:11-12 – Good

Twelfth judge: Abdon. 8 years.  Sixth servitude, to the Philistines -  40 years. Judges 12:13-15 – Good

Thirteenth judge: Samson 20 years. Judges 13:1--16:31 delivered Israel from the Philistines. Known for his great strength.   Good

----------

Fourteenth judge: Eli; 40 years

1 Sam. 4 [18] And it came to pass, when he (Eli) made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

-------------------------

Watch your children!

Eli, not so good, evil sons

1Sam.1 [3]…the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of Yehovah, were there.

1Sam.2 [12] Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not Yehovah.

[22] Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.
[
23] And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people.
[
24] Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make Yehovah's people to transgress.
[
25] If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against Yehovah, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because Yehovah would slay them.

[27] And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith Yehovah, Did I plainly appear unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?
[28] And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the children of Israel?
[29] Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation; and honourest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?
[30] Wherefore Yehovah God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now Yehovah saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
[31] Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.
[32] And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel: and there shall not be an old man in thine house for ever.
[33] And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and to grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.
[34] And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in one day they shall die both of them.

[35] And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.
[36] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat a piece of bread.

The prophet: Samuel – Good, evil sons

1Sam.3

[20] And all Israel from Dan even to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of Yehovah.

1 Sam. 7

[15] And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

1 Sam. 8

[1] And it came to pass, when Samuel was old, that he made his sons judges over Israel. (bad judgment call)
[2] Now the name of his firstborn was Joel; and the name of his second, Abiah: they were judges in Beer-sheba.
[
3] And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.

1 Sam. 25

[1] And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

Gen.38

[1] And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah.

[2] And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite, whose name was Shuah; and he took her, and went in unto her.

[3] And she conceived, and bare a son; and he called his name Er.
[
4] And she conceived again, and bare a son; and she called his name Onan.

[5] And she yet again conceived, and bare a son; and called his name Shelah: and he was at Chezib, when she bare him.

[6] And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar.

[7] And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of Yehovah; and Yehovah slew him.

[8] And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
[
9] And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
[
10] And the thing which he did displeased Yehovah: wherefore he slew him also.

Where is righteous Judgment?

Prov.29 [12] If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.

Ecc.10[1] Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour.

All the Kings of Israel were evil and many Kings of Judah

1Kgs.16 [25] But Omri wrought evil in the eyes of Yehovah, and did worse than all that were before him.

[30] And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of Yehovah above all that were before him.

1Kgs.11[6] And Solomon did evil in the sight of Yehovah, and went not fully after Yehovah, as did David his father.

Judg.10[6] And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of Yehovah, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook Yehovah, and served not him.

1Kgs.14[22] And Judah did evil in the sight of Yehovah, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.

1Kgs.15 [25] And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.
[
26] And he did evil in the sight of Yehovah, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

[33] In the third year of Asa king of Judah began Baasha the son of Ahijah to reign over all Israel in Tirzah, twenty and four years.
[
34] And he did evil in the sight of Yehovah, and walked in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

1Kgs.22 [51] Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.
[
52] And he did evil in the sight of Yehovah, and walked in the way of his father, and in the way of his mother, and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin:
[
53] For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to anger Yehovah God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.

2Kgs.8 Ahaziah And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

2Kgs.11[1] And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.

[20] And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king's house.

2Kgs.8 [16] And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.
[
17] Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
[
18] And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of Yehovah.

[25] In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.
[
26] Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.
[
27] And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of Yehovah, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.

And on and on and on …

Now, we are judges

Ye are gods, judges with God's Word to judge righteously

Yeshua said:

John 7

[24] Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

------

Satan used these words:

Gen. 3

[5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

 -------------

Yeshua used these verses:

John 10:

[30] I and my Father are one.
[31] Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
[32]
Yeshua answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
[33] The Jews answered him, saying,
For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

[34] Yeshua answered them, is it not written in your law (Exod.), I said, Ye are gods?

[35] If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
[36] Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou
blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
[37] If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
[38] But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

Yeshua - the Word will judge us

John.1

[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 5

[30] I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

John 12

[47] And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. [48] He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

------------

1 Cor. 6

[3] Know ye not that we shall judge angels? [4] If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.

Law = Torah, teaching

Exod. 21

[1] Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them

[6] Then his master shall bring him unto the הָאֱלֹהִים   judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him forever.

Exod. 22

[8] If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, הָאֱלֹהִים   to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbor’s   goods. [9] For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; הָאֱלֹהִים  and whom the judges אֱלֹהִים   shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbor.

Exod.23

[1] Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness.
[2] Thou
shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:
[3] Neither
shalt thou countenance a poor man in his cause.

[6] Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause.

Lev.18

[4] Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am Yehovah your God.[5] Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am Yehovah.

Lev. 19

[15] Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

Love God’s Righteous Judgments like David

Pss. 119

[7] I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned Thy righteous judgments

[62] At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.

[106] I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep Thy righteous judgments.

[160] Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of Thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

[164] Seven times a day do I praise thee because of Thy righteous judgments.

------------

We don't judge with our own judgment, we use God's judgment, the Word to judge all matters

You are gods, judges with God's Word to judge righteously

Always remember:

Yeshua said:

John 7

[24] Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

2Cor.5

[10] For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Messiah; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Heb.9

[27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment

-----------------

Ezek.36

[27] And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Prov.28

[5] Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek Yehovah understand all things.

Prov.29

[4] The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

[26] Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from Yehovah.

Prov. 31

[4] It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
[5] Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

Ecc.3

[16]And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

Ecc.5

[8]If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent perverting of judgment and justice in a province, marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.

Ecc.8

[5] Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment.[6] Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.

Ecc.11

[9]Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

Ecc.12

[14] For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

-----------------

Peter writes:

1Pet. 4

[17] For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? [18] And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Matt.7

[1] Judge not (in your own spirit), that ye be not judged.
[2] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

John 9

[39] And Yeshua said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.[40] And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
[41]
Yeshua said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Matt.23

[23] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

John 5

[22] For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:

[23] That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent Him.

[27] And The Father hath given Him, Yeshua, the Son authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

[30] I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

John 12

[31] Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

John 16

[7] Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
[8] And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
[9] Of sin, because they believe not on me;
[10] Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
[11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

In closing:

1Cor.1

[10] Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Yeshua Messiah, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
