Shabbat Shalom

שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s

Today is January 5, 2019 - in the 21 Century

January -- Janus's month

Middle English Januarie
Latin Januarius "of Janus"
Latin Janu(s) "Janus" + -arius "ary (pertaining to)"
Latin Januarius mensis "month of Janus"

Janus is the Roman god of gates and doorways, depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions. His festival month is January.

Januarius had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

Yehovah has His own calendar:

We are now in the 10th month Tevet – 28th day

Esth.2 [16] So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign. טֵבֵת

**New moon - 2019 January - 7th    in the evening on Monday - 8th   Tuesday - Sh'vat, 11 month

This below is the first study for 2019 and the last study for Tevet, the 10th month

Today’s Topic:

You can be Happy and Blessed

אָשַׁר 'ashar {aw-shar'} or אָשֵׁר 'asher {aw-share'}

Meaning:  1) to go straight, walk, go on, advance, make progress 1a) (Qal) to go straight on, make progress 1b) (Piel) to go straight on, advance, to lead on (causative)  to set right, to pronounce happy, call blessed 1c) (Pual)  to be advanced, be led on - to be made happy, be blessed

אֶשֶׁר 'esher {eh'-sher} Meaning:  1) happiness, blessedness

A few verses, too many to post all:

Pss.1[1] Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
[2] But his delight is in the law of the Yehovah; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

[3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

[4] The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.[5] Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
[6] For
the Yehovah knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Pss.32 [1] Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
[2] Blessed is the man unto whom the Yehovah imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Pss.33 [12] Blessed is the nation whose God is the Yehovah: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Pss.34 [8] O taste and see that the Yehovah is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him

Pss.40[4] Blessed is that man that maketh the Yehovah his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Pss.41 [1] Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Yehovah will deliver him in time of trouble.[2] Yehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

Pss.65 [4] Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.

Pss.106 [3] Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

Pss.119 [1] Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Yehovah.[2] Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.

Pss.128 [1] Blessed is every one that feareth the Yehovah; that walketh in his ways.
[2] For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
[3] Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
[4] Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Yehovah.
[5] Yehovah shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
[6] Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.

Pss.144 [9] I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
[10] It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
[11] Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
[12] That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
[13] That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
[14] That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
[15] Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Yehovah.

Pss.146 [1] Praise ye the Yehovah. Praise the Yehovah, O my soul.
[2] While I live will I praise the Yehovah: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
[3] Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
[4] His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
[5] Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Yehovah his God:
[6] Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:
[7] Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. Yehovah looseth the prisoners:
[8] Yehovah openeth the eyes of the blind: the Yehovah raiseth them that are bowed down: the Yehovah loveth the righteous:
[9] Yehovah preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
[10] Yehovah shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations.
Praise ye Yah.

Job.5 [17] Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: [18] For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.

Prov.3 [13] Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

[14] For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
[15] She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
[16] Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
[17] Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

[18] She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her.

Prov.10 [7] The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Prov.20 [7] The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

Prov.14 [21] He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

Prov.16 [20] He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Yehovah, happy is he.

Prov.22 [9] He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.

Prov.28 [14] Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

Prov.29 [18] Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

John.13 [13] Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
[14] If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
[15] For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
[16] Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

[17] If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Saul says:

Rom.14 [19] Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

[20] For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

[21] It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

[22] Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

[23] And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Jas.5 [10] Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. [11] Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

1Pet.3[10] For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
[11] Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
[12] For the eyes of the Yehovah are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
[13] And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
[14] But and if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
[15] But sanctify the Yehovah God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
[16] Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Messiah.

[17] For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
[18] For Messiah also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
[19] By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
[20] Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
[21] The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah:
[22] Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

1Pet.4[12] Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
[13] But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Messiah's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
[14]
If ye be reproached for the name of Messiah, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
[15] But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.
[16] Yet if any man suffer as a Messiahian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
[17] For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
[18] And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
[19] Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Matt.5 [1] And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
[2] And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
[3] Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
[4] Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
[5] Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
[6] Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
[7] Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
[8] Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
[9] Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
[10] Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
[11] Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

[12] Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
[13] Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
[14] Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
[15] Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
[16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Matt.11 [6] And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Matt.13 [1] The same day went Yeshua out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
[
2] And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
[
3] And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
[
4] And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
[
5] Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
[
6] And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
[
7] And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
[
8] But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
[
9] Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
[
10] And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
[
11] He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
[
12] For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
[
13] Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
[
14] And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
[
15] For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

[16] But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

[17] For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

Matt.24 [42] Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
[43] But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
[44] Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
[45] Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

[46] Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

[47] Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
[48] But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
[49] And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
[50] The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
[51] And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matt.25 [34] Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

[35] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
[36] Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
[37] Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

[38] When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
[39] Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
[40] And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

[41] Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
[42] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
[43] I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
[44] Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
[45] Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
[46] And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Mark.10 [13] And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
[14] But when Yeshua saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
[15] Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.

[16] And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

Luke.6[20] And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said:

Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

[21] Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled.

Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

[22] Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

[23] Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

Luke.14 [12] Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
[13] But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:

[14] And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

Luke.24 [44] And Yeshua said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
[45] Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
[46] And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Messiah to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
[47] And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
[48] And ye are witnesses of these things.
[49] And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
[50] And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.
[51] And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
[52] And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
[53] And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

John.20 [29] Yeshua saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Rev.22 [7] Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.

[14] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

[20] He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly.

Amen

 Even so, come, Lord Yeshua
