No scripture says the 6th month is Elul
We did some study and came to this conclusion below.
Neh. 6 [15] So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days. (Must 6th month)
Neh. 7 [73] So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

I know I am not getting all the scriptures, however I feel that I am conveying to you the understanding of these commandments.

First, I will explain the simple understanding of the
2nd Commandment and then we will delve into the vast sea of scriptures.
Pss.115
[4] Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
[5] They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see
not:
[6] They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell
not:
[7] They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk
not: neither speak they through their throat.
[8] They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
Pss.135
[15] The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of
men's hands.
[16] They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see
not;
[17] They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in
their mouths.
[18] They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.
Rev.[20] And the rest of the men which were not killed by
these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should
not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone,
and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk[21] Neither
repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their
fornication, nor of their thefts.

The 2nd Commandment
Exod.20 [4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven
image, or any likeness of any thing
that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the
water under the earth:
[5] Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them,
nor serve them: for I Yehovah thy God am a jealous God,
visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and
fourth generation of them that hate me;
[6] And shewing mercy unto thousands
of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Lev.26[1] Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you
up a standing image, neither shall ye
set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am Yehovah your God.
[15] Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw
no manner of similitude on the day that Yehovah
spake unto you in Horeb
out of the midst of the fire:
[16] Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the
similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
[17] The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any
winged fowl that flieth in
the air,
[18] The likeness of any thing
that creepeth on the ground, the
likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
[19] And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto
heaven, and when thou seest
the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them,
which Yehovah thy God hath divided unto all nations under the
whole heaven.
[20] But Yehovah hath taken you, and brought
you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people
of inheritance, as ye are this day.
[21] Furthermore Yehovah was angry with me for your
sakes, and sware that I should not go
over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which Yehovah thy God giveth
thee for an inheritance:
[22] But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye
shall go over, and possess that good land.
[23] Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of Yehovah your God, which he made with you, and make you a
graven image, or the likeness of any thing,
which Yehovah thy God hath forbidden thee.
[24] For Yehovah thy God is a consuming
fire, even a jealous God.
[25] When thou shalt beget children, and
children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall
corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil
in the sight of Yehovah thy God, to provoke him to
anger:
[26] I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye
shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to
possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be
destroyed.
The 2nd Commandment - again

Deut.7
[1] When Yehovah thy God shall bring thee
into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast
out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites,
and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations
greater and mightier than thou;
[2] And when Yehovah thy God shall deliver them
before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly
destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them,
nor shew mercy unto them:
[3] Neither shalt thou make marriages with
them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor
his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
[4] For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the
anger of Yehovah be kindled against you, and
destroy thee suddenly.
[5] But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and
break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven
images with fire.
[6] For thou art an
holy people unto Yehovah thy God: Yehovah thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people
unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
[25] The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire:
thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor
take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to Yehovah thy God.
[26] Neither shalt thou bring an abomination
into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but
thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt
utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
Deut.12
[1] These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall
observe to do in the land, which Yehovah God of
thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the
days that ye live upon the earth.
[2] Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which
ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the
hills, and under every green tree:
[3] And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and
burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their
gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
Deut.27[15] Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination
unto Yehovah, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret
place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
Judg.17[3] And when he had restored the eleven hundred shekels of
silver to his mother, his mother said, I had wholly dedicated the silver unto Yehovah from my hand for my son, to make a graven
image and a molten image: now therefore I will restore it unto thee.[4]
Yet he restored the money unto his mother; and his mother took two hundred
shekels of silver, and gave them to the founder, who made thereof a graven
image and a molten image: and they were in the house of Micah.
Judg.18[14] Then answered the five men that went to spy out the
country of Laish, and said unto their
brethren, Do ye know that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and a graven
image, and a molten image? now
therefore consider what ye have to do.
[17] And the five men that went to spy out the land went up,
and came in thither, and took the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten
image: and the priest stood in the entering of the gate with the six hundred
men that were appointed with weapons of war.
[20] And the priest's heart was glad, and he took the ephod,
and the teraphim, and the graven
image, and went in the midst of the people.
[30] And the children of Dan set up the graven image:
and Jonathan, the son of Gershom,
the son of Manasseh, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan until the
day of the captivity of the land.
[31] And they set them up Micah's graven image, which he
made, all the time that the house of God was in Shiloh.
2Kgs.17[41] So these nations feared Yehovah,
and served their graven images, both their children, and their
children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.
2Kgs.21[7] And he set a graven image of the grove that he had
made in the house, of which Yehovah said to David, and to
Solomon his son, In this house, and in
Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put
my name for ever:
2Chr.33[19] His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sin, and his
trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and
graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the
sayings of the seers.
2Chr.34[7] And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and
had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols
throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to
prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
Isa.42[8] I am Yehovah: that is my name: and my
glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
[17] They shall be turned back,
they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to
the molten images, Ye are our gods.
Isa.44[9] They that make a graven image are all of them
vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own
witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
[10] Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image
that is profitable for nothing?
[15] Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take
thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth
it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven
image, and falleth down thereto.
[17] And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou
art my god.
Isa.45[20] Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that
are escaped of the nations: they have no knowledge that set up the wood of
their graven image, and pray unto a god that cannot save.
Isa.48[5] I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before
it came to pass I shewed it
thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done
them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
Isa.49[16] Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my
hands; thy walls are continually before me.
Jer.8[19] Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people
because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not Yehovah
in Zion? is not her king in her? Why
have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with
strange vanities?
Jer.10[1] Hear ye the word which
Yehovah
speaketh
unto you, O house of Israel:
[2] Thus saith
Yehovah,
Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for
the heathen are dismayed at them.
[3] For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the
forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
[4] They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers,
that it move not.
[5] They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs
be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do
evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
Jer.50[38] A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up:
for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.
Jer.51[17] Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is
confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and
there is no breath in them.
[47] Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment
upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be
confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
[52] Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith
Yehovah, that I will do judgment upon her graven
images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.
Hos.11[2] As they called them, so they went from them: they
sacrificed unto Baalim,
and burned incense to graven images.
Mic.1[7] And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to
pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the
idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an
harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot.
Mic.5[13] Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy
standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt
no more worship the work of thine hands.
Nah.1[14] And Yehovah hath given a commandment
concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sown: out of the house of thy gods
will I cut off the graven image and the molten image: I will make thy
grave; for thou art vile.
Hab.2[18] What profiteth
the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the
molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make
dumb idols?

from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten
images, and quite pluck down all their high places:

of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the

thou hast gone and made thee
other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me
behind thy back:
2Kgs.17[16] And they left all the commandments of Yehovah

and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

Isa.48[5] I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before
it came to pass I shewed it
thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath
done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
Isa.57[5] Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green
tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?
Isa.66[3] He that killeth
an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth
a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's
blood; he that burneth
incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways,
and their soul delighteth
in their abominations.
Jer.22[28] Is this man Coniah
a despised broken idol? is
he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore
are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know
not?
Jer.50[2] Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a
standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols
are confounded, her images are broken in pieces.
[38] A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up:
for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.
Ezek.6[4] And your altars shall be desolate, and your images shall be
broken: and I will cast down your slain men before your idols.[5]
And I will lay the dead carcases
of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your
bones round about your altars.[6] In all your dwellingplaces the cities shall be laid waste,
and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and
made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your images
may be cut down, and your works may be abolished.
[9] And they that escape of you shall remember me among the
nations whither they shall be carried captives, because I am broken with their
whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which go a
whoring after their idols: and they shall lothe themselves for the evils which they have
committed in all their abominations.
[13] Then shall ye know that I am Yehovah,
when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their
altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every
green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols.
Ezek.8[10] So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping
things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel,
pourtrayed upon the wall
round about.
Ezek.14[3] Son of man, these men have set up their idols in
their heart, and put the stumblingblock
of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?[4]
Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith
the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his
iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I Yehovah
will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;[5]
That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all
estranged from me through their idols.[6] Therefore say unto the
house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and
turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your
abominations.[7] For every one of the house of Israel, or of the
stranger that sojourneth
in Israel, which separateth
himself from me, and setteth
up his idols in his heart, and putteth
the stumblingblock of his
iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning
me; I Yehovah will answer him by myself:
Ezek.16[36] Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy
filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers,
and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy
children, which thou didst give unto them;
Ezek.18[6] And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted
up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled
his neighbour's wife, neither
hath come near to a menstruous
woman,
[12] Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by

Ezek.20[7] Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the
abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of
Egypt: I am Yehovah your God.[8] But
they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man
cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols
of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them to accomplish my anger
against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
[16] Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my
statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their
idols.
[18] But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye
not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor
defile yourselves with their idols:
[24] Because they had not executed my judgments, but had
despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their
fathers' idols.
[31] For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to
pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even
unto this day: and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,
saith the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you.
[39] As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith
the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one
his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but
pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
Ezek.22[3] Then say thou, Thus saith
the Lord GOD, The city sheddeth
blood in the midst of it, that her time may come, and maketh idols against herself to defile
herself.[4] Thou art become guilty in thy blood that thou hast shed; and
hast defiled thyself in thine idols which thou hast
made; and thou hast caused thy days to draw near, and art come even unto thy
years: therefore have I made thee a reproach unto the heathen, and a mocking to
all countries.
Ezek.23[7] Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the
chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols
she defiled herself.
[30] I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a
whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.
[37] That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have
they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto
me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.
[39] For when they had slain their children to their idols,
then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have
they done in the midst of mine house.
[49] And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye
shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord

Ezek.30[13] Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also
destroy the idols, and I will cause their images to cease out of Noph; and there shall be no
more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I will put a fear in the land of Egypt.

Hab.2[18] What profiteth
the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a

that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth

offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing

[7] Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some
with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered
unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled.
[10] For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat
in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be
emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;
1Cor.10[7] Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it
is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.[14]
Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.
[19] What say I then? that
the idol is any thing,
or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
[28] But if any man say
unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake
that shewed it, and for conscience
sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:
1Cor.12[2] Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb
idols, even as ye were led.
2Cor.6[16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?

have been there, I must also see Rome.
[22] So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but
he himself stayed in Asia for a season.
[23] And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.
[24] For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver
shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;
[25] Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and
said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.
[26] Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost
throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people,
saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
[27] So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the
temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence
should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.
[28] And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and
cried out, saying, Great is
Diana of the Ephesians.
[29] And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught
Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul's companions in travel, they
rushed with one accord into the theatre.
[30] And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples
suffered him not.
[31] And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto
him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.
[32] Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly
was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.
[33] And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him
forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.
[34] But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the
space of two hours cried out, Great
is Diana of the Ephesians.
[35] And when the townclerk
had appeased the people, he said, Ye
men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth
not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess
Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
[36] Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to
be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
[37] For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of
churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.
[38] Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have
a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.
[39] But if ye inquire any thing
concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.
[40] For we are in danger to be called in question for this day's
uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.
[41] And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
Acts.17
[1] Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a
synagogue of the Jews:
[2] And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with
them out of the scriptures,
[3] Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen
again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ.
[4] And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of
the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few.
[5] But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them
certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the
city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them
out to the people.
[6] And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren
unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside
down are come hither also;
[7] Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees
of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.
[8] And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they
heard these things.
[9] And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they
let them go.
[10] And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto
Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
[11] These were more noble
than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness
of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
[12] Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men,
not a few.
[13] But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of
God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the
people.
[14] And then immediately the brethren sent away Paul to go as it were
to the sea: but Silas and Timotheus
abode there still.
[15] And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving
a commandment unto Silas and Timotheus
for to come to him with all speed, they departed.
[16] Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in
him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.
[17] Therefore disputed he
in the synagogue with the Jews, and with the devout persons, and in the market
daily with them that met with him.
[18] Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him.
And some said, What will
this babbler say? other
some, He seemeth to be a setter forth
of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
[19] And they took him, and brought him unto Areopagus, saying, May we know what this new
doctrine, whereof thou speakest,
is?
[20] For thou bringest
certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things
mean.
[21] (For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their
time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
[22] Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive
that in all things ye are too superstitious.
[23] For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar
with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.
Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him
declare I unto you.
[24] God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is
Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth
not in temples made with hands;
[25] Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
[26] And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all
the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the
bounds of their habitation;
[27] That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him,
and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
[28] For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also
of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
[29] Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to
think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art
and man's device.
[30] And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
[31] Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the
world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given
assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
[32] And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked:
and others said, We will
hear thee again of this matter.
[33] So Paul departed from among them.
[34] Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman
named Damaris, and others with

upon the cart, and the coffer with the mice of gold and the images of
their emerods.
2Sam.5[21] And there they left their images, and David and his
men burned them.
1Kgs.14[9] But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for
thou hast gone and made thee
other gods, and molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast me
behind thy back:
[23] For they also built them high places, and images,
and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree

[41] So these nations feared Yehovah,
and served their graven images, both their children, and their
children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto this day.
2Kgs.18[4] He removed the high places, and brake the images,
and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto
those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
2Kgs.23[14] And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the
groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
[24] Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the
wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that
were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he

the house of Yehovah.

2Chr.33[19] His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sin, and his
trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and
graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the
sayings of the seers.
[22] But he did that which was evil in the sight of Yehovah, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the
carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
[3] For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet
young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth
year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the
groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
[4] And they brake
down the altars of Baalim
in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut
down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images,
he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had
sacrificed unto them.
[7] And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and
had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols
throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
[58] For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and
moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
[7] Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him,
all ye gods.
[10] As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose
graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;
[8] And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands,
neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or
the images.
[9] And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of
horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the
graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.
[9] By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged;
and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones
that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.
[22] Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images
of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt
say unto it, Get thee hence.
[29] Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing:
their molten images are wind and confusion.
[8] I am Yehovah: that is my name: and my
glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
[17] They shall be turned back,
they shall be greatly ashamed, that trust in graven images, that say to
the molten images, Ye are our gods.
[19] Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people
because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not Yehovah
in Zion? is not her king in her? Why
have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with
strange vanities?
[13] He shall break also the images of Beth-shemesh, that is in the land
of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.
[2] Declare ye
among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal
not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel
is confounded, Merodach
is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in
pieces.
[38] A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up:
for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.
[47] Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment
upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be
confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.
[52] Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith
Yehovah, that I will do judgment upon her graven
images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.
[4] And your altars shall be desolate, and your images
shall be broken: and I will cast down your slain men before your idols.

the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that
your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken

according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.

and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.

the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the
house of Jeroboam with the sword.

away this day from Yehovah our God, to go and serve

up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land,
whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant
which I have made with them.

evil unto you to serve Yehovah, choose you this day whom
ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the
other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye
dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yehovah.
[12] And they forsook Yehovah
God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed
other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and
bowed themselves unto them, and provoked Yehovah
to anger.
[10] And I said unto you, I am Yehovah
your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but
ye have not obeyed my voice.
[6] And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of Yehovah, and served Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Syria, and the gods of
Zidon, and the gods of Moab,
and the gods of the children of Ammon,
and the gods of the Philistines, and forsook Yehovah,
and served not him.
[23] And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of
the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them
in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.
[29] Howbeit every nation made gods of their own, and
put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every
nation in their cities wherein they dwelt.
[31] And the Avites
made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burnt their
children in fire to Adrammelech
and Anammelech, the gods of
Sepharvaim.
[33] Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at
all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
[34] Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?
have they delivered Samaria
out of mine hand?
[35] Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have
delivered their country out of mine hand, that Yehovah
should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?
[12] Have the gods of the nations delivered them which
my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan,
and Haran, and Rezeph,
and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?
[25] And they transgressed against the God of their fathers,
and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God
destroyed before them.
[26] For all the gods of the people are idols: but Yehovah made the heavens.
[14] Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought
the gods of the children of Seir,
and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned
incense unto them.
[15] Wherefore the anger of Yehovah
was kindled against Amaziah,
and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the
people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine
hand?
[20] But Amaziah
would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of
their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom.
[23] For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which
smote him: and he said, Because
the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to
them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
[13] Know ye
not what I and my fathers have done unto all the people of other lands? were the gods of the
nations of those lands any ways able to deliver their lands out of mine hand?
[14] Who was there among all the gods of those nations
that my fathers utterly destroyed,
that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to
deliver you out of mine hand?
[17] He wrote also letters to rail on Yehovah
God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands
have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of
Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.
[19] And they spake against the God of Jerusalem,
as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of
the hands of man.
[5] For all the gods of the nations are idols: but Yehovah made the heavens.
[18] Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, Yehovah will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of
the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
[19] Where are the gods of Hamath and Arphad?
where are the gods of
Sepharvaim? and have they delivered
Samaria out of my hand?
[20] Who are they among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered
their land out of my hand, that Yehovah should
deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
[12] Have the gods of the nations delivered them which
my fathers have destroyed, as Gozan,
and Haran, and Rezeph,
and the children of Eden which were in Telassar?
[12] And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of
Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array
himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth
from thence in peace.
[13] He shall break also the images of Beth-shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the
houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.
[4] They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and
of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
[23] But hast lifted up thyself against Yehovah
of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and
thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them;
and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron,
wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand
thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
[11] Yehovah will be terrible unto them:
for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him,
every one from his place, even all the isles of the
heathen

Baal
[41] And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and
brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the
utmost part of the people.
[17] Heshbon,
and all her cities that are in the plain; Dibon, and Bamoth-baal,
and Beth-baal-meon,
[60] Kirjath-baal,
which is Kirjath-jearim, and Rabbah; two cities with
their villages:
[14] And the border was drawn thence, and compassed the corner
of the sea southward, from the hill that lieth
before Beth-horon
southward; and the goings out thereof were at Kirjath-baal, which is Kirjath-jearim, a city of the children of Judah:
this was the west quarter.
[13] And they forsook Yehovah,
and served Baal and Ashtaroth.
[25] And it came to pass the same night, that Yehovah
said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of
seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath,
and cut down the grove that is by it:
[28] And when the men of the city arose early in the morning,
behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that
was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.
[30] Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die:
because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the
grove that was by it.
[31] And Joash
said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him,
let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead
for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.
[32] Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against
him, because he hath thrown down his altar.
[31] And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for
him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter
of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and
served Baal, and worshipped him.
[32] And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of
Baal, which he had built in Samaria.
[19] Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the
prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves
four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table.
[21] And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two
opinions? if Yehovah
be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him
not a word.
[22] Then said Elijah unto the people, I, even I only, remain a
prophet of Yehovah; but Baal's prophets are
four hundred and fifty men.
[25] And Elijah said unto the prophets of Baal, Choose you one
bullock for yourselves, and dress it first; for ye are many; and call on the
name of your gods, but put no fire under.
[26] And they took the bullock which was given them, and they
dressed it, and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon,
saying, O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And
they leaped upon the altar which was made.
[40] And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let
not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the
brook Kishon, and slew them there.
[18] Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees
which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
[53] For he served Baal, and worshipped him, and provoked to
anger Yehovah God of Israel, according to all that his father
had done.
[2] And he wrought evil in the sight of Yehovah;
but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of
Baal that his father had made.
[18] And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto
them, Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu shall serve him much.
[19] Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all
his servants, and all his priests; let none be wanting: for I have a great
sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting,
he shall not live. But Jehu did it in subtilty,
to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.
[20] And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And
they proclaimed it.
[21] And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers
of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they
came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end
to another.
[22] And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth
vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments.
[23] And Jehu went, and Jehonadab
the son of Rechab, into the house of
Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be
here with you none of the servants of Yehovah,
but the worshippers of Baal only.
[25] And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of
offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let
none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard
and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.
[26] And they brought forth the images out of the house of
Baal, and burned them.
[27] And they brake
down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught
house unto this day.
[28] Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
[18] And all the people of the land went into the house of
Baal, and brake it down; his altars
and his images brake they in pieces thoroughly, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the
altars. And the priest appointed officers over the house of Yehovah.
[16] And they left all the commandments of Yehovah
their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and
worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
[3] For he built up again the high places which Hezekiah his
father had destroyed; and he reared up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as
did Ahab king of Israel; and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
[4] And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the
second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of Yehovah all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for
the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem
in the fields of Kidron,
and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.
[5] And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of
Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah,
and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto
Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
[33] And all their villages that were round about the same
cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.
[5] Micah his son, Reaia
his son, Baal his son,
[30] And his firstborn son Abdon, and Zur,
and Kish, and Baal, and Nadab,
[33] And Ner
begat Kish, and Kish begat Saul, and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchi-shua, and Abinadab, and Esh-baal.
[34] And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal begat Micah.
[36] And his firstborn son Abdon, then Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab,
[39] And Ner
begat Kish; and Kish begat Saul; and Saul begat Jonathan, and Malchi-shua, and Abinadab, and Esh-baal.
[40] And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal: and Merib-baal begat Micah.
[17] Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his
altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the
altars.
[7] And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the
Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal,
and the Mehunims.
[8] The priests said not, Where
is Yehovah? and
they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me,
and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit.
[9] Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear
falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;
[13] For according to the number of
thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the
number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful
thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.
[17] For Yehovah of hosts, that planted
thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel
and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke
me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.
[16] And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn
the ways of my people, to swear by my name, Yehovah
liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then
shall they be built in the midst of my people.
Jer.19[5] They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their
sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
Jer.23[13] And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they
prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.
[27] Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their
dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour,
as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.
Jer.32[29] And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall
come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs
they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other
gods, to provoke me to anger.
[35] And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the
valley of the son of Hinnom,
to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded
them not, neither came it into my mind, that
they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
Hos.2[8] For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and
oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.
Hos.13[1] When Ephraim spake trembling,
he exalted himself in Israel; but when he offended in Baal, he died.
Zeph.1[4] I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon all
the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off the remnant of Baal from
this place, and the name of the Chemarims
with the priests;
Rom.11[4] But what saith the answer of God unto him? I
have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the
image of Baal.
Lev.17[7] And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils,
after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them
throughout their generations.
Deut.32[17] They sacrificed unto devils, not to God; to gods
whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared
not.
Pss.106[37] Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters
unto devils,
1Cor.10[20] But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice,
they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should
have fellowship with devils.
1Thes.1[9] For they themselves shew
of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God
from idols to serve the living and true God;
[21] Little
children, keep yourselves
from idols.
