Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the
1500’s,
June 10, 2017 - in the
21 Century
June -- goddess Juno's month
Middle
English jun(e)
Old French juin
Old English junius
Latin Junius "of Juno"
Latin Junius mensis "month of Juno"
Junius had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became
30 days long.
Juno is the principle goddess of the Roman Pantheon. The Pantheon is a former Roman temple, now a church, in Rome, Italy,
on the site of an earlier temple commissioned by Marcus Agrippa during the
reign of Augustus (27 BC – 14 AD)...
The
Roman Pantheon is the most preserved and influential building of ancient Rome. It is a Roman temple dedicated to all the “gods of pagan
Rome”.
Juno is the goddess of marriage and the well-being of women.
She is the wife and sister of Jupiter. She is identified with the Greek goddess
Hera.

Today’s topic:
Be aware of Vanity
Vanity will get you
all the time
הָבַל
haval
to be
vain in act, word, or expectation; specifically to lead
astray: - be (become, make) vain.
הֲבֵל הֶבֶל
hebel hăbêl
emptiness or
vanity; figuratively
something transitory
and unsatisfactory;
often used as an adverb: altogether, vain, vanity.
transitory: not lasting, enduring, permanent, or
eternal, not lasting, only a short time; brief; short-lived; temporary.
Seems like vanity,
flattery, lust, pride, all sin, etc… all go together

Commandment
3
Exod.20
[7] Thou shalt not take the name of Yehovah thy God in vain;
for Yehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.
----------
Yeshua said:
Mark
7 [7]
Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for
doctrines the commandments of men.
----------
James
said:
Jas.
4 [5] Do ye
think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?
------------
John says:
1
John 2 [16]
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father,
but is of the world.
----------
Say to read:
Deut.32
[21] The
people from the past, They have moved me to jealousy with that which is
not God; they have provoked Me to anger with their
vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a
people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.

Some
Kings
1Kgs.16
[8] In the twenty and sixth year of Asa
king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel in Tirzah,
two years.
[9] And his servant Zimri, captain of half his
chariots, conspired against him, as he was in Tirzah,
drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza steward
of his house in Tirzah.
[10] And Zimri went in and smote him, and killed him,
in the twenty and seventh year of Asa king of Judah,
and reigned in his stead.
[11] And it came to pass, when he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his
throne, that he slew all the house of Baasha: he left
him not one that pisseth against a wall, neither of
his kinsfolks, nor of his friends.
[12] Thus did Zimri destroy all the house of Baasha, according to the word of Yehovah,
which he spake against Baasha
by Jehu the prophet,
[13] For all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his
son, by which they sinned, and by which they made Israel to sin, in
provoking Yehovah God of Israel to anger with their
vanities.[26] For he walked in all the way of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin wherewith
he made Israel to sin, to provoke Yehovah God of
Israel to anger with their vanities.
2 Kgs. 17 [15] And they rejected his statutes, and his
covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he
testified against them; and they followed vanity,
and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them,
concerning whom Yehovah had charged them, that they
should not do like them.

Some
Psalms and Proverbsi[
Pss.94
[11] Yehovah knoweth the thoughts of
man, that they are vanity.
Pss.127
[1] Except Yehovah build the house, they labour
in vain that build it: except Yehovah keep the city,
the watchman waketh but in vain.
Pss. 31 [6]
I have hated them that regard lying vanities:
but I trust in Yehovah.
Pss.4
[2] O ye
sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how
long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
Pss.12
[1] Help, Yehovah; for the godly man ceaseth;
for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
[2] They speak vanity every one with his neighbour:
with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
[3] Yehovah shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh
proud things:
[4] Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our
own: who is lord over us?
Pss.39
[5] Behold,
thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age
is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
Pss.62
[9] Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree
are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are
altogether lighter than vanity.
[10] Trust not
in oppression, and become not vain in robbery:
if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.
[11] God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.
[12] Also unto thee, O Yehovah belongeth mercy: for thou renderest
to every man according to his work.
Pss.24
[1] The earth
is Yehovah's, and the fulness
thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
[2] For he hath founded it upon the seas, and
established it upon the floods.
[3] Who shall ascend into the hill of Yehovah? or who shall stand in his holy place?
[4] He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath
not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
[5] He shall receive the blessing from Yehovah, and
righteousness from the God of his salvation.
[6] This is the generation of them that seek him, that
seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.
[7] Lift up your head, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and
the King of glory shall come in.
[8] Who is this King of glory? Yehovah strong and
mighty, Yehovah mighty in battle.
[9] Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors;
and the King of glory shall come in.
[10] Who is this King of glory? Yehovah of hosts, he
is the King of glory. Selah.
Pss.78
[29] So
they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;
[30] They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in
their mouths,
[31] The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote
down the chosen men of Israel.
[32] For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.
[33] Therefore their days did He consume in vanity,
and their years in trouble.
Pss.119
[37] Turn
away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and
quicken thou me in thy way.
Pss.144
[4] Man is
like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
[7] Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great
waters, from the hand of strange children; [8] Whose
mouth speaketh vanity,
and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
[11] Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children,
whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is
a right hand of falsehood:
Prov.13
[11] Wealth
gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he
that gathereth by labour
shall increase.
Prov.21
[6] The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
Prov.22
[8] He that
soweth iniquity shall reap
vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
Prov.30
[8] Remove
far from me vanity and lies: give me neither
poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: [9] Lest
I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is Yehovah? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take
the name of my God in vain.

Some
Ecclesiastes
Ecc. 1: [1]
The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in
Jerusalem.
[2] Vanity of vanities, saith
the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
[3] What profit hath a man of all his labour
which he taketh under the sun?
[4] One
generation passeth away, and another generation
cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.
[14] I have
seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and
vexation of spirit.
Ecc.2
[1] I said
in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy
pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.
[11] Then I
looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do:
and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and
there was no profit under the sun.
[15] Then said
I in my heart, As it happeneth
to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was
I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this
also is vanity.
[17] Therefore
I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity
and vexation of spirit.
[19] And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour
wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun. This
is also vanity.
[21] For there
is a man whose labour is in wisdom, and in knowledge,
and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured
therein shall he leave it for his portion. This also is
vanity and a great evil.
[23] For all
his days are sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh
not rest in the night. This is also vanity.
[26] For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and
knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth
travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before
God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecc.3
[19] For that which befalleth the sons
of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth,
so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so
that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
Ecc.5[10]
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with
silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase:
this is also vanity.
Ecc.6
[9] Better is the sight of the eyes than the wandering of the
desire: this is also vanity and vexation of spirit.
Ecc. 5:[7] For in the multitude of
dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.
Ecc.7
[6] For as the crackling of thorns under a pot, so is the
laughter of the fool: this also is vanity.
Ecc.8
[14] There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there
be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the
work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth
according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.
Ecc.11[8] But if a man live many
years, and rejoice in them all; yet let him remember the days of darkness; for
they shall be many. All that cometh is vanity.
[10] Therefore
remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood
and youth are vanity.
Ecc.9
[9] Live
joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days
of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days
of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under
the sun.

Some
Prophets
Isa.5
[18] Woe
unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity,
and sin as it were with a cart rope: [19] That say,
Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the
counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!
[20] Woe unto them that call evil good, and good
evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for
sweet, and sweet for bitter!
[21] Woe unto them that are wise in their own
eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
[22] Woe unto them that are mighty to drink
wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:
[23] Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of
the righteous from him!
Isa.59
[4]
None calleth for justice,
nor any pleadeth for truth:
they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring
forth iniquity.
-----------------
Jer.16
[19] O Yehovah, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the
day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the
earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have
inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.
Jer.18
[15] Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned
incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the
ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up; [16] To make their land
desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth
thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.
Jer.8
[19] Behold
the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in
a far country: Is not Yehovah in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger
with their graven images, and with strange vanities?
[20] The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.
Jer.10
[8] But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a
doctrine of vanities.
Jer.14
[22] Are
there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art
not thou he, Yehovah
our God? therefore we will
wait upon Thee: for Thou hast made all these things.

Jonah
2 [8] They
that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
Job
15[1] Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
[2] Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east

[3] Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with
speeches wherewith he can do no good?
[31] Let not
him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall
be his recompence.
[34] For the
congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the
tabernacles of bribery.
[35] They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity,
and their belly prepareth deceit.
Job
35 [13] Surely God will not hear vanity,
neither will the Almighty regard it.

Same
situation after Yeshua rose from the dead
Paul and
Barnabas
Acts.14
[1] And
it came to pass in Iconium, that they, Paul and Barnabas went both together into the
synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great
multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.
[2] But
the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles,
and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.
[3] Long
time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord,
which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders
to be done by their hands.
[4] But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and
part with the apostles.
[5] And
when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with
their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,
[6] They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth
round about:[7] And there they preached the gospel.
[8] And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent
in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:[9]
The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding
him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,[10] Said with a loud voice,
Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.
[11] And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices,
saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come
down to us in the likeness of men.
[12] And
they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius,
because he was the chief speaker.
[13] Then
the priest of Jupiter, which was before their
city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice
with the people.
[14] Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their
clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,
[15] And
saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with
you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these
vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea,
and all things that are therein:[16] Who in times past suffered all nations to
walk in their own ways.
[17]
Nevertheless He left not Himself without witness, in that He did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons,
filling our hearts with food and gladness.
[18] And
with these sayings scarce restrained they the people,
that they had not done sacrifice unto them.
[19] And
there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium,
who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew
him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.
[20]
Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the
city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
[21] And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many,
they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
[22] Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in
the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of
God.
[23] And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed
with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.
[24] And after they had passed throughout Pisidia,
they came to Pamphylia.
[25] And when they had preached the word in Perga,
they went down into Attalia:[26]
And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the
grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.
[27] And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they
rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he
had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
[28] And there they abode long time with the disciples.

Ecclesiastes
12[8] Vanity of vanities, saith the
preacher; all is vanity.
[9] And
moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge;
yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
[10] The
preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was
upright, even words of truth.
[11] The words
of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies,
which are given from one shepherd.
[12] And
further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end;
and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
[13] Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God,
and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
[14] For God
shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

Here
is the Sabbath explained, how simple it is:
The Sabbath is the 4th Commandment of the covenant given to
us at Mount Sinai in the 3rd
month, Sivan
Ex. 20 [8] Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
זכר Remember
zâkar - zaw-kar' - A primitive
root; properly to mark (so as to be recognized), that is, to remember; by implication
to mention; make mention of, be mindful, recount, record (-er), remember, make
to be remembered, bring (call, come, keep, put) to (in) remembrance, still,
think on, well.
[9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
[10] But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yehovah thy God:
in
it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
[11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
--------
Isa. 58 [13] If thou turn
away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of Yehovah, honourable; and shalt honour him,
1 - not doing thine own ways,
2 - nor finding thine own pleasure,
3 - nor speaking thine own words:
[14] Then shalt thou delight thyself in Yehovah; and I will cause thee to
ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of
Jacob thy father: for the mouth of Yehovah hath spoken
it.
------------
Lev. 23 [3] Six days shall work be
done: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest,
an "holy
convocation";
ye shall do no work therein: it is the Sabbath of Yehovah in
all your dwellings.
Dwellingמושׁב môshâv - seat, assembly,
dwelling-place, dwelling, your situation, location, (at) time of dwelling
------------
The Sabbath is a "holy convocation, a miqra kodesh"
מקרא
miqra: convocation, convoking,
reading, a calling together, sacred assembly, something called out, that
is, a public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a
rehearsal
קדשׁ kodesh: a sacred
place or thing; consecrated, dedicated, hallowed, holiness, saint, sanctuary,
apartness, sacredness, separateness, apartness, sacredness, holiness
------------
Buying and
selling is evil on the Sabbath
Neh. 13 [16] There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner
of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of
Judah, and in Jerusalem.
[17] Then I
contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them,
what evil thing is this that ye do, and
profane the Sabbath day?
------------------------------------------
The first day
is mentioned only 2
times when they met for certain events in Acts and the letter to the
Corinthians
It never says the 1st day replaced the 7th day as
Sabbath
It never says the 1st day is a Commandment or a rest
Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul
preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech
until midnight.
1Corinthians 16:2 Upon the first day of the week
let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath
prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
Why doesn’t any pseudo Christian ever mention the 60 times in the
Gospels and letters it uses the word
Sabbath!
