 Let’s pray

Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s.

Today is May 11, 2013

May -- Maia's month - Maia is the goddess of spring, known as the great one, the daughter of Faunus, and wife of Vulcan

----------------------

Yehovah has His own calendar

We are now at the end of the 2nd month of God called Ziv / Zif, the 30th day

1Kgs.6[1] - ziv - brightness, (figuratively) the month of flowers

***I hope you changed your Judaism calendars – The 2nd month is not Iyyar as Judaism states, it is Ziv.

**Remember:

We were told to count the "Sabbaths" not omers

So we are counting

Today is the sixth Sabbath out of the seven Sabbaths we were told to count.

Judaism, some Messianics and some Protestant Messianics are counting the “omer”.

They still cannot follow the scriptures correctly. They follow each other.

For your information: An "omer"עמר  is a "sheaf" of barley, a dry measure of 1/10 ephah  (about 2 liters)

Here is where it says to count Sabbaths Lev.23 [15]

Simple isn’t it?

 **Remember, This coming Feast has 3 names:

 Feast of Weeks, Hag Sh'vu-ot - חַג שָׁבֻעֹת

Feast of Harvest (wheat) Hag ha katseer - חַג הַקָּצִיר

Pentecost πεντηκοστή - pentēkoste

--------------

This feast is 50 days from First Fruits and the resurrection of Messiah

“Offering time”

From slaves in Egypt to the people of God

From the receiving of Torah / Law, to the receiving the Holy Spirit

How will you behave yourselves these 50 days? (Physically and Spiritually)

Remember

The weekly Sabbath, Saturday May 18th

The Feast of Weeks, a Sabbath is May 19th, Sunday

This Feast is always on the 1st day of the week known as Sunday

(There are 2 Sabbaths in a row)

------------------

The New Moon starts this Sabbath evening

Sunday is the 1st day of the 3rd month of God called Sivan

Esth.8 [9] Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan

Today's topic

Some covenants with the God of Israel

בּרית  -  ber-eeth, covenantin the sense of cutting, shed blood

Gen.17[10] This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

[11] And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.

[12] And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

[13] He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

[14] And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

[23] And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him.

[24] And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

[25] And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

[26] In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.

[27] And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.

בּרית  - ber-eeth, covenant

An ordinance, alliance, pledge treaty, league, agreement

The tables the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments

In the 3rd month Sivan

Sivan = a covering

Exod.19

[1] In the third month,(Sivan), when the children of Israel were gone forth out of the land of Egypt, the same day came they into the wilderness of Sinai.

[2] For they were departed from Rephidim, and were come to the desert of Sinai, and had pitched in the wilderness; and there Israel camped before the mount.

[3] And Moses went up unto God, and Yehovah called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;
[4] Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

[5] Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people:

for all the earth is mine:

[6] And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation.

These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

 [7] And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which Yehovah commanded him.

[8] And all the people answered together, and said, All that Yehovah hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto Yehovah.

[9] And Yehovah said unto Moses, Lo, I come unto thee in a thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever.

And Moses told the words of the people unto Yehovah.

[10] And Yehovah said unto Moses, Go unto the people, and sanctify them to day and to morrow, and let them wash their clothes,

[11] And be ready against the third day: for the third day Yehovah will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.

----------

Deut.29[1] These are the words of the covenant, which Yehovah commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.

[2] And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that Yehovah did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
[
3] The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
[
4] Yet Yehovah hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.

[5] And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
[
6] Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am Yehovah your God.

[7] And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:
[
8] And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

[9] Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

[10] Ye stand this day all of you before Yehovah your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
[
11] Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:

[12] That thou shouldest enter into covenant with Yehovah thy God, and into his oath, which Yehovah thy God maketh with thee this day:

[13] That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.

[14] Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;

[15] But with him that standeth here with us this day before Yehovah our God,

And also with him that is not here with us this day:

[16] (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;
[
17] And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)
[
18] Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from Yehovah our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;

[19] And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

[20] The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of Yehovah and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and Yehovah shall blot out his name from under heaven.

[21] And Yehovah shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:

[22] So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which Yehovah hath laid upon it;

[23] And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which Yehovah overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

[24] Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath Yehovah done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?

[25] Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of Yehovah God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:[26] For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:

[27] And the anger of Yehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:

[28] And Yehovah rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.

[29] The secret things belong unto Yehovah our God:

but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever,

that we may do all the words of this law

King Josiah

2Chr.34[31] And the king (Yosiah) stood in his place, and made a covenant before Yehovah, to walk after Yehovah, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.

Are you ready to do this?

This book of the law is so important

Josh.1[8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth;

but thou shalt meditate therein day and night,

that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:

for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

[9] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for Yehovah thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

[16] And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

[17] According as we hearkened unto Moses in all things, so will we hearken unto thee: only Yehovah thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

[18] Whosoever he be that doth rebel against thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death:

only be strong and of a good courage.

Another covenant

בּרית  -  ber-eeth, covenant

An ordinance, alliance, pledge treaty, league, agreement

Josh.24

[1] And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.
[2] And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith Yehovah God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

[3] And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
[4] And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.

[5] I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.

[6] And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.

[7] And when they cried unto Yehovah, he put darkness between you and the

gyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.

[8] And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

[9] Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:

[10] But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

[11] And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.
[12] And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.
[13] And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
[14] Now therefore fear Yehovah, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye Yehovah.

[15] And if it seem evil unto you to serve Yehovah, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yehovah.

[16] And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake Yehovah, to serve other gods;

[17] For Yehovah our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:

[18] And Yehovah drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve Yehovah; for he is our God.

[19] And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve Yehovah: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

[20] If ye forsake Yehovah, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

[21] And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve Yehovah.

[22] And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you Yehovah, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

[23] Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto Yehovah God of Israel.
[24] And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

------------

[25] So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

[26] And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of Yehovah.

--------------

[27] And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of Yehovah which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.

[28] So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.

[29] And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Yehovah, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

[30] And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-serah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.

-------------

[31] And Israel served Yehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of Yehovah, that he had done for Israel.

-------------

[32] And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

[33] And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
