שַׁבָּת שָׁלוֹם
--------------------------------------------
Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s
Today is
August 4, 2018 - in the 21 Century
August -- Augustus Caesar's month
Latin Augustus
"Augustus"
Latin Augustus mensis "month of Augustus"
Latin sextilis mensis "sixth
month"
Sextilis had 30 days, until Numa
when it had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.
Augustus Caesar clarified and completed the calendar reform of Julius
Caesar. In the process, he also renamed
this month after himself.
We
acknowledge Yehovah’s calendar
We are now in the 5th month, day 21 – This month has no scriptural name.
It is not Av as Judaism and some Messianics say it is.

Today’s Topic
Having Joy, being merry in God is
very important
Some Proverbs
Make sure your joy in God is not withered away
The “joy of Yehovah” is your strength
[2]
And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and
women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.
(ha Ethanim)
[3]
And he read
therein before the street that was before the water gate from the
morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could
understand; and the
ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
[4]
And Ezra the
scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose;
and beside him stood Mattithiah,
and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah,
and Maaseiah, on his right
hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah,
and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana,
Zechariah, and Meshullam.
[5]
And Ezra opened the book in the sight of
all the people; (for he was above all the people;)
and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
[6]
And Ezra
blessed Yehovah, the great
God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and
they bowed their heads, and worshipped Yehovah
with their faces to the ground.
[7]
Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin,
Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah,
Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad,
Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to
understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
[8]
So they read in the book in the law of
God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
[9]
And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha,
and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said
unto all the people, This day is
holy unto Yehovah your God;
mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
[10]
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send
portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither
be ye sorry;
for the joy of Yehovah is your strength.
[11]
So the Levites
stilled all the people, saying, Hold
your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
[12]
And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions,
and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto
them.
[13] And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
A portion of a Gospel
[14]
For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called
his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
[15] And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another
one; to every man according to his several
ability; and straightway took his journey.
[16]
Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and
made them other five talents.
[17]
And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.
[18] But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
[19]
After a long time the Lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.
[20]
And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents,
saying, Lord, thou deliveredst
unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
[21]
His lord said unto him, Well
done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few
things, I will make thee
ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
[22]
He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents:
behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
[23]
His lord said unto him, Well
done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I
will make thee ruler over
many things: enter
thou into the joy of thy lord.
[24]
Then he
which had received the one talent
came and said, Lord, I knew thee
that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering
where thou hast not strawed:
[25] And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo,
there thou hast that is thine.
[26] His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant,
thou knewest that I reap
where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
[27] Thou oughtest
therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I
should have received mine own with usury.
[28] Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath
ten talents.
[29] For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him
that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
[30] And cast ye the unprofitable
servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
The Son of man, the King
[31] When the Son of man shall come in His
glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory:
[32] And before Him shall be gathered all nations: and He shall separate
them one from another, as a shepherd divideth
his sheep from the goats:
[33]
And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
[34] Then shall the
King say unto them on His right hand, Come, ye blessed of My Father, inherit
the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
[35] For I was an hungred,
and ye gave Me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave Me drink: I was a stranger, and
ye took Me in:
[36] Naked, and ye clothed Me: I was sick, and ye visited Me: I was in
prison, and ye came unto Me.
[37] Then shall the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we Thee
an hungred, and fed Thee? or thirsty, and gave Thee drink?
[38] When saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? or naked, and clothed Thee?
[39] Or when saw we Thee sick, or in prison, and came unto Thee?
[40] And the King shall answer and say
unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the
least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me.
[41] Then
shall He say also unto them on the
left hand, Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the
devil and his angels:
[42] For I was an hungred, and ye gave Me no meat:
I was thirsty, and ye gave Me no drink:
[43] I was a stranger, and ye
took Me not in: naked, and ye clothed Me not: sick, and in prison, and ye
visited Me not.
[44] Then shall they also answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we
Thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or
sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto Thee?
[45]
Then shall He answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not
to one of the least of these, ye did it not to Me.
[46] And these shall go away into
everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
In closing:
Job
said:
Ecc.9 [7] Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
[8] Let thy garments be always white;
and let thy head lack no ointment.
[9] Live joyfully with the wife
whom thou lovest all the
days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the
days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this
life, and in thy labour which
thou takest under the sun.
[10] Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy
might;
for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
[11] I
returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the
battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of
understanding, nor yet favour
to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
[12] For man
also knoweth not his time:
as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught
in the snare; so are the sons of men snared in an evil
time, when it falleth
suddenly upon them.
[13] This wisdom have
I seen also under the sun, and it seemed great unto me:
[14] There
was a little city, and few
men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and
built great bulwarks against it:
[15] Now
there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city;
yet no man remembered that same poor man.
[16] Then
said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and
his words are not heard.
[17] The
words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools.
[18] Wisdom is better than weapons of war:
but one sinner destroyeth much good.
Rejoice in Yehovah,
be glad in His Salvation, Yeshua
