Today we use the Gregorian calendar from Pope Gregory, from the 1500’s

Today is January 12, 2013

January -- Janus's month

Middle English Januarie
Latin Januarius "of Janus"
Latin Janu(s) "Janus" + -arius "ary (pertaining to)"
Latin Januarius mensis "month of Janus"

Janus is the Roman god of gates and doorways, depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions. His festival month is January.

Januarius had 29 days, until Julius when it became 31 days long.

------------------

Now, God’s truth

Yehovah has His own calendar

We are now in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, 29 day

Esth.2[16] So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth,  טֵבֵת  in the seventh year of his reign.

(Part of Dec. 2012 & Jan. 2013)

New Moon Soon

11th month Sh’vat

Zech.1 [7] Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of Yehovah unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

Today’s Topic:

Relevancy to Truth

Connected with the matter at hand

The reason I put this study together is that I hear so many people arguing about irrelevant subjects that are neither here nor there.

One main subject is:

Eschatology: Any system of doctrines concerning last, or final, matters, as  the future state of events to the end, death, the Judgment, etc. , a branch of theology.

----------

Let us consider these terms:

Relevant - bearing upon or connected with the matter in hand; pertinent

Not so relevant – not so pertinent

Irrelevant - not relevant; not applicable or pertinent

--------------------

Here are four questions you should ask yourself:

What are the relevant subjects in scripture you should focus on first in your short life?

What are the not so relevant subjects in scripture you should focus on later in your studies?

What are the irrelevant subjects in scripture that no one can answer?

--------------------

What should we focus on first?

Let us start:

Sin seems to be the most pressing issue to understand and avoid

Question:

 What is SIN?

Answer:

1John.3 [4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law:

for sin is the transgression of the law.

Do you know the Law?

Do you know what Sin is?

You can sin through ignorance

Or

Sin presumptuously

Look it up!

Let’s start with the 10 Commandments

Do you know where the 10 Commandments are in scripture?

Exod. 20 & Deut.5

Exod.20

[1] And God spake all these words, saying,

[2] I am Yehovah thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
[3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

[4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
[5] Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I Yehovah thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
[6] And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

[7] Thou shalt not take the name of Yehovah thy God in vain; for Yehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

[8] Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
[10] But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yehovah thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
[11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yehovah blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

[12] Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which Yehovah thy God giveth thee.

[13] Thou shalt not kill.

[14] Thou shalt not commit adultery.

[15] Thou shalt not steal.

[16] Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

[17] Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's
.

Now we should examine ourselves if we are keeping these or not

Prove all things

1Thes.5[21] Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

2Tim.2[15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2Cor.13

[5] Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith;prove your own selves.

Know ye not your own selves, how that Yeshua the Messiah is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Exod.20 [20] And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not

Don’t Sin presumptuous, knowingly

1Sam.14 [34] And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me hither every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and slay them here, and eat;

and sin not against Yehovah in eating with the blood.

Pss.4[4] Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Pss.39[1] I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.

Ezek.3[21] Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

John.5[1] After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Yeshua went up to Jerusalem.
[2] Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
[3] In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
[4] For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
[5] And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
[6] When Yeshua saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
[7] The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
[8] Yeshua saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
[9] And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
[10] The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
[11] He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
[12] Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
[13] And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Yeshua had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
[14] Afterward Yeshua findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

John.8

[1] Yeshua went unto the mount of Olives.
[2] And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
[3] And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
[4] They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
[5] Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
[6] This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Yeshua stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
[7] So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
[8] And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
[9] And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Yeshua was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
[10] When Yeshua had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

[11] She said, No man, Lord. And Yeshua said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee
: go, and sin no more.

[12] Then spake Yeshua again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

---------------

1Cor.15[34] Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Eph.4 [25] Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

[26] Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
[27] Neither give place to the devil.

[28] Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

[29] Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

[30] And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

[31] Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

[32] And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Messiah's sake hath forgiven you.

1John.2[1] My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Yeshua the Messiah the righteous:
[2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

[3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

[4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

1John.5[16] If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death.

There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

[17] All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

Prov.21[4] An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

Prov.24[9] The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.

Rom.14 [23] .for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

1Cor.15[56] The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

Jas.4[17] Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

--------------------

Some things we should say when we talk to God

Job.13[23] How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.

Pss.19[13] Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Pss.25[7] Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, Yehovah.

[18] Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

Pss.51[9] Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

Pss.69[5] O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

Pss.79[9] Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

Pss.90[8] Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

Prov.5 [21] For the ways of man are before the eyes of Yehovah, and he pondereth all his goings.

[22] His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

[23] He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Prov.10[12] Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

Prov.28[13] He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

Mic.7[18] Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

[19] He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

[20] Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old

You need the Messiah and His blood

Matt.1[21] And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Matt.26[28] For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Luke.5[24] But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

Luke.11

[1] And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
[2] And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
[3] Give us day by day our daily bread.
[4] And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Luke.24

[44] And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
[45] Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
[46] And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Messiah to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
[47] And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Acts.2[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yeshua the Messiah for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Gal.1[4] Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Eph.1[7] In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

1John.1[9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1John.2[2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.[12] I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

1John.3[5] And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

1John.4[10] Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Rev.1[5] And from Yeshua the Messiah, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Acts.3 [19] Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
[20] And he shall send Yeshua the Messiah, which before was preached unto you:
[21] Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

[22] For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
[23] And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
[24] Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
[25] Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham,

And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

-----------------------

Some things, situations, objects, even people may not be relevant

Luke.10 [38] Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
[39] And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Yeshua' feet, and heard his word.

[40] But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

[41] And Yeshua answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

[42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

----------------

I know there is so much more to say, however we will end for today

In closing:

Ecc.12[13] Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

[14] For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
