Let’s pray
Today we use the Gregorian calendar
from Pope Gregory; from the 1500’s
Today is Sept. 24, 2016
September - the seventh month (now the 9th month, go figure)
September had 30 days, until Numa when it had 29 days, until
Julius when it became 30 days long.
----------
Yehovah has His own calendar
We are now in the sixth month of God called Elul,
22nd day
These 2 verses below indicated to us Elul must be
the 6th month
Neh. 6 [15] So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth
day of the month Elul, אֱלוּל in fifty and two days.
Neh. 7 [73] So the priests, and the Levites, and the
porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all
Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the
children of Israel were in their cities.

We read from law and the prophets
every Sabbath like they did in the Book of Acts.
Acts: 13 [15] And after the reading of the
law and the prophets…
Luke 24 [44] And Yeshua said unto them, These are the words which I
spoke unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled,
which were written in the law of Moses, and in the
prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
The Word of God - Torah, Prophets and Writings
(psalms)
Ta Na Kk is an acronym for:
T = Torah (law, teachings) - first 5 books
of Moses
N = Navi' eem or prophets (pl. sounds like - Na vi eem)
K = Ke'tuvim or writings (psalms etc.)
At this point, there were neither
gospels nor letters.
--------------------
Today’s Topic:
Seems like a good
time to go over the Sabbaths, the holy convocations
Question: So why are we here today?
Answer: We were told to remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy
The Sabbath, the 4th Commandment is a
part of the covenant given to us at Mount Sinai in the 3rd month, Sivan
60 times in the Gospels and letters it uses
the word Sabbath
Ex. 20 [8] Remember the
Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
זכר zâkar - zaw-kar' - A primitive
root; properly to mark (so as to be recognized), that is, to remember; by implication
to mention; make mention of, be mindful, recount, record (-er), remember, make to be remembered, bring (call, come, keep, put) to
(in) remembrance
Back to Ex. 20
[9] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
[10] But the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yehovah thy God:
in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
[11] For in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the
seventh day: wherefore Yehovah blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed
it.
Rev.1
[10] I, John was in the Spirit on the Yehovah's Day - (The Sabbath)
-----------
Lev. 23 [3]
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is
the Sabbath of rest, a "holy convocation"; ye shall do no work therein: it
is the Sabbath of Yehovah in all your
dwellings.
Dwelling מושׁב - môshâv - seat, assembly, dwelling-place, dwelling, your situation, location, (at) time of dwelling
The Sabbath is a "holy
convocation"
מקרא miqra: convocation, convoking,
reading, a calling together, sacred assembly, something called out, that is, a
public meeting (the act, the persons, or the place); also a rehearsal
קדשׁ kodesh: a sacred place or thing;
consecrated, dedicated, hallowed, holiness, saint, sanctuary, apartness,
sacredness, separateness, apartness, sacredness, holiness
No Servile work- melakat avodah מְלֶאכֶת
עֲבֹדָה
עֲבֹדָה avodah - work of any kind: act, bondservant, labor,
service, tillage, work
מְלֶאכֶת melakat - occupation, work, business public business
------------
Buying and selling is evil on the Sabbath
Neh. 13 [16] There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which
brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto
the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
Paul tells us: in Colossians 2:16 http://oneinmessiah.net/col216b.asf
Col. 2:16: Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days:
17: Which are a shadow of "things to come";
(future tense) but the body is of Messiah.
Some Greek
Judge - κρινω krino: to try to condemn, to separate, put asunder, to pick out, to be of opinion, judge, to pronounce an opinion concerning right and wrong, to contend, to dispute
--------
Holy day - εορτη heorte -heh-or-tay' - a festival: - feast, holy day
--------
New moon - νουμηνία - noumēnia - noo-may-nee'-ah - new moon
--------
Sabbath days - σάββατον - sabbaton sab'-bat-on
Of Hebrew origin - the Sabbath, 7th day of week, repose from secular
avocations;
Also there are 7 Sabbaths in the feasts of Yehovah which are commands to keep from God.
--------
Shadow - σκια
skia : shadow, an image cast by an object and
representing the form of that object, a sketch, outline
------------
Isa. 58 [13] If thou turn away thy
foot from the sabbath,
from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call
the sabbath a delight, the holy
of Yehovah, honorable; and shalt
honor him,
1 - not doing thine
own ways,
2 - nor finding thine own pleasure,
3 - nor speaking thine own words:
[14]
Then shalt thou delight thyself
in Yehovah; and I
will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with
the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of Yehovah hath spoken it.
--------------------
In the 7th month,
ha Ethanim there is 4 extra Sabbaths
Ha Ethanim - הָ אֵ
תָ נִים
The alef and tav, first and last (forever)
Ha Ethanim = “enduring” - the permanent brooks flow
הָאֵתָנִים - ha Ethanim - Always with
the article ha, the - permanent brooks;
Ethanim = enduring - seventh month, corresponding end of Sept, Oct. - so named
because permanent streams still flowed - plural below:
איתן
eythan - perpetual, constant, perennial, ever-flowing,
ever-flowing (of a stream), permanence, permanent, enduring (figuratively)
Messiah is the Living waters:
Jer. 2 [13] For my people have committed two evils; they
have forsaken me the fountain of living waters,
and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
---------------
Jer. 17 [13] Yehovah, the hope of
Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me
shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken Yehovah, the fountain
of living waters .
-------------
Question: Should we call the 7th month Tishrei like Judaism or some Messianics?
Answer: NO!
The word Tishri is not
mentioned even once in TaNaK.
Scripture calls the
7th month ha Ethanim
in 1 Kings 8:2
1 Kgs. 8 [2] And all the men of Israel assembled
themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the
month (ha) Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
It is
the 7th month, not new years
God’s New Year is in Exod. 12:2, in Spring,
at Passover
This month shall be unto you the
beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you

Notice, verse 24 says the “First day” of the 7th month
The New Moon, you need to see the little crescent of the lesser light
The greater light to rule the day and the lesser
light to rule the night
Gen. 1 [14] And God said, Let
there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the
night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
וַיֹּאמֶר
אֱלֹהִים,
יְהִי

וְהָיוּ
לְאֹתֹת
וּלְמוֹעֲדִים,
וּלְיָמִים
וְשָׁנִים
[15] And let them
be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and
it was so.
[16] And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the
day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

[17] And God set
them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
[18] And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw
that it was good.
[19] And the
evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Remember, these holydays were observed a few 1000 years
later in the Gospels and Letters. After Yeshua and all the Apostles died, it seems many of
God’s observances and memorials were deleted again.
We shall revive and undelete them! We
do these feasts in memorial the best we understand.
In closing: counting today, only 9 days
left for the Holy days and feast of Yehovah
Remember, these dates all

Exod.31 [12] And Yehovah
spake unto Moses, saying,
[13] Speak thou also
unto the children of Israel, saying,
Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is
a sign between me and you throughout your generations;
that ye may know that I am Yehovah
that doth sanctify you.
[14] Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you:
every one that defileth it
shall surely be put to death:
for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall
be cut off from among his people.
[15] Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is
the sabbath of rest, holy to
Yehovah: whosoever
doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be
put to death.
[16] Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual
covenant.
[17] It is a sign between me and the children of
Israel for ever:
for in six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he
rested, and was refreshed.
[18] And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon
mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone,
written with the finger of God.
---
Deut.16 [13] Thou shalt observe the feast of
tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn and
thy wine:
[14] And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and
thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the
Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy
gates.
[15] Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast unto Yehovah
thy God in the place which Yehovah shall choose:
because Yehovah thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine
hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.
[16] Three times in a
year shall all thy males appear before Yehovah thy
God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and
in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not
appear before Yehovah empty:
[17] Every man shall
give as he is able, according to the blessing of Yehovah
thy God which he hath given thee.
Be ready!
