Abraham אַבְרָהָם
Gen.20
[1]
And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between
Kadesh
and Shur,
and sojourned in Gerar.
[2] And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She
is my sister: and Abimelech
king of Gerar
sent, and took Sarah.
[3] But God came to Abimelech
in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but
a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.
[4] But Abimelech
had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous
nation?
[5] Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and
she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency
of my hands have I done this.
[6] And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know
that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee
from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
[7] Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet,
and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not,
know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
[8]
Therefore Abimelech
rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these
things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.
[9] Then Abimelech
called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done
unto us? and
what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a
great sin? thou
hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
[10] And Abimelech
said unto Abraham, What sawest
thou, that thou hast done this thing?
[11] And Abraham said, Because I thought,
Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my
wife's sake.
[12] And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father,
but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
[13] And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's
house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew
unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
[14] And Abimelech
took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave
them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
[15] And Abimelech
said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.
[16] And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand
pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that
are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.
[17] So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife,
and his maidservants; and they bare children.
[18] For Yehovah had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech,
because of Sarah Abraham's wife.
Moses מֹשֶׁה
Deut.34 [10] And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses,
whom Yehovah knew face to face,
[11] In all the signs and the wonders, which Yehovah sent him
to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his
land,
[12] And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which
Moses shewed
in the sight of all Israel.

Deut.18 [15] TheYehovah
thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy
brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
[16] According to all that thou desiredst
of Yehovah thy God in Horeb
in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of Yehovah
my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
[17] And Yehovah said unto me, They have well
spoken that which they have spoken.
[18] I will raise them up a
Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in
his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
[19] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my
words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

Bad Prophets
Balaam בִּלְעָם
Rev.2[14]
But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock
before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to
commit fornication.
2Pet.2 [15] Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; [16] But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
Jude 1[11] Woe unto them! for they have gone
in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of
Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
Rev.2 [20] Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because
thou sufferest
that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a
prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication,
and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. [21] And I gave her space to repent of
her fornication; and she repented not.
[22] Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her
into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
[23] And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know
that I am he which
searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according
to your works.
prophetess Noadiah נוֹעַדְיָה הַנְּבִיאָה
Hananiah חֲנַנְיָה
Jer.28
[1]
And it came to pass the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah
king of Judah, in the fourth year, and in the fifth month, that Hananiah
the son of Azur
the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spake unto me in the house of Yehovah, in the
presence of the priests and of all the people, saying,
[2] Thus speaketh Yehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken
the yoke of the king of Babylon.
[3] Within two full years will I bring again into this place all the vessels of
Yehovah's
house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place, and
carried them to Babylon:
[4] And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim
king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith
Yehovah: for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
[5] Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of
the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of
Yehovah,
[6] Even the prophet Jeremiah said, Amen: Yehovah do so: Yehovah perform thy
words which thou hast prophesied, to bring again the vessels of Yehovah's
house, and all that is carried away captive, from Babylon into this place.
[7] Nevertheless hear thou now this word that I speak in thine ears, and in the
ears of all the people;
[8] The prophets that have been before me and before thee of old prophesied
both against many countries, and against great kingdoms, of war, and of evil,
and of pestilence.
[9] The prophet which prophesieth
of peace, when the word of the prophet shall come to pass, then shall the
prophet be known, that Yehovah hath truly sent him.
[10] Then Hananiah
the prophet took the yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, and brake
it.
[11] And Hananiah
spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus
saith Yehovah; Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon
from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the
prophet Jeremiah went his way.
[12] Then the word of Yehovah came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah
the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah,
saying,
[13] Go and tell Hananiah,
saying, Thus saith Yehovah; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt
make for them yokes of iron.
[14] For thus saith Yehovah of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a yoke of
iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar
king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of
the field also.
[15] Then said the prophet Jeremiah unto Hananiah the prophet, Hear
now, Hananiah;
TheYehovah
hath not sent thee; but thou makest
this people to trust in a lie.
[16] Therefore thus saith Yehovah; Behold, I will cast thee from off the face
of the earth: this year thou shalt die, because thou hast taught rebellion
against Yehovah.
[17] So Hananiah
the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.
Deut.13
[1]
If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a
sign or a wonder,
[2] And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee,
saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve
them;
[3] Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that
dreamer of dreams: for Yehovah your God proveth you, to know
whether ye love Yehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
[4] Ye shall walk after Yehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his
commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
[5] And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death;
because he hath spoken to turn you away from Yehovah your God, which brought
you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to
thrust thee out of the way which Yehovah thy God commanded thee to walk in. So
shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
[6] If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter,
or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice
thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not
known, thou, nor thy fathers;
[7] Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh
unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the
other end of the earth;
[8] Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall
thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
[9] But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him
to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
[10] And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath
sought to thrust thee away from Yehovah thy God, which brought thee out of the
land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
[11] And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such
wickedness as this is among you.
[12] If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which Yehovah thy God
hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
[13] Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and
have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other
gods, which ye have not known;
[14] Then shalt thou inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and,
behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought
among you;
[15] Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge
of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle
thereof, with the edge of the sword.
[16] And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the
street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof
every whit, for Yehovah thy God: and it shall be an
heap for ever; it shall not be built again.
[17] And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that
Yehovah may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have
compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers;
[18] When thou shalt hearken to the voice of Yehovah thy God, to keep
all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right
in the eyes of Yehovah thy God.
Jer.23
[1]
Woe be
unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith
Yehovah.
[2] Therefore thus saith Yehovah God of Israel against the pastors that
feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven
them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of
your doings, saith Yehovah.
[3] And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries
whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they
shall be fruitful and increase.
[4] And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and
they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith
Yehovah.
[5] Behold, the days come, saith Yehovah, that I will raise unto David a
righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute
judgment and justice in the earth.
[6] In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and
this is his name whereby he shall be called, THEYehovah OUR
RIGHTEOUSNESS.
[7] Therefore, behold, the days come, saith Yehovah, that they shall no
more say, TheYehovah
liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
[8] But, TheYehovah
liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of
the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they
shall dwell in their own land.
[9] Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones
shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because
of Yehovah, and because of the words of his holiness.
[10] For the land is full of adulterers; for because of swearing the
land mourneth;
the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their course is evil,
and their force is not right.
[11] For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I
found their wickedness, saith Yehovah.
[12] Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness:
they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them,
even the year of their visitation, saith Yehovah.
[13] And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied
in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.
[14] I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an
horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also
the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all
of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
[15] Therefore thus saith Yehovah of hosts concerning the prophets;
Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall:
for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.
[16] Thus saith Yehovah of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the
prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of
their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Yehovah.
[17] They say still unto them that despise me, TheYehovah hath said, Ye
shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the
imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
[18] For who hath stood in the counsel of Yehovah, and hath perceived
and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?
[19] Behold, a whirlwind of Yehovah is gone forth in fury, even a
grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.
[20] The anger of Yehovah shall not return, until he have
executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter
days ye shall consider it perfectly.
[21] I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to
them, yet they prophesied.
[22] But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to
hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from
the evil of their doings.
[23] Am I a God at hand, saith Yehovah, and not a God afar off?
[24] Can any hide himself in secret
places that I shall not see him? saith Yehovah. Do
not I fill heaven and earth? saith Yehovah.
[25] I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name,
saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.
[26] How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy
lies? yea,
they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;
[27] Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams
which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my
name for Baal.
[28] The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that
hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat?
saith
Yehovah.
[29] Is not my word like as a fire? saith Yehovah; and
like a hammer that breaketh
the rock in pieces?
[30] Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith Yehovah, that
steal my words every
one from his neighbour.
[31] Behold, I am against the prophets, saith Yehovah, that use their
tongues, and say, He saith.
[32] Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, saith
Yehovah, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by
their lightness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall
not profit this people at all, saith Yehovah.
[33] And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask thee,
saying, What
is the burden of Yehovah? thou shalt then say
unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, saith Yehovah.
[34] And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that
shall say, The burden of Yehovah, I will even punish that man and his house.
[35] Thus shall ye say every
one to his neighbour,
and every one to his brother, What hath Yehovah
answered? and,
What hath Yehovah spoken?
[36] And the burden of Yehovah shall ye mention no more: for every man's
word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of
Yehovah of hosts our God.
[37] Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What
hath Yehovah answered thee? and, What hath
Yehovah spoken?
[38] But since ye say, The burden of Yehovah; therefore thus saith
Yehovah; Because ye say this word, The burden of Yehovah, and I have sent unto
you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of Yehovah;
[39] Therefore, behold, I, even I, will utterly forget you, and I will
forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of
my presence:
[40] And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual
shame, which shall not be forgotten.
Matt.23
[1]
Then spake Yeshua to the multitude, and to his disciples,
[2] Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:
[3] All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do;
but do not ye
after their works: for they say, and do not.
[4] For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them
on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their
fingers.
[5] But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad
their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
[6] And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the
synagogues,
[7] And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
[8] But be not ye
called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even
Messiah; and all ye are brethren.
[9] And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father,
which is in heaven.
[10] Neither be ye called masters: for one is your
Master, even Messiah.
[11] But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
[12] And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that
shall humble himself shall be exalted.
[13] But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for
ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves,
neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
[14] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for
ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye
shall receive the greater damnation.
[15] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for
ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him
twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
[16] Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever
shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold
of the temple, he is a debtor!
[17] Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple
that sanctifieth
the gold?
[18] And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but
whosoever sweareth
by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
[19] Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar
that sanctifieth
the gift?
[20] Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all
things thereon.
[21] And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him
that dwelleth
therein.
[22] And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth
by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.
[23] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for
ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters
of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to
leave the other undone.
[24] Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.
[25] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for
ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are
full of extortion and excess.
[26] Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and
platter,
that the outside of them may be clean also.
[27] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like
unto whited
sepulchres,
which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones,
and of all uncleanness.
[28] Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye
are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
[29] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because
ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the
righteous,
[30] And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not
have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
[31] Wherefore ye be witnesses unto
yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
[32] Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.
[33] Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the
damnation of hell?
[34] Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and
scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye
scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:
[35] That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth,
from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias,
whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
[36] Verily I say unto you, All these things
shall come upon this generation.
[37] O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest
them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children
together, even as a hen gathereth
her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
[38] Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
[39] For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me
henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the
Lord.
